One of the nicest afternoon teas that I have had. The staff were very attentive and friendly. A nice comfortable atmosphere. Would definitely go back again.

Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonHad a delicious afternoon tea with friends last week. Tea and drinks were good quality. Service was superb, always checking we had everything we needed and able to confidently answer any questions we had Excellent
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonBest English breakfast we have ever had out. Fantastic quality. Really lovely.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWe had a lovely afternoon tea and spa morning today (26th feb) The lady in the spa was really helpful and all the staff were fantastic. We were giving our afternoon tea in the restaurant and then a lovely lady showed us around the older part of the hotel for any future bookings in the summer where you have a terrace that is lovely in the sunshine. Thank you for such a great day ☺️
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWe had a beautiful time at hall Garth the hotel and its grounds are absolutely stunning. The staff are lovely and very helpful if I had to give one criticism it would be that we waited a little while to be seated but was nothing major and in way would it stop me returning. We look forward to enjoying the spa facilities also this month. We had afternoon tea for two and this was delightful more than enough for two and left us full most of the day
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonI came here as it was a gift from a friend was a lovely day we had prosecco afternoon tea then spa access the whole venue is really nice, had a really good day would definitely come back again staff were friendly and helpful.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonGorgeous fresh food and lovely hot drinks. The grounds and inside are beautiful, looks like it’s all refurbished including the spa area. Very modern and fresh.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonI can't rate this highly enough. The staff went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special, even going so far as to put balloons up and work out a way for there to be candles on my cake! The food was gorgeous, one of our party said the Scotch egg starter was the best he'd ever had. The receptionists were very helpful too, even printing out leaflets about the history of Hall Garth for us. Although we didn't pay for a private room the staff arranged for our party of 12 to have sole use of the Orangery. It was a wonderful experience, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was gorgeous, the staff were fantastic.! Can't thank you enough Hall Garth, we'll definitely be back!
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonEnjoyed Sunday lunch on New Years Eve but our group of 5 were the only people in restaurant making the room a little soulless. However, staff were attentive, food was tasty and we were made to feel comfortable with no pressure on us to leave.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWent for Sunday lunch x 4 of us. Meal was very poor. The beef was tough and there was no extra vegetables brought to the table. My review is late due to my being away on holiday. I feel bad that I recommeded tthe Hall Garth for Sun lunch but I had been there for afternoon tea and had stopped over with an evening meal and it was lovely. The staff were lovely but I wouldnt recommend Sunday lunch again not for the price we paid. We should have made our disappointment known at the time.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonService was great and attentive. Atmosphere is good and relaxed. Food was good, not great. I would definitely go back. The spa area was clean and good as hotels go. Busy as it was raining and no-one was playing golf. Pool was good, jacuzzi was good and comfortable. It's a jacuzzi, hardly a 3 seat sofa so I do not understand some people saying it was uncomfortable! The hotel: it's good! It's an old building with all that entails. Wooden noisy floors and so on. Only one thing: the painting could be done better and kept up to speed. All in all a great find and a lovely weekend. Staff could not be more helpful and polite. Well done
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonBetter food than expected although the restaurant is a bit soulless. There was a sixth form leavers party next door and they clearly started drinking early which I suppose made for a fun spectacle. Overall this is a budget hotel pretending to be more than it is. The food and the bar area are it's best points.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonI had a £70 spa pamper day to include spa facilities, lunch or afternoon tea, and a 55-minute massage or facial treatment. The spa staff were lovely and helpful. The pool area was so hot and steamy that I didn't need sauna or steam room and as the jacuzzi was also warm it was quite oppresive and uncomfortable. Lovely big windows could have provided some fresh air but they can't be opened as they have been sealed for security reasons. It was nice to escape to the seating area for a coffee and some air. The Stables bar is closed so lunch was in the hotel. Despite confirming a table for one the waiter expected me to be accompanied and said he didn't see the emails. Communication could be improved. I chose the chicken parfait for starter and the meat and cheese platter for my main course. The parfait and chutney were lovely but what a shame the dish didn't come with fresh toast rather than rock hard shop-bought oval-shaped toast. The salad would have been better described as wilted greens. Personally I would have been ashamed to serve the main course to family or friends let alone to paying guests. I didn't eat the blue cheese (my choice) but would have eaten the other two. The, what I think was, red Leicester was rubbery and so cold from the fridge that it was tasteless. I love Brie but the Brie that was served was also very cold, very firm, and tasteless. Terrible waste of good cheese. It was served with a selection of crackers with butter packs and a few slices each of Parma ham and some sort of sausage round along with 2 small sticks of celery, There was a small dish of green and black olives that were poor quality and bitter. There was a small dish of oil and balsamic for dipping but no bread for dipping. I asked for some which was reluctantly provided but it was the same shop-bought rock hard toast that has come with the parfait so still nothing to dip in the oil and balsamic. I did try to use it with a cracker but the oil was very heavy and the balsamic wouldn't even rise so that simply tasted of oil which was not very palatable. I left more than half of the platter. To be fair the waiter offered more cheese but what's the point of getting more of the same that I didn't want to eat? I was the only customer in the restaurant so no ambience but I did enjoy the choice of music. After a coffee back in the spa I had a body massage with Catherine and that was the best part of the day. It was very good. Overall this was a very mixed day in terms of enjoyment. I won't be rushing back.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonProbably the worst afternoon tea I’ve had. Stale sandwiches, awful quiche and poor selection of cakes. The Service was appalling. Stood waiting for over ten minutes before anyone came to show us to a table and then they disappeared. Really disappointed
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonThe breakfast and the spa was amazing.. Breakfast was very nice they was a wide selection of fruits, pastries & a full English with tea and coffee.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonDinner was ok - 'gourmet burger' looked like squashed mince and was a bit dry. The chicken was delicious. Asked for a candle but staff had no matches!? Not once did anyone ask if everything was ok/how our food was. Breakfast was very good, although the juices were empty and the coffee machine was not working so had to make do with instant coffee.
