The Wheatsheaf – DarlingtonAwesome. Seriously contemporary intelligent cooking. Complex food presented in a gloriously simplistic way, with some wonderful storytelling. Not bad for a self-taught chef. The bream was one of the best bits of fish that I've ever had. The wine list is a fascinating labour of love too.
The Raby Hunt Restaurant with Rooms – DarlingtonGood job the foods great because the staff are all sour faced.
Ming Chef – DarlingtonI had a quick lunch and a dinner at The Wonderful Foxhole a couple of weeks ago. I was very impressed by the relaxed and friendly welcome upon walking in. The atmosphere is just right and I feel I could spend a lot of time enjoying myself there. The menu looked very inviting and I was not disappointed in my food choices. My husband said it was one of the most delicious steak with some of the chops he has eaten!! Definitely will be returning again.
The Foxhole – DarlingtonVery good food food at all times.
Blue Lagoon – DarlingtonWent to Foffano's with colleagues from work, and we all agreed about the food: good tasting, fantastic quality, value for money food. Even the fussiest one in our group "wiped her plate clean"! The starters we had (King Prawns with garlic sauce, Calamari fritters and Black Pudding) were all fab. So were our mains of Ribeye steaks, Linguini pasta and Chicken Parmigiana, all beautiful!
Foffano’s Italian Cafe and Restaurant – DarlingtonWent here with a friend for tea, service was excellent , food was excellent, great menu! And a big roaring fire to keep us warm , lovely!
Foresters Arms – DarlingtonI have been here twice and both times was impressed with the food and service in general. What has prompted me to write a review here is that I recently went to a 1 Michelin star restaurant in Lancashire and was disappointed that it didn't come anywhere near the Orangery impact for the food. The Orangery was 'WOW' with almost every mouthful zings and pops of intense flavours and fascinating combinations and my Michelin experience last week was somewhat flat and flavourless in comparison even though it was presented as beautifully as Kenny's. I can't now wait to go back to the Orangery and see if it is still as fantastic as I remember!! I especially remember the confit shin beef tart....a revelation....and I see they at the moment have it done with duck leg....
The Orangery at Rockliffe Hall – DarlingtonExcellent Value - friendly staff.Try it for yourself.
George The – DarlingtonA1
Beefeater Grill – DarlingtonThe menu is always varied, cheap and very individual both in style and stock. The owners take an active role in the place and clearly really love what they do :) Overall good atmosphere, great food and a really fun place that wont break the bank. Love love love it :D
Voodoo Cafe – Darlingtonlovely meals cooked by Wendy the chef and served by lovely Maureen the longest serving barmaid
The Bay Horse – DarlingtonVisited with another female friend after seeing good reviews on other websites. never again! Food only average, service terrible but worst of all was the creepy owner who would not leave us alone. He thinks he is God's gift to women and made us feel extremely uncomfortable.
Marco Polo – DarlingtonA nice modern atmosphere, very clean and different deco compared with typical Indian restaurant. Food is very nice and highly recommendable
Table Talk Indian Diner – DarlingtonMy favourite Indian restaurant in the world! Fantastic service and wonderful food. First class all the way.....
Spice Garden – DarlingtonAmazing quality, since finding the Voodoo Cafe about eight weeks ago my husband have been bar three times and everytime the menu is different and always the best I've tasted.
Voodoo Cafe – DarlingtonI had high expectations of this place when I visited as usually restaurants within hotels, in my experience, are usually of fairly high quality. My partner and I decided to try the fixed price menu and we were heavily displeased. It was £29 for two people to order 2 courses each and have a bottle of wine. We do not drink wine, so we asked if we could replace the wine with something else. We were informed that we could not and the soft drinks we ordered were added to our bill. Our starters were quite dismal, especially the prawns and melon, where the prawns had obviously just been plopped from an defrosted Iceland packet, and the melon poorly hacked with no sign that there was any thought into presentation. These were followed by clumsily made main courses. The seafood tagliatelle contained crabsticks(!), rubbery squid, cold pieces of fish, all in a bland sauce and topped with large flakes of unmelted parmesan (as the dish was not even hot) trying to cover it all up. The pork loin "steak" was two thin pieces of pork that barely made up an entire steak , with heavily salted, stodgy potato mash, served with vegetables that clearly looked as though they were the microwaved leftovers from the lunch period that day. Or maybe even from yesterday. We were very quick to pay our (overpriced) bill and left no tip. Definitely not worth it.
The Havelock at Blackwell Grange Hotel – DarlingtonOne of the first places I tried when I moved to Darlington. A lovely tapas restaurant that is hidden behind the front of a typical pub.. It has a great selection of both Spanish and Greek tapas dishes and the quality has been both excellent and consistent. So much so that I have introduced other friends to this Darlo treat!
Old Yard Tapas Bar The – Darlington
