Chrissies – ConwyVisited this restaurant twice now each time we have passed through Conway. and not been disappointed. Mussels fine and lamb soup with lovely bread and small helping of cheese great. As was fish dish my wife had. The staff are most helpful. Keep up the good standard. Will be back SAP.
Chrissies – ConwyThe initial joy of finding a gluten-free restaurant turned a little sour as the meal wore on on a hot July evening. My husband's first lager was served at room temperature?? He then asked the waitress to put the second lager in the freezer-which was done. My father-in-law bit on something chilli hot in his salad so couldn't finish it. My husbands mussel portion was rather small for the price so regarded as poor value for money....this a shame because the decor and attitude is good-it just failed to deliver the goods....the following day I was unwell so wonder if the chips were in fact gluten-free I was informed they have to be as the chef is gluten intolerant but I'm left wondering...:-(
Chrissies – ConwyGreat place to enjoy excellent food in a friendly atmosphere with staff who go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself and remember the occasion. Recommend the Beef Carbonnade.
Chrissies – Conwygood value, quick delivery, great choice, always friendly on phone
Efes Kebab Junction – Conwyjust exciting unpretentious sea food wonders, friendly 'normal staff'. Tasty tasty food. not expensive, a great surprise. thanks
Chrissies – ConwyHad a lovely family lunch recently in the Press room. Despite there being 10 of us including two small children ,food arrived quickly and was delicious. Love the choice of meals on the menu. Something for everyone.
The Press Room – ConwySince it's new owners took over a year or two ago we have been to the Gladstone several times and always had an excellent meal. You'll have to wait a while as the food is cooked from scratch, NOT microwaved! It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. When you book, ask for a table overlooking the sea; the view is superb! The staff are helpful and friendly; they stock local ales and the loos are spotless. (HINT: if you like to know how clean the kitchen of any restaurant is, check the loos first!)
The Gladstone – ConwyWe have just returned after a very nice weekend here. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms clean and comfortable. The food was excellent, well presented and good quality ingredients. I have a wheat intolerance and this was catered for without making me feel uncomfortable. Definitely going to revisit infact my husbands already booked for next year. Wish we lived closer so we could go there for a nice meal more often.
Sychnant Pass House – ConwyThought we would try a new fish restaurant called Chrissy's in the medieval walled town of Conwy in North Wales last wednesday 28th sept. We are always keen to try new fish restaurants as there just aren't enough around here. Outside there were two chalkboards with various dishes and inside were two further chalkboards on different walls and there was also a menu at the table, so hunting down what you wanted was a bit of a run round, the chalkboards also looked like a five year old had written them. Some olives turned up that were the smallest i had ever seen and warm, some nice brown bread also turned up with some butter that was solid and useless until after we had finished the meal. My wifes starter was a salmon blini which was burnt and didn't look like a blini that we had ever seen before, it looked like a slice of french stick. My starter of Thai fish cakes arrived and to be fair were very nice, only trouble was they were only three the size of 50 pence piece. Main course was seafood Gambo for both of us, two prawns and a scallop, veg and rice. Total rubbish wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Chrissies – ConwyHad an excellent meal here last week . What was really good was that they understood "glutenfree" and even provided suitable bread and could reassure us about the menu ingredients. Prices very reasonable and good friendly service too .
Chrissies – ConwyStayed here the first weekend of September. Room was lovely and very comfortable. Can't fail to mention the shower which was excellent, full on from the mains not a piddly dribbly electric shower! Bliss! Menue looks fairly simple, but food is tasty and well presented. Breakfast choice is excellent and food is piping hot! Will definitely go again.
The Groes Inn – ConwyThis is one of Conwy's hidden gems. We had a meal here on September 3rd and this was our 2nd visit. The meal was tasty and well presented, and the service excellent. The venue is a very simple cafe type place but the food is delicious. Best to book in advance at weekends to avoid disappointment.
Amelies Restaurant – ConwyI have had the pleasure of eating at Chrissie's Kitchen a couple of times now and can honestly say I've enjoyed everything I've eaten there. I highly recommend the Medieval Pork Ragu which is truly a taste sensation. Like Christmas on a plate. The staff are friendly and welcoming and they carry a good stock of quality wines to choose from.
Chrissies – ConwyI can highly recommend this restaurant. I had a hot and sour prawn soup that was excellent and their Medieval Pork Ragu was full of rich flavors - mouth watering. The best though was the 18th century trifle - simply heavenly. The service was excellent too :)
Chrissies – ConwyWould highly recommend this hotel. We stayed for one night and the room was lovely, the views fantastic, the food excellent and the staff could not be faulted. Absolutely superb.
The Groes Inn – ConwyStayed for a week recently at the Groes Inn, on a half board basis. We stay here regularly and can thoroughly recommend it. Great ambiance, excellent rooms, friendly and helpful staff and good food and wine. An excellent Inn for a base in North Wales, relaxing to return to after a days sightseeing and touring Snowdonia. We are returning again this year for another few days.
The Groes Inn – ConwyFirst, the area is one of stunning beauty, with breathtaking walks within yards of the House. Second, the House itself is wonderfully welcoming, from its hosts to its tangibly friendly atmosphere. Then there is the spacious but homely lounge, and the beautifully-appointed bedrooms. Finally, there is the restaurant and the food - the latter creatively presented, and outstandingly enjoyable and tasty... I have spent heavily in famous London restaurants, and nothing has matched this. And breakfasts, too, come with that same distinctive touch and taste. Recommended for a stay, recommended for meals, recommended too for group stays or weddings - where it's quite obvious that everything would be laid on to as high a standard as one could wish for.
