Beetlebird

My husband and I eat regularly at the Oyster Catcher. The food is always good, although the service unfortunately isn't. The staff are helpful but always under pressure consequently things get forgotten or arrive very late. On our last visit we were presented with the requested pots of tea, tea is only available for on so two pots arrived, one without a lid as it had been lost and the other very stained and with a chipped spout. The server was very apologetic but it is the attention to detail that is important. The decor is wonderful and moves this carvery well in front of local competition (i.e Tobycarvery) and it is good value. The presentation of the teapots devalued the whole experience - dirty, bits missing - do they care? probably but not completely!

I live very close to lambwath pub. I like to go for a very nice carvery and a beer. I also like to go for a nice catch up with friends occasionally. Staff are very pleasant its lovely and clean. I highly recommend for a carvery nice and cheap you get all the vegetables and a choice of meats turkey, beef or gammon you also get stuffing and a traditional yorkshire pudding which are lovely. If you as you may get 2 yorkshires or 2 stuffing or maybe neither. Highly recommended. nice family lunch and very cheap prices hard to beat!

My daughter and son-in-law held their wedding reception here in a marquee in the garden. The food was superb and plentiful with a separate menu catering for the younger guests. The reception morphed into the evening party seamlessly. Nothing was too much bother for the staff who smiled all the way through the celebrations. I would recommend the Ship to anyone who is planning a celebration of any kind.

My boyfriend and I have been a few times and the only 'problem' we had was choosing WHAT to eat! There was so much choice on the menu and we have tried to have something different each time - we have never been disappointed in our choices. The food is delicious. My boyfriend has been to Thailand and he said that eating there almost “took him back” because the food and atmosphere is so authentic. The staff where beautiful uniforms with pretty flowers in their hair and you really do feel as though you are in Thailand. There was one occasion where the staff had got my drink order incorrect, however they were quick to rectify and very apologetic. We both recommend Thai House Restaurant, Hull.

Having eaten at napoleons on several occasions now its easy to see why the restaurant is always busy.....the food is fantastic!my wife and i dined on a Saturday night we both ate the scallops which were served on a chorizo rissoto, the flavours were great!i followed this with salmon, minted peas, mash potato and asparagus a brilliant combination.my wife had a Thai chicken dish which she asures me tasted as good as it looked!it took us a while to get our desert menus but it was worth waiting for!i finished with a treacle tart and my wife had ice cream and sorbets which came with its own cornet and flake to build your own ice cream!since visiting last time the restaurant has had a nice decor change, but its the consistency of the food and unique atmosphere that keeps us coming back.

As one of my regular haunts when in Hull, I can honestly state I have yet to have a bad night at Operetta! The food is authentic, lovingly prepared and presented and consistently great. I have taken groups of very discerning diners on several occasions and never had a single complaint from any of my guests. I agree with another comment that the view out of the window is a little bleak but please berate the council about this, not the restaurant. Besides, who's interested in the view out of the window when you've just had a Filletto Modenese presented to you??

The last time I visited this was in 2007 so a return visit was due. This time on a Monday evening and the pub was almost empty apart form a darts match taking place. Two TVs were on showing the football and music was playing too. I must say that the décor has improved since my last visit but alas still no real ale.

Visited the pub on a Tuesday late evening and found it empty apart from a ladies darts match being played. The pub has 2 bars and a restaurant area and I noticed a pool table. A nice little pub with friendly staff and it might be worth a visit at a busier time.

Completely horrendous. I took my elderly grandparents here for dinner, approximately 4pm. There was only about two other tables in the restaurant and we were still left waiting for almost 30 minutes before being shown to the carvery. I asked twice how long it would be and the 'waitress' barked back that ot would be 2 minutes on each occasion. When we did go up to the carvery there were limited, dry vegetables - we were left waiting another 5 minutes before the new carrots arrived. By this point we had spotted a big fly sat on the turkey so enough was enough! We left, and will not go back. Me and my boyfriend left this restaurant about 3 weeks ago too because we were left for ages before our order was taken. We ordered 2 carveries, was left for another 10 minutes then told there was not enough meat left! A shambles, completely unable to wait upon less than 10 customers, god knows what it would be like if it was full. Do not go here.

I recently held a party for my friends birthday in the restaurant and it was nothing but short of perfection. The food and service was the best i have ever had when dining out, and the fact they where serving a large party we all got our meals at the same time. We had the dine in style menu that included a £5 chip so we could have a gamble, they also provided us with instruction on the games before we played... and i WON. Cleanliness 5/5 food 5/5 service 5/5 cant wait to go back ....

I have been visiting this great little place since the day it opened and have have always been impressed by the quality of food and standard of service which is friendly and efficient. The range of food on the menu is impressive and there is a fabulous choice of breads/ bagels/wraps to go with the imaginative fillings. Always worth a visit when in town!

I would recommend you miss this one out. The quality has deteriorated very quickly. A group of us from work had a Christmas meal there & enjoyed a good night. Four of us called back last week & were very disappointed. The majority of it was cold & when we asked the chef to replenish the vegetables we were told that it would be replaced when the dishes were empty. In other words eat the dried up remains & we'll bring out fresh for the next group. We told the waitress when she came to our table. After discussing the matter with "management" she came back to offer sweets or coffees - too late we wanted a nice main course. We won't be returning & we will pass this on to anyone we know.

Venue, service, & food are all fantastic here, 10 out of 10!! You can even see into the kitchen behind the bar through a large window & its cleaner than my kitchen at home.
