Really good food but we waited 40 mins for fish n chips and steak pie. Too long for me but as I say good food and with the half price deal then worth it. Not sure if would pay the full price though for the mains

The service was lovely, it was fast and lady was lovely who served our food and drinks. The food was lovely and fresh, good sized portions and good deal on the food for November. The atmosphere was a bit dull, could do with the room being brighter and more welcoming like the bar area.

Great food, the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Got the impression the waitress didn't want to be there.

We had a nice meal on Wed 22nd 0ct, we had a wait of about 30mins for our main meal but this is expected. I ordered Chinese curry which was nice but to get 3 prawn crackers was a bit mean,The servers could be a little more pleasant. All in all good value for the half price Wednesday.

We arrived for food at 7.30pm, for a group of four people. 3 people had a starter and it was about a 30 min wait until the main course. So 1 member of the group never got food until 8.40pm. Steak was full of fat so half was unedable. It was also presented without the mushrooms and tomatoes. So only had half a meal. And at £28.95 this was a very expensive option. Lasagne-the mince was not cooked properly, it looked raw. A half portion of fish and chips was huge. We did have to highlight the issues with the restaurant manager , and they were apologetic and gave us 50% off our main meals. But we will not return as there has been a few people that we all know that have had the same kind of experience when dining here. It is such a shame because the last time I dined here with a different group of people the food was lovely. This was a couple of years ago now. So do not know what has happened to the establishment within this timeframe.

We booked a table for 3 on Wednesday early evening. We were attracted by the half price main meal promotion. The restaurant was fairly quiet with a couple of 2 seats and one large table of 8 or 10. I believe there was also the final group of a funeral party in the bar. We were served by a young girl and we ordered drinks first, 2 medium glasses of white wine and one zero alcohol beer .We then ordered 2 scampi and 1 enchiladas We were served our drinks and chatted for some time ,becoming very aware that nobody was being served their food orders. I can't say exact howlong we actually waited but it was well over 30 minutes. Nobody approached to acknowledge the delay. We were actually served before the large table who had arrived before us! The scampi was cooked " beyond" golden . It was overcooked. It was edible but disappointing . The enchiladas were good. When the bill arrived there was no reduction for half price Wednesday and we had also been charged for large glasses of wine! I went to the restaurant bar to query the bill. The half price was removed from the food bill but I was told we had drunk the wine and it had been a large glass. I questioned how we were supposed to know the measure of a drink in a glass with no measurements on the glass. The lady then went on to demonstrate the measures in each type of glass . I was made to feel that being served the wrong measure was my fault not that of the person who took the order or the older lady who had poured the measure. After some discussion I was told that the manager would have to authorise my payment for what I had actually ordered as opposed to what I had been served. There was no apology. It really was not the best experience.

We were celebrating a family birthday and we couldn't have picked a nicer restaurant for the occasion. The food was delicious, loved the steak pie. Good value for money, too! Only five of us but we spent a good part of the afternoon eating and drinking right there! Lovely!

My mum and sister go to the Ravenston quite regularly so we decided to have my mum's celebration for her 80th birthday there. Things could have been much better, I was disappointed. There was only one waitress who was rushed off her feet, I really felt for her. There was no hand soap in the toilets it was bone dry so had obviously ran out a while ago. I asked a staff member about it who pretended to go get some but it was never filled up. It was so unhygienic, especially since kitchen staff also have to use them. Please put out bottles if you don't have any dispenser stuff. That said, the food was good and no one in my party had any complaint to make about that, which is great. But please put on more staff on a Saturday and put out hand wash bottles!

Sorry to say but our experience yesterday was not the best. My partner and I regularly (at least 3 times a month) have a meal at The Ravelston and reccomend it to friends. Yesterday was busy, there were 3 waitressess (some times there is only 1 lady) so we chatted as we waited for about 35mins for our main course. (We hadn't been told there was a wait of 30 to 40 mins, we heard this as we were about to leave being mentioned to someone who complained they were still waiting on their main course). While we were waiting a table of 3 who had arrived just prior to us recieved only 2 main courses, the waitress had forgotten to put the third meal through when ordering from the kitchen, then our meals came out and my partners meal was not what was ordered. Although there was nothing wrong with my meal I didn't really enjoy it as I was eating on my own which I don't like doing. I am not a fast eater but was almost finished mine when my partners meal arrived. The resturant had a very heavy atmosphere as people were watching like hawks hoping their meal would be coming out next. For some reason I am unable to mark the food etc . So I will mark it here Food 5/5 Service 0/5 Atmosphere 2/5 Value for Money 5/5

Our meal was not quite as good as the last time we were there. The fish was smaller and my husband said the chips were not that great. I had a soda and lime, and it was totally flat. I did not report anything though. We won’t hurry back, sorry

Had a lovely lunch yesterday. And all the better as half price Wednesday. Great idea. However, waited nearly 50 minutes after we ordered. Staff apologised but it meant we were running late for another appointment

Came here for Afternoon Tea and sadly wouldn’t come back. The bread for the sandwiches was dry and the cakes were slimy. They also provided whipped cream and not clotted cream for the scones which is found quite peculiar as well. Service was very slow even though the restaurant was quiet and it took a while for us to get the bill as well. The waitress provided us with the wrong information when we asked for which sandwich fillings would be provided which wasn’t great considering the sandwhich filling she said incorrectly was replaced with Tuna which I can’t eat (hence me asking beforehand), the waitress also forgot to provide milk with our tea as well. All in all the afternoon tea was mediocre at best and the cakes were inedible so I would not come back. I have been to Ravelston House before for lunch and had much better food/ service so I’m not sure if there’s been a change to kitchen/ service staff but I wouldn’t return.
