Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonWhat an amazing place staff are well presented and well trained! I had the sea bass special cooked to perfection! they had some amazing musicians playing live. very quirky gem of a place!
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonHad some fabulous meals here - definitely worth a try. The food was delicious and I loved the decor, especially in the upstairs eating area. I tried the beer-battered fish and chips with minty mushed peas and it was absolutely fabulous. Can't wait to go back
Cartford Inn – Great Ecclestonafter being a regular for many years, myself, brother and parents decided to have a meal there, the service was 1st class and the meal itself was the best we have had for a long time, good size portions, homemade style cooking - well worth the try - i can recommend the liver and bacon !!
White Bull Hotel – Great EcclestonFound my way there on Sunday, boy was i happy to find it. To start i had the tomato soup with artisan mini loaves. The flavour and presentation of the soup was spot on. Although i feel the soup could of been a little bit thicker. Then for my main i went for the signature dish of oxtail pudding. The oxtail was tender the pastry divine. the mash was luxuriously buttery, the sauce i feel was of a gourmet packet variety, but still very good.
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonThis may seem boringly similar to my last recommendation of December 2007 but, on 7th July 2008, whilst my daughter was over from New Zealand with two of our Grandsons, we met-up with our Son, daughter-in-law and our two other Grandsons at this lovely establishment. We have no affiliation with the licensees of the Ship and nothing to gain other than we know that we can go there and now expect everything including meals, service, hospitality and cleanliness to be superb. In that we had four fairly boisterous but polite grandchildren, (whom we made certain didn't infringe upon other diners) I have to add that the unusual summer's evening being warm and sunny was more than complemented by such a lovely well kept play area for the children to enjoy whilst the older ones had a quiet drink prior to dining. Whilst all of our party enjoyed their meals, I have to say that my meal of 'Fish un Chips' was just the same - Brill. Well no, it wasn't 'Brill' - it was simply beautifully 'battered' Haddock. That'll do me! I still, as before, have to further add that a very similar, enjoyable well prepared and efficiently served meal can be obtained in my own locality of North Lancashire at the Greyhound Hotel, Halton, Lancaster or the Ship Hotel at Caton.
Ship at Elswick – Great EcclestonI can highly recommend The Cartford Inn. We stayed overnight and Patrick and Julie were very friendly, as were the staff. The rooms are comfortable and are better than many 'luxury' hotels. We ate in the restaurant at night and we were very impressed all round. This is really a Gem of a place and we hope to return later in the year. 10/10
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonMy wife and I moved into the area last October and tried out all the pubs round about. After downing quite a few beers along the way we found that this pub suited our needs, in every way, with regards to great guest beers, and exceptional value for money with regards to food. The pub offers an open fire with a very friendly atmosphere, and most of all I can take my Beagle in for a pint as well, yes a pub that actually lets dogs in fantastic. Big thumbs up for the new landlord & landlady as they are doing a superb job.
White Bull Hotel – Great EcclestonOur family gathering of 12 for Lunch, 10 for accommodation and evening meal on Saturday thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, without exception. From the very start a sincere warm friendly welcome, then through to the superb rooms & decor, great thoughtful service, magnificent food accompanied by fantastic home brewed ales etc. and a wonderful breakfast the next day. They really have the full package of staff, decor, food, drink etc. finely tuned and fully deserve this recommendation. If Gordon Ramsey did this one we are all convinced that he would simply have absolutely nothing to do but enjoy it too!
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonThis is a great place, decor and food wise ! The staff however really let it down, no welcome, no smiles, you have to ask for everything !! I would not go back, but to be fair, the food was good !
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonExcellent! Recently stayed overnight on business and what a pleasant change to the usual chain hotels. Would recommend to anyone. Great food! Great choice of well kept real ales! Very comfortable room! All held together by welcoming and friendly staff. Superb!!
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonWe recently enjoyed an overnight stay at the lovely Cartford inn and i highly recommend it. The food was excellent as was the accommodation. Very friendly welcome and superb service. I thought the decor was exceptional and very tasteful yet cosy. ( a pity about our football score but we can`t blame them for that )Blackpool 5 Charlton 3 but the stay made up for that !
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonMy wife and family are 'officianados' of good family food and hospitality toward well-behaved children, (can't abide children running riot) whereas 'Bohemian Me' am the ultimate critic of 'fish un chips'. On 28th December 2007 we visited this lovely place (originating from Lytham and now living in North Lancashire, the old 'Ship' was a 'stamping ground pub' for me in the sixties) with our family consisting of a 'one-year-old' a 'five-year-old', a couple of late something 'thirty-year-olds' and a couple of wrinkly sixty plus. The 'one-year-old' grandson was catered for on a 'high-chair' by food provided by his mother without any rankle from the establishment and apart from me, the other four of the rest of our party were delighted by their meals. That leaves me, the 'officianado' of 'fish un chips'. I can but say that the whole early evening was magnificent and that the 'fish un chips' could only be equalled by the 'Greyhound Hotel at Halton near Lancaster. (If you were to sell fish and chips in Blackpool, Whitby or even Burton by the Water, you would make a fortune) Thank you so very much for such a wonderful plate of proper Lancashire food, for your service, your 'Staffs' pleasant attentiveness and indeed the fact that not only were our grandchildren 'well catered for' but that they were also obediently quiet and polite throughout the whole of our stay with you! My wife and I have recommended your establishment ever since. Should any of your readers be within the Lancaster area, I would also recommend the Greyhound Hotel, Halton for a similar reception and food. Michael T. Loose

Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonOur family of 20 people have just had a Sunday lunchtime three course meal and the verdict by everyone was outstanding. We have visited most Inn's/restaurants in the locality over recent years and this currently stands top of our list. The recent new ownership and refurbishment has made a significant difference. We shall be back.
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonThe food has been the best I've had for a good while with very lavish portions, the service was very friendly. I have been there several times, with each experience getting better. I would recommend the sirloin steak, it's absolutely applaudable.
