Danielle’s Bistro – Hexhami traveled all the way from Manchester to dine at saathi's because i heard from my friends it is the best restaurant in the U.K!..
Saathi Indian Cuisine – HexhamWe've been to Saathi off and on for a while now and I was there for a meal with my other half last week and for what you pay, I wasn't impressed (I think their prices have just gone up recently). Also, the service wasn't quite right. We did go on Saturday night but it all felt a bit rushed. There was no time to relax in between courses, the main courses arrived immediately after the starters. As I couldn't eat my meal straightaway, it went cold quite quickly. Overall not a good experience.
Saathi Indian Cuisine – HexhamFantastic food, great staff, well worth a visit.
Saathi Indian Cuisine – HexhamFrom the moment you walk through the door of the idyllic Battlesteads, the worries and cares of modern day life seem to melt away. The welcome from Dee, Richard and their team is as warm as the log burning fires. Beautifully kept cask beers have rightly won the 2010 Best Pub in Britain award and the highest qualities are also reflected in the imaginative menu which takes full advantage of the ecologically produced fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the Hotel's spectacular gardens. A summer luncheon "al fresco" in the garden with one of the hotels famous ice creams to finish, "succulent" dinner on a frosty winter's eve with Dee's "to die for" bread and butter pudding can only be enhanced by a nightcap or two in the bar, a restful night's sleep and a hearty Northumbrian breakfast which you can "walk off" in the spectacular, rolling hills which surround the village. Perfection.
Battlesteads – HexhamHave stayed twice at Battlesteads and longing to return. Richard, Dee and the team run a fabulous operation and the food, beers and accommodation cannot be faulted. Best of all this is a genuinely 'green' business; driving down costs and waste, caring for the environment and proving that doing this is not at odds with running a excellent business.
Battlesteads – Hexhamwe had a wonderful evening at this restaurant and couldn't decide which was nicer the food the surroundings or the service as they were all so good. a restaurant we will visit again and again even though we live in Durham and have to travel to get there unbelievably good
Bouchon Bistrot – Hexhamwe found this place by accident while driving around the area trying to find a nice place to eat. What a find-great service, amazing food, superb wine! We will definitely hunt this place out again
Bistro En Glaze – HexhamWe had a fabulous meal at this restaurant and will certainly be back as we live in the next town. We have tried all the Indian restaurants in Hexham in this is the best.
Saathi Indian Cuisine – Hexhamfantastic food, the best in the area.we will recommend this to our friends. outstanding stopped us going to corbridge
Eastern Spice – HexhamUnfortunately, our last visit to Bouchon was rather a disappointment. We had asked for a table upstairs but were told on arrival that this wasn't possible. However, other diners arrived and were ushered up there. We put this aside to concentrate on the food; a starter of scallops was tasty but far too small and the French onion soup was lacking in depth and richness. I went for the roasted bream which was pleasant but unspectacular, my partner's lamb tagine was also deemed 'bland'. Even our favourite pud, the clafoutis was overcooked and rubbery. I only hope this was a one-off dud evening because all our previous visits have been very enjoyable. The service was as it always has been; efficient and charming.
Bouchon Bistrot – HexhamMy husband and I have been several times to this restaurant and every time the food has been fabulous. Infact when I am we are deciding where to go for a meal it always comes back to Bistro En Glaze. The Beef Bourguignon is fantastic with great hunks of beef and veg in a delicious gravy. Baby stuffed peppers with goats cheese are a must for starter as is the black pudding with mushroom risotto topped with a poached egg (my husbands fav). All in all, the food is great, the atmosphere is relaxing, not the cheapest in the world but definitely worth a visit!!
Bistro En Glaze – HexhamMy partner and I ate here on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy. The only negative - we had to ask to be taken to our table after being forgotten about at the bar for a while, but once we were seated the service improved and we realised it had been worth the wait as the food was superb. Would highly recommend a visit here and suggest you try the pigeon skewers and Caribbean Pirate Stew with Jerk Chicken, King Prawns and Chorizo - delicious! We will definitely be returning and hopefully very soon!
Bistro En Glaze – HexhamVery enjoyable meal here this week. Friendly, good atmosphere and excellent food. Interesting menu; slightly different items from run of the mill Indian restaurants. The dishes were flavoursome and nicely presented, well spiced from a flavour aspect, clean rather than muddy, but with a tendency to be on the mild side which is no bad thing. Thoroughly recommended.
Saathi Indian Cuisine – HexhamI find it strange that nobody has yet reviewed this superb restaurant. It has being part of Hexham for many many years. Hexham has a number of very good Indian restaurants but try this one, the food is remarkable. The service is slower than one might expect but I get the impression its all freshly cooked. The best madras on the north east. It tasted like no other madras. Stunning spices tingle on the palate, a beautiful texture and chicken so tender. No other restaurant has equalled the madras I have here. Excellent.
Diwan E Am Tandoori – HexhamWe dropped in here for lunch on our way through Hexham and, having heard nothing about the restaurant before, were very impressed indeed. I had duck confit salad to start which was simple, light and delicious. This was followed by ham hock and toulouse sausage with lentils, which was lighter than it sounds and very tasty indeed. We had no time for dessert unfortunately but would definitely go back. The service was friendly and prompt too.
