Oswalds restaurant was a very interesting experience. First impressions were poor, the smell of damp, stained old carpet and cheap tables as you enter are not the kind of thing you expect from somewhere that is charging the prices that they are. The service was good and staff were all very friendly. However cleanliness needs attention. The table we were sat at was sticky, to the point the dessert spoon was stuck to the table. The knives and forks did not match and the wine glasses we were given for our wine did not match and were very poor quality, again for a restaurant charging these prices I would expect a lot more. The food itself was ok, nothing special. We both had steak which had a bit of a rubbery texture but was edible, again would expect more for £29. We didn’t get to have dessert as the electric went off, totally not the hotels fault but was a little confused as to why we couldn’t have a cold dessert such as cheesecake. Overall not a great experience.
