Ravelston House – EdinburghMy mum and sister go to the Ravenston quite regularly so we decided to have my mum's celebration for her 80th birthday there. Things could have been much better, I was disappointed. There was only one waitress who was rushed off her feet, I really felt for her. There was no hand soap in the toilets it was bone dry so had obviously ran out a while ago. I asked a staff member about it who pretended to go get some but it was never filled up. It was so unhygienic, especially since kitchen staff also have to use them. Please put out bottles if you don't have any dispenser stuff. That said, the food was good and no one in my party had any complaint to make about that, which is great. But please put on more staff on a Saturday and put out hand wash bottles!
Ravelston House – EdinburghSorry to say but our experience yesterday was not the best. My partner and I regularly (at least 3 times a month) have a meal at The Ravelston and reccomend it to friends. Yesterday was busy, there were 3 waitressess (some times there is only 1 lady) so we chatted as we waited for about 35mins for our main course. (We hadn't been told there was a wait of 30 to 40 mins, we heard this as we were about to leave being mentioned to someone who complained they were still waiting on their main course). While we were waiting a table of 3 who had arrived just prior to us recieved only 2 main courses, the waitress had forgotten to put the third meal through when ordering from the kitchen, then our meals came out and my partners meal was not what was ordered. Although there was nothing wrong with my meal I didn't really enjoy it as I was eating on my own which I don't like doing. I am not a fast eater but was almost finished mine when my partners meal arrived. The resturant had a very heavy atmosphere as people were watching like hawks hoping their meal would be coming out next. For some reason I am unable to mark the food etc . So I will mark it here Food 5/5 Service 0/5 Atmosphere 2/5 Value for Money 5/5
Ravelston House – EdinburghOur meal was not quite as good as the last time we were there. The fish was smaller and my husband said the chips were not that great. I had a soda and lime, and it was totally flat. I did not report anything though. We won’t hurry back, sorry
Ravelston House – EdinburghHad a lovely lunch yesterday. And all the better as half price Wednesday. Great idea. However, waited nearly 50 minutes after we ordered. Staff apologised but it meant we were running late for another appointment
Ravelston House – EdinburghI have already written a review but am extremely disappointed as I have had no answer to my email
Ravelston House – EdinburghCame here for Afternoon Tea and sadly wouldn’t come back. The bread for the sandwiches was dry and the cakes were slimy. They also provided whipped cream and not clotted cream for the scones which is found quite peculiar as well. Service was very slow even though the restaurant was quiet and it took a while for us to get the bill as well. The waitress provided us with the wrong information when we asked for which sandwich fillings would be provided which wasn’t great considering the sandwhich filling she said incorrectly was replaced with Tuna which I can’t eat (hence me asking beforehand), the waitress also forgot to provide milk with our tea as well. All in all the afternoon tea was mediocre at best and the cakes were inedible so I would not come back. I have been to Ravelston House before for lunch and had much better food/ service so I’m not sure if there’s been a change to kitchen/ service staff but I wouldn’t return.
Ravelston House – EdinburghHad a lovely time apart from the very rude member of staff working in the bar area who was more bothered about finishing her shift than giving good customer service, can’t say the one that took over from her was any better either tbh. Food was excellent and the wee woman who served us was fantastic, she was an older woman with dark bobbed hair.. she really looked after us and was great fun.
Ravelston House – EdinburghService was very slow waited over hour for main course the said it would take half hour and it wasn't busy no one get us ro date one waitress ask us if we want dessert we had not had our main course
Ravelston House – EdinburghMy friend and I visited the restaurant on 20 September, our order was taken fairly quickly and our food arrived about 20 mins later. The food was lovely and our dishes were cleared quickly. We finished our drinks and had to wait quite a while to get our bill then a while longer to pay our bill. Fortunately we had our food before the waiting started however the couple next to us had to wait an hour for their food with nobody updating them or apologising for the delay until they complained.
Ravelston House – EdinburghI booked a table at your restaurant at 18.45 pm on Wednesday 17th of September for 6 adults and 1 child. We arrived on time and got our own drinks from the bar, the young waitress came to our table around 19.05 pm we asked if we Could order separately so to have separate bills, she said that she was new and didn’t know how to do that so we said that we would try and work it out later. She went away and returned 10 minutes later, 3 of our group requested starters so she wrote that down then went away again for a short time, anyway the starter arrived and went around 19.30pm we all sat until 20.20pm waiting for our main meal I asked what was happening with the food and was told that they were busy but by this point there was only 3 tables occupied anyway when my wife’s and my meal arrived, fish and chips the fish was only warm we wanted to return it but had already waited for over an hour for it to be served so we reluctantly ate it there was no apology’s from staff about the delay we only found out because we asked. Anyway I am writing this to say that it was one of the most abysmal outings we have experienced.
Ravelston House – EdinburghMy Family arrived to a lovely smile from the waitress she was great . She showed us to our table then she handed us over to a young lady who was great as well. The atmosphere was spoiled by a table of drunk loud mouth people our Grandson was in our company and he was a bit upset with the noise. But the food was excellent and overcame any small problems the staff were lovely. You cannot count for adults behaviour. Thank your staff for great service and great food.
