We ate there this evening. My wife's Carbonara was fine however the 'chips' I ordered for £2.50 turned out to be 13 undercooked chunks of potato. The pizza was doughy, tasteless and undercooked. Issues occur in all businesses and I had no problem with it, had it been resolved however the waitress was so rude, even arguing with me, that we will never eat there again. Eventually, after receiving a lecture from the waitress, we were refunded the cost of the pizza and chips (because we insisted).

Went to this place on last weekend, worst experience ever! Waited over an hour for a table and then when finally got to it, it was still dirty from previous diners. The head Waitress was so rude and arrogant about it as if she wasn't bothered. The food was nice but the service and attitude of the staff is much to be desired for.

Have eaten at Mama's twice now and couldn't recommend it more!!! Food is incredible and they've really made a difference to the restaurant since the new owners took over. It feels like you're eating in a fancy city centre place, but the prices are super reasonable. I'd book if I was you as it was busy, but well worth it. They do a really good happy hour and lunch time deal at bargain prices too.

Great sunday dinner, all fresh food & loads of gravy (just needs homemade yorkshire puddings) Very friendly staff & locals

Veggie

Lovely place, staff very welcoming, food great. One criticism however, only one vegetarian main meal on menu in restaurant. More veggie meals are available, but you have to ask the waitress who will tell you what they are! You can't have the fun of choosing your meal with your companions as you have to make an instant decision. This aside, it is well worth a visit.

The Floater's Mill has got to be the best food around the area. The Sunday lunches are superb and just tonight I tried the tapas which were delicious and wonderful value. It is a very homely, friendly atmosphere and every time I go (which is quite often), I see the same faces - so that speaks for itself doesn't it? Happy, contented customers. Well done Trevor and Pat

What can i say simply your good regular family PUB. i have been visiting the Burn for more than 15 years and have seen managers and staff come and go (the last Management couple Steve&Julie thankfully have gone!!!) - I have seen the Pub change throughout the years and once again this seems to be happening (for the good this time). The Burn in recent years has seen (like most) an increase in lower class of trade fueled by cheap drink prices and SKY sports, definitely a place to avoid with the wife and kids UNTIL NOW!!!. Thankfully in the past year myself, My wife, Daughter and grandchildren have been welcomed into a pub that is Family friendly, clean&tidy and warm. Now with No sky it is a pleasure to once again enjoy PUB FOOD at fantastic prices on your door step. One Important thing to remember The Burn Is Proud to be a FAMILY PUB it does exactly what it says on the tin. RUMOUR HAS IT THAT A REFURB IS DUE EARLY 2008. LONG MAY ITS RISE TOO SUCCESS CONTINUE!!!

Earlier this year a few friends and I visited the Burn to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately we didn’t have a pleasant experience due to the rudeness and attitude problem of the assistant manager and other staff. One of the men in our group complained at the bar that the Budweiser was warm. The woman behind the bar refused to exchange his bottles or provide a refund and removed another couple of bottles from the fridge and remarked that they were cold, but then refused to oblige when he asked to feel them too. Our next issue was with the food. My partner and his sister's meals were burned to a crisp and the ‘salad’ which accompanied them was virtually non existent and looked like it had been sitting out for a few days. When the assistant manager came to take away the plates they remarked that the food was not as good as it usually is. He shrugged his shoulders and walked away, returning a few moments later to tell them very rudely that they would not be getting a refund and certainly did not apologise. Later in the evening, my partners sister had gone to the bathroom and returned to find her (full) glass of wine had been taken away by the bar staff. One of our group went to ask about it. The assistant manager, who was behind the bar, was rude to him and would not apologise for taking the drink away as she was not at her seat at the time (apparently now in order to keep your drinks you have to remain seated at all times and save your bladder for between drinks only). He held up a glass of rose from behind the bar and told us that this was her drink and she could have it back. Remarking on the fact that we did not know where the glass had been since it had left the table he did not want it back. Tony said ‘Well, if you’re worried that someone has drunk out of it, here…’ and proceeded to pour the wine into a half-pint glass, and then slammed it agressively back on the bar. We remarked that a fresh glass should be offered, but he was told that if she wanted a fresh glass she’d have to pay for one. We later spoke to Tony who reluctantly gave his full name on a slip of paper. When asked for the manager’s name, he told her that he was the manager and would not supply his supervisors name. Luckily we already knew it. I began visiting the Burn over 5 years ago and this is the only time I have ever had a bad experience. I even took my family for our Christmas lunch last year. We sent him an e-mail, but nothing was ever done about it. Their lack of response got our hackles up further when I received a recent letter asking me if I wished to return for Christmas again this year. I will definitely not be.

The Prospect Changed its name two years ago when the new landlord a professional chef took over to The Country Park Inn since then its gained e reputation for excellent food at a modest price. The evening menu and Sunday lunches are amongst the best pub food I'v tasted in the north east Mack
