This is such an amazing setting on the terrace overlooking the water and it feels a bit exclusive too. So I was surprised that you have to order food from the bar having got your table number and pay upfront like a pub. Food was pretty good but pricey for what it was and how it was served. Maybe it's different at dinner...

Wow Just go here, The restaurant advertises itself as being unique in Cornwall but having travelled a lot it's pretty unique in the UK if not the World! The only place I've been that comes anywhere near here is Cafe Deco in Hong Kong, A great concept, excellent setting with exceptional food, will definitely be going back. Dave

This is a world away from it's previous life as the Truro Meadery. It is decorated in a light and modern way but also incorporating the old stained glass windows. The food was delicious and well presented. I would say this restaurant is of the highest standard and is amongst the most reputable eateries in Truro. I'll definitely be returning, in fact, a booked for another meal on my way out!

Smugglers Den is such a beautiful quiet spot. We enjoyed a lovely light Lunch outside. Menu has plenty to choose from and cooked to perfection. Would thoroughly recommend and can't wait to go in the evening.

Crikey the food is good here! Had a business lunch on the hoof but still had time for a superb amuse of Jerusalem Artichoke veloute, a main special of gently Moroccan spiced, slowly braised neck of lamb with perfectly cooked veg and creamy mash my lunch guest had a goats cheese dish with onion marmalade, bean shoots and sundried tomato. We finished with a velvety chocolate marquise and home made campari and grapefruit sorbet. Deal done!

My God can Truro really be changing into a proper city? A slice of city sophistication and cool style has just opened its doors, at last somewhere for the Truro cool cats to strut!

I had the pleasure of going there for lunch with a friend and we were seated at one of the tables that overlooks the beach. The food is Italian inspired and the menu seems to alter slightly from day to day (the menu is printed for that day and so we were able to keep a copy), On arrival we were given a copy of the menu along with a wine and drinks list. Our waitress then came over with a wooden board with various breads on it. We were told to "take a couple of pieces" which I thought was a bit mean as there were more than two kinds of bread on the board and I would have liked to have tried all of them plus the pieces were not that big. Along with the bread we were given four olives in a dish and some peppery olive oil for dipping. The wine is quite expensive as is the normal for restaurants and so my friend and I not being big drinkers opted to have a non alcoholic cocktail. I had a Watgergate Cooler and my friend had a Gentle sea breeze. Both were very nice and cost £4.00 each. We also had a bottle of Cornish Mineral water which cost about £2.50. You can choose to go for a set three course meal which costs £24.50 or if nothing grabs you from the set menu then other dishes were available at a cost of £9/13 for starters, £14 for pasta or £19/20 for mains and £8 for desserts. My friend and I chose to opt for choices from the set menu. For starters we had Spring salad - lovely fresh vegetables: asparagus, radish, carrot and peas served with rocket leaves and a sprinkling of cheese. For main I had a Spaghetti, fresh pea carbonara (the only non meat/fish dish on the menu) which on arrival looked quite small but was so rich that you couldn't have really eaten any more. I was particularly pleased that it was well seasoned with cracked black pepper (big fan) as there are no condiments on any of the tables in the restaurant. My friend chose Bolton Free range chicken which came on a bed of spring greens with a porcini mushroom and asparagus cream. For desert I chose Chocolate cake, fresh cherries and mascapone while my friend had grilled apricots with praline ice cream. I thought the desserts were very small especially as mine came on such a huge plate compared to the size of the cake. The cake was very rich - like a brownie and was served with a dolop of mascarpone and four fresh cherries. My friend's apricots came on a more appropriate sized plate but again was small in that it consisted of two apricots halved and grilled and a scoop of ice cream on top. To finish we had a coffee each - double expresso and an americano. In total our bill came to about £69.00 (excluding service). My overall view is that yes it is more expensive that your average restaurant but it does have a "celeb" status so you are paying for that. That the food at first glance looks small for the price but I found that actually I was very full although I still believe the waitress should have left the bread board! At the end of the day it is in a fantastic location and we found the waiters and waitresses to be very helpful and for the place as a whole to have a lovely atmosphere (the restaurant was practically full when we went) and even if you only go for a special occasion the atmosphere and location make up for the fact that you will probably have to spend a bit more than normal.

I wanted to go somewhere special for my 50th birthday, and having eaten before at Tabbs Portreath I knew their new Truro restaurant would be just the place. I was not disappointed! It has been beautifully decorated and furnished in a modern but relaxed style and is very welcoming on arrival. The service is first-rate, professional but friendly at the same time. And the food.......absolutely wonderful. The combination of flavours is quite exceptional, every mouthful a delight. My birthday was indeed a very special occasion. For anyone who has not yet discovered Tabbs, you have a treat in store!

We had a fantastic evening at this little restaurant. It is located to the right at the top of the main street opposite the bingo hall, look out for the red, white and blue Thai flag that flutters above the door. The set meals are fantastic value, the most expensive being just £17. Well worth a visit one evening, and Have just seen that they are now open on a lunchtime and for takeaways as well.

Buzios on a Sunday afternoon was very quiet. Took over half an hour for food to arrive at table. Seemed a bit on the stingy side but very nice. Waitress was a real sweety!

Excellent! Really enjoyable evening. We were quite loud but nobody seemed to mind! Food was great, loads of it and served with beaming smiles! If only Wadebridge and Rock would latch on to the idea that you don't have to charge a fortune in your Restaurants/Cafes. We now venture to Newquay for a decent meal with a reasonable bill!

it's just been taken over and it looks like the new people know what they're doing. amazing location, worth the trip for the home-smoked mackerel alone. loved the furniture, esp. the hammocks!

This restaurant is the best on the Island by far. We tried out many places looking for a Wedding reception venue and the quality of the food made us book, then revisit for relaxed lunches and evening meals with our guests, who all agreed it was superb.

So happy I?e found this place, great atmosphere and for a pub the foods great and lots of local stuff to eat and drink. Very relaxing and refreshing to find a place where you can eat all day and tries to do more than just your average pub.

We had heard that Brendan had taken over as chef and that Louise had moved here from the blue fish, so we just had to try it out, we had a great night. It was a misty atmospheric evening outside and you couldn't see much, a real pea-souper! We were warmly welcomed by Louise and shown 2 separate menus; a la carte and the specials. I opted for the special starter of scallops with chorizo, rocket and chilli beurre blanc; a generous portion with excellent flavour (truffle oil on the salad a bonus. My partner ate; grilled Cornish goats cheese and a balsamic cherry tomato salad -a whopping portion of delicious, crumbly cheese. For mains I was recommended the line caught sea bass served with a white chocolate risotto, unusual but fragrant and delicious, the chocolate was in the background and the bass perfectly cooked. My partner chose a risotto of artichoke, parmesan and vermouth- a wonderful mix of flavour. We were stuffed but Louise said we must try a dessert, so reluctantly we had a signature pudding from the sous chef, a dark and white chocolate panacotta which was light and delicious, my partner opting for a strawberry semi-fredo. We were the last to leave and made our slow way home through the mist, sated.
