I would definitely recommend the Red Lion as the service and food is superb and the owners are very helpful and professional..In the autumn/winter there is a cosy fire

My wife Chris and I went to the Winchester restaurant on Monday 23.08.2010 to celebrate her birthday. On entering the venue we thought the appearance was excellent -minimalistic but stylish. We were greeted warmly by friendly staff and served without delay. No pressure was made with drinks but we chose a couple of small Cobra beers to put us in the mood while we chose from the extensive menu. We eventually settled for Vegetable Pakora for Chris's starter and Goan Style Beef for mine and clay oven Grilled Chicken With Black Beans for Chris's main course and Tandor Roasted Rack Of Lamb for mine with a side order of spiced chickpeas and saffron rice to share. Well, we were absolutely captivated and thrilled by the food. We had tasters of each other's choices and thought everything was just excellent. Spicy yet not too hot and all the meat was perfectly cooked - tender and succulent. The only sadness was finishing the meal(although we were certainly satisfied by the portions). It's our 16th Wedding Anniversary next month and guess where we are planning to celebrate?? Right first time! Many thanks to the manager and staff for a terrific evening.

Have been visiting Marchwood each year for the last 10 years. We used to visit the Bold Forester for the kiddies garden, but as the kiddies grew up we frequented the eating area. It was quite bad, so avoided it like the plague UNTIL THIS SUMMER. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Friendly and welcoming. Good value meals. We initially popped in for a pint after a bike ride and after a look around and chat to the owner returned the following day - a group of 8 - and thoroughly enjoyed the carvery. We enjoyed it so much that my husband and I returned a couple of days later for late lunch (about 2.30pm) when we enjoyed a Mixed Grill and Wexford Steak. Only wish we lived closer so we could make it our local

The Delightful Cantonese Restaurant, provides excellent food with very good service. Also used for takeaway service which is also very good.

Unprofessional - Obelisk Hotel - 20 July 2010 I play in a band and we took 2 bookings at the Obelisk Hotel several months ago. When I telephoned them two weeks prior to the first event they tell us it's cancelled. Nobody from the Hotel bothered to contact me to inform me of this, saying "We couldn't find your number" despite clearly leaving my details for them upon booking. This is massively unprofessional behaviour and costs me money as I do it for a living. I could've taken bookings for both those dates and now will have to go without through no fault of mine. I wonder how they treat their hotel guests...

Disappointed that we couldn't get entry to the lightship, as you have to be a member! No where does it say that you have to be a member!! On the plus side ..we did have a really fantastic meal in Landers.

DO NOT TRY TO GET FOOD HERE MOVE RIGHT ON TO THE GOLDEN LION DOWN THE ROAD.......we tried before 1pm on Wednesday 31 March, after travelling from Norfolk with two elderly visitors, they would not even give us coffee and a couple of bowls of chips, and this is the second time it has happened to us at this pub, it will not happen a third as we will go straight to Diane and the staff at the Golden Lion who were also busy but much more welcoming.....

A good range of choices on the menu at reasonable prices. Choice of portion size on some dishes. Real ale available at the bar. Does get busy on Sunday lunchtimes.

The Old Ship – Lee On The Solent

A gem of a pub with good sized portions of food. Good selection of real ale. Friendly bar staff and good service.

Their food is ok but it is not quite up to my expectation. I don't mind paying more for excellent food but this is definitely not the special one. Their service could put you off as they could be quite rude and intrusive maybe that they are in the prime business location where there is a lot of passing trades. So why should they worry about repeated custom.

Why?,when you find a good take away they mess(to be polite) it up!...Ordered food tonight. They got a dish wrong. They offered to bring meat to go in dish if I paid?!.After negotiation a meat was coming no charge..It came with an even hotter sauce!.I phoned and complained they laughed at me!!!!.I told them the rest of the meal was great, but the dish being hotter was not on.I offered for them to try different dishes but they weren't interested..Well saving sauces, lets see what the paper reviewers have to say!.

Kerelai food is the best Indian food we have had outside of India. Really delicious selection of dishes for our vegan, vegetarian and meat eating family! Friendly service, good price and fab food. Haven't found such authentic taste anywhere else in the uk.
