Great food tasting of France in the UK
Bistrot Pierre – Leamington SpaIncredibly rude male waiter who had attitude when we asked very politely for a QC so we could order from the table, then was again offended that we asked what our table number was as there was no marking on the table. Seemed to be the only group of people following the 1 way system when going to the toilet, but got stopped by some kind of manager and interrogated about if we had a table or if we’d just walked through the back entrance, we explained we had a table, but he proceeded to follow us all the way through the bar and out to our table to ensure we weren’t lying????? I didn’t see him following anybody else around. Group of 6 and spent over £200 on drinks and food. Only positive was a lovely blonde waitress, everyone else was MISERABLE and rude. Can’t think of anything worse than returning. Drinks are so expensive too, paired with rude service, would not recommend. Value for money and service is a 0 but for some reason the lowest you can rate is 1.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaI booked a table for 4 people for dinner on a Saturday. We were taken to a high table with stools, not a real table to sit around. This was very close to the entrance door, people were coming in all the time being very loud. The music so was loud, we could not hear anything. We were told that we had to order from an app. We very quickly decided to leave. We won't be going there any time soon!
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaI’m afraid my review is as bad as all the others. Booked a table for Sunday at 4pm, just for drinks. Wasn’t asked if we wanted indoor or outside but we’re put outside. It was very cold out there, we asked to out the heaters on but was told they weren’t working. It was like a crèche outside with kids screaming and running riot, no social distancing . We used the app to order our drinks which took 30 mins to come, very small choice of gin which I was very surprised and disappointed with. Won’t be rushing back there in a hurry !!!
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaUnimpressed by lacklustre, rude service and very busy atmosphere. Very little social distancing in place and drunk customers wandering and dancing everywhere.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaI attended the bar on saturday night with 3 friends. When we arrived, we were sat outside at the front, we agreed as we were told there was a heater - it didn't provide any heat. We were not advised that the outside closed at 11, and were told to leave aout 5 minutes before, baring in mind the inside doesn't close then. We placed our first drinks order at around 9pm, it took 50 minutes to receive a cocktail and a j20 - and this was only delivered to the table after speaking to a manager. We had also tried to find out how long the drinks would be by asking at the bar, but were met with rudeness and told to just wait. Whilst waiting for the first set of drinks, we ordered some more, which again failed to materialise. I went to chase again with the manager as it had been another 30 mins from ordering. When I was talking to the manager, a staff member dropped a tray of drinks which smashed and the glass and wine went all over feet, and ended up in my shoe. This was met with "do you want some shots". Baring in mind that I don't drink and was driving, this isn't exactly helpful. I wasn't even offered a soft drink which costs absolutely nothing. We also asked if we could move to a table inside, as it was freezing and raining. We could see there were empty tables where people had left, but were told that people were queing outside so no. I couldn't understand the logic of not allowing us to move inside, especially given the treatment so far. We were consistently brushed off, rudely spoken to by bar staff, waitied ridiculous times for drinks, especially given that we were ordering gin and tonics,I understand you said you were busy, but given the covid guidelines, you were no where near capacity so I dread to think what the service reduces to given the low level we received. Given that we are were group of 30 year old women, who had just come to enjoy some cocktails after our dinner, it was very clear that the focus was on young clientele getting drunk rather than ensuring everyone else received any level of service. I'm sure if I was 18, already drunk and offered rounds of free shots for late drinks none of this would be an issue. I want to support businesses locally, especially at the moment but rude, dismissive service is not acceptable especially given how much you charge for average drinks. This was my first time to Bedford Street and likely my last.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaBooked a table with friends for Saturday night. Atmosphere was good and COVID-19 restrictions were in place. However, certain people were not following the guidelines and the staff didn’t tell them otherwise. Also ordering drinks through the app is awful. We were waiting 22 minutes for a corona! Needs to be a better system in place. Maybe table service and then pay the bill at the end? Staff were ok but one member if staff had really poor hygiene.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaAfter booking a table in advance, we had to wait outside for about 15 minutes, not an issue, however, when making a reservation nothing mentioned that will be sharing table with another group. After 30mins at the table, were told by waiter that this table is booked by someone else in 15 mins. Again when making reservation nothing mentioned about time limit nor at the time when taken to the table by the waiter. We were told at that stage that tables are booked for 2 hours, but being asked to had table back after 30 mins. Not very organised.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaAbsolutely terrible from start to finish. Uninterested door staff, very poor service and people crammed in tight during Covid-19 times were all just completely unacceptable. Never again.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaUnfortunately I didn’t have a good experience. I had pre booked for just drinks with 2 friends. Even though we had booked we had to wait about 15 mins as they had let others sit at our table so had to wait for them to go. Once they were removed we even had to ask for our table to be cleaned as they were in a rush to get us seated they had forgot and this is really serious due to covid ! Once seated we ordered through the new system on our phones and paid but then got told they didn’t have cocktails on the menu so couldn’t order them even though the app let us order them. We spoke to 3 different members of staff to try and help us and waited around for 20 mins but we were completely ignored with no drinks still. In this time the bouncer in the cue was having trouble with drunken teenagers and another 2 young lads were being kicked out too. The atmosphere was not what we had expected as felt like a student night gone wrong and there was no social distancing in place as people were walking around everywhere , staff couldn’t hear you so were right up close to you too and no one was supervising the toilets so there was big cues all scrammed in together. It was a disaster so we left and went home. The staff were polite but that was the only positive I can think of. I did express my concerns to a gentlemen when I left and he was apologetic but it was too late at this point. We have been to other places and felt covid safe and service was amazing through aps etc and was easy and nice so it was really disappointing to come here and not have the same experience and it ruined our evening . They can’t help what customers turn up but I do think they need to turn very drunk customers away rather than let them in as covid does need to be taken seriously and guidelines need to be kept to.