The Fat Italian – CrosbyExquisite food! .. really would recommend to everyone and there is such a good atmosphere between staff and customers. definitely go again anytime soon. reasonably priced aswell and never heard a bad word about the restaurant! five stars!!
The Fat Italian – CrosbyMy wife and i along with two friends who were visiting us from Australia went to the pioneer wine bar in crosby on new years eve. What a let down! we had booked for the "gourmet? " buffet and had been advised by the person taking the booking that there would be hot food also. NO hot food was available. During the evening my wife went to the toilet and came back with excrement all over her pants as some lovely person who had previously been in there had what can only be described as having "diarohea" deposited this all over the toilet floor. Absolutely disgusting, my wife reported this to the staff who were very sympathetic. my wife had to leave to go and get changed. when our Australian friend paid a visit to the toilet ater nothing had been cleaned up and the cubicle was still in this disgusting state. This is a restaurant for heavens sake, how our people supposed to enjoy their food? Needless to say we left well before midnight very embarrassed for our friends on what should have been a celebratory night. I phoned the bar when we arrived home and was promised by a staff member that a manager would phone me back. nobody has had the courtesy to do this and we will not be going back again to the pioneer nor will we be recommending it to any our friends who live in the crosby area. Our friends have now returned home and god knows what they think of our decision to go to the pioneer. Yours disgusted and ashamed.
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyI had a meal at pioneer bar and brasserie last Thursday,i have to say that the food wasn't great at all in fact it was pretty poor.I was told that there was a new chef who had a cv of top places he had worked as long as his arm. I have also been informed that if i wanted a excellent meal by this top chef that it would have to be a breakfast as 'top chef' doesn't do much more than a breakfast shift .
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – Crosbyrestaurant decor fantastic, wish I could say the same for the food,we have been to this restaurant a quite a few times now , the food is a bit hit and miss, the music far too loud ,when I asked for it to be turned down , they refused, so they have lost not only our custom but that of our friends.
The Fat Italian – CrosbyHad another meal last night (Thursday) Cooked by (Im told) Michael Wichmann and Michael Abrahams. Best meal I have ever had. Shame neither Ian nor David were on hand so I could tell them how good it was!!!
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyHeld my daughters christening upstairs at Pioneer. What a fantastic venue for a function. They won't entertain 18ths or 21sts but the best location in the area for christenings, 30ths, 40ths, 50ths etc by far. Thanks to David, Ian and all the staff for a memorable and perfect day.
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyFantastic restaurant, great food, lovely atmosphere. Will visit again very soon.
The Fat Italian – CrosbyI ate here with friends last weekend for my birthday and had a really lovely time. It was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and the food was delicious. I had sea bass which was cooked to perfection. The service was very good too. I will definitely book to eat here again.
The Fat Italian – CrosbyWe thought we would try out Crosby's latest restaurant offering to see how good the food really was. Unfortunately thats as good as it got. We ordered the tuna and pork main dishes. The tuna arrived under-cooked and had to be sent back. Five minutes later the same dish arrived back. Not even a fresh tuna had been used. The pork was lovely but the bed of potato mash was cold. After totting up three drinks the whole experience cost around £30. Not exactly cheap and considering the quality of the meal, it is poor value for money. Later in the evening my wife was ill. She puts that down to the tuna.
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyAny one who knows even a modicum about food will be aware that Crosby is a gastronomic backwater, the standards required of even the most basic restaurants are sadly lacking in this area. The one bright light can be found on the corner of endbutt lane; the Pioneer Bar and Brasserie in its first year has tried to lift the desperation felt by many locals when choosing to dine out in crosby. Its a bright modern restaurant that serves ,by far, the best food in the crosby, waterloo area, although not a great restaurant, its head and shoulders above the rest, and is improving all the time. Its reasonably priced with a good wine list, this includes the house wines. The staff are helpful and keen, but lack knowledge of the food they serve...........Its worth a visit ,the best food in the area
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyDined there last Sunday . Food awful Partner had Pork Rump and the squirts for 2 days!!No one there bothered to ask us how we enjoyed the meal or we would have told them. Hand cooked chips obviously reheated! Peppercorns musty! Thought it would be a little treat, not an experience i would like to repeat. I have informed friends and colleagues not to waste their money.Very disappointing!!
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyBeen here on 3 or 4 occasions and have had a bad experience each time. Only tried so many times because its so close to home. Examples of problems are tough lamb, forgotten orders, food taking over an hour, delivering french onion soup when ordered carrot & coriander. Soup & a sandwich consisiting of the wrong soup as described plus a tiny baguette with a sprinkle of grated cheese. A real pity as would be there weekly if they got it right
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyI've been twice, both in May 08. First time, I ate in the restaurant; great choice of wines and food menu is good. There was an early bird option which includes a fair selection of meals. One thing to note: you have to order sides (veg, chips/potatoes) as extra so it's not as cheap as it may seem - still, it is not too bad! The veg was just green beans - I wish they'd have told us that before we ordered two portions... Second time I went, I stayed in the lovely bar area and had some fantastic tapas - I would recommend you try it. Get there early though - this cosy venue can fill up and deservedly so as it's a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a bite to eat.
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyMe my wife and my 2 son's enjoyed a wonderful evening at Pioneer last thursday. I would have to say the pork is outstanding and all the meals were very filling. We was served by 2 young ladys who are obviously trainned to a very high standard. Not only polite but always there to ensure you were having the best time you possibly could. The younger one of the two really provided 'Top Service'.
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyEaten at Pionner twice, the first time we had tapas which was excellent. The second time the food improved, the staff and manager were lovely, especially when the free bottle of wine arrived
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyWe have eaten at pioneer a few times since it opened and generally been pleased ,we also ate really good tapas in the bar .We also found the food very fresh and not too expensive .However the staff and manager are not too knowledgeable about the food there serving .The waitress was sweet and tried to please even if the manager lacked interest and knowledge about what he was selling
Pioneer Bar and Brasserie – CrosbyHad Sunday lunch there yesterday. The Sunday brunch menu was a roast or a meaty breakfast (no veggie) -you could also order off the main lunch menu if you asked but we weren't given the menu initially. The fire alarm went off several times while we were there which wasn't great. However the food was fine - good portions and all fresh and tasty - and the staff were helpful and apologetic so we're putting any probs down to teething issues. Nice and relaxed - will go back.
