The whole experience was exceptional, made welcome upon entry. Taken straight to our seats and soon served with our teas. We all enjoyed the savoury afternoon tea, something none of us had encountered before. The soup was beautifully presented in glass jars, quite unique. It was hot, tasty and well seasoned. The hot wrap and pasty were also another unique experience, flavours again very tasty. The hot drinks were plentiful and to know we could have a top up was much appreciated. Never had that offered before. Extremely good value and look forward to enjoying another afternoon tea.

Very satisfying dinner on a Thursday evening when the restaurant was quite busy. Good atmosphere with well-spaced tables and minimal noise. Our starters were smoked salmon, goat's cheese both delicious: mains arancini/parmesan crisps, lamb chump/crispy kale equally so: dessert cheese board (outstanding) and strawberry parfait (oh dear, the only poor item, very small and bland, on a plate with a pile of biscuit crumbs). The rioja blanco was exceptional and perfectly chilled, the malbec also good. Table staff very friendly and helpful.

The whole experience of the evening meal was outstanding. The food was of the highest quality with so many tastes to enjoy. Well worth the cost. The staff serving were efficient and so friendly. The whole meal was made even more enjoyable because of a very relaxed atmosphere of the castle environment. After the meal we sat by the lovely log fire with our coffees and soaked up the whole ambiance of the castle.

What a lovely place to spend an afternoon having afternoon tea..Loved the soup in a bottle but my husband would of preferred a bowl of soup..Everything was enjoyable..Thankyou..

Afternoon tea was delicious — especially the tiny bottles full of soup — and the location is fantastic. The overall atmosphere was friendly and informal. Highly recommended; we very much hope to come back!

We had a 5* afternoon tea at Augill Castle recently. Everything was amazing. Lovely food, gorgeous castle, polite and attentive staff with a special mention for Jude who was amazing, a great welcome and a service second to none. It was a beautiful day, it was a dream to sit in the garden with drinks and to soak up the quiet atmosphere and stunning scenery. Can highly recommend, we will definitely be back.

We arrived at the castle on a cold gloomy May afternoon and in no time we received a very warm welcome and were invited to sit infront of the roaring fire on very comfortable seating. In no time we were served tea and coffee followed quickly by our afternoon tea which was lovely consisting of Chilli puff , chicken and mozzarella wrap which were nice but not what we expected with an afternoon tea, the soup was hot and delicious and the scones and cakes were simply Devine, nicest scone I've ever had ! The setting and castle are out of this world even with snippets of historical information dotted around the lounge which was a nice touch. The staff were all very nice and genuine and friendly. We will be back and look forward to our next visit to this wonderful castle. Best wishes Max & Lesley

Brilliant afternoon tea, not classical but a lovely mix of savoury and sweet. The venue is such a lovely place and we felt very welcome. We loved everything about the tea and the afternoon.

Lovely to have a hot savoury in the afternoon tea. The food was delicious. The staff could be heard arguing in the kitchen during the course of the afternoon however this did not detract from the afternoon as we quite like to people watch and eavesdrop in on conversations.

We had a fabulous afternoon at Augill Castle on the 8th May celebrating my 60th birthday with an afternoon tea. We were given the option to sit inside or out due to the beautiful sunshine. The garden is set up with furniture and umbrellas to allow shade. The castle and grounds are spectacular and the views are wonderful across the Cumbrian/Yorkshire countryside. The food is hand made, great choice of savoury and desserts which on every occasion has been outstanding. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We have been several times and stayed over. This is my favourite place and worth the 1.5 hour journey from our home in Lancashire. Excellent value for money too and is well worth the experience. Will be back soon. Thanks to Augill Castle for my making my 60th birthday trip so fabulous !! Donna

A very enjoyable stay in the castle. The room was very comfortable, although the decor was a little tired. Very good food and great service.