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaI have been to Bedford Street many times over the years and have also enjoyed a couple of visits since the covid restrictions have been in place. Whilst the recent visits have been in the day, service has been excellent as usual. However, I was very disappointed with how things were run on Saturday night. I had booked a table several days in advance for 8pm. Upon arrival there was a large queue so I went to the front to ask about where those with bookings should stand. We were told by the bouncers that everyone in the queue had bookings so to go and stand at the back. We waited 15 mins before asking those in front of us if they had booked ,of which they hadn’t, so I went back to the front of the queue to query this. I was told by the same bouncer to wait in the queue and they would call us. At this point a large party of over 12 walked straight into the bar without queuing, stating they had a booking. I had to go up to the front for a third time to ask about this and by this point it was 8:30. Eventually we were let in. The young lad at the door with the booking sheet was friendly however the bouncers were extremely rude and intimidating and seemed to thrive on letting in who they wanted to (mainly parties of young girls). I observed them to be overly aggressive with several males for no apparent reason. The first couple of rounds of drinks came fine and the use of the app was easy and worked well. However as things got busier it was taking over 30mins for our drinks to come to the table. At one point we could see our order sat on the bar for 20 mins before I went over and asked for a fresh lot. We also watched the waiter knock one of the drinks over and just top it up with tonic. I understand that it must be hard to keep on top of orders, especially during these difficult times however it has put us off returning which is a shame as I have always liked Bedford street.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaWe had a similar experience to many other reviews - we turned up 10 minutes late for our booking and were very rudely told by the door staff that he’d “already sold your table mate”. Fair enough I guess we shouldn’t have been 10 minutes late but his attitude really wasn’t welcoming and he was very rude to us. I won’t be in a hurry to return. A little bit of customer service training (or even just a quick lesson in basic manners and politeness) for the door staff wouldn’t go amiss.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaI unable to comment on the food however I can comment on everything else: - Service: The door staff were unwelcoming, arrogant and rude! After a mix up with our booking (purely accidental - we had selected the wrong time) we were accused of "lieing" and attempting to "blag" our entry despite being professionals (actually a group of female teachers) explaining our error and inquiring about the wait time politely and patiently. One member of the door staff told us there was "no point in us waiting, we are the most popular place in town and no-one is going to leave here.. you lot arent getting in". His colleague however offered us a table that was currently available but had been booked by others who then may wish to share it. We decided to use the table and if those who had booked it arrived we would leave given social distancing protocols. Once seated, we were almost immediately approached by the original (rude) doorman who asked us if we had ordered drinks. Rather than politely explaining to us how the new system worked (as the bar staff did) he told us "you need to hurry up and order drinks or leave". As you can imagine, this left a rather sour atmosphere. A little while later, the same rude doorman approached our table and asked if two ladies (not those who had booked) could join us at our table. I said, No I don't think so (social distancing in mind) and was promptly ignored by that same member of staff who proceeded to bring the two strangers to join our table at a distance clearly less than the required two metres. Atmosphere: It was stiphling hot in the bar and the garden areas are closed at 11 despite remaining open until 2. It was uncomfortably hot and close given the new Covid guidelines. Surely it would be safer and more comfortable to extend the garden license during these times it the bar is to remain open? Especially if the door staff are encouraging customers to share tables with strangers! Drinks: the drinks were extraordinarily over priced - 4 gin and tonics cost over £43.00. You may be willing to swallow this for a lively atmosphere and a great service however this is certainly something that you shouldn't expect if you go to Bedford Street.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaGreeted by a miserable looking guy who pointed us towards a table outside (which I had booked) Told us we had to move because someone had booked the table even though we also booked a table. Bribed us to move with a free drink, didn’t get a choice just bought out a random shot of what looked like nesquick milkshake in a shot glass. Tasted ok but it was clear they chose the cheapest spirit that no one orders as a prize for their bribe to move table. We all ordered food around the same time but the gap in wait time For each of us was significant. The staff went to take all out food to the wrong table even though the guy said he had sorted it out and changed the ticket. There was 4 of us and they bought out 3 sets of cutlery so my friend asked for an extra one. The guy said yes but didn’t come back so she asked someone else who came back right away. The app is awful for ordering food as there is no description for each item so I had to go on the website menu to check what I was ordering. I ordered fish goujon sandwich and I got some Birdseye fish fingers on standard bread for 7 quid. There was just a lack of enthusiasm and for these things to happen when it was not busy at all is ridiculous. I won’t book here again. Sorry.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaSeriously got something wrong here. When a place hires overtly aggressive door staff that can tell the actual pub staff who can come in, there’s a problem. On the hottest day of the year, the overly verbose security guard says ‘you can’t let him in with shorts on’ this was after he repeatedly told us we have to book a table, yet failed to listen to the fact we had and I’d emailed to free it up as my girlfriend had her hospital shift extended by three hours! I wish I could say this terrible front of house experience is a one off, sadly the security door people always have this appalling attitude. I’m sure they are bored, I’m sure this is a little bit of power for them, and in fairness I’m certain they get some right idiots playing up, but we were just an ordinary 40 something couple, finished work late, hoping for a snack and couple of drinks. It is my last time visiting there, there’s too many great places in Leamington to have to put up with this behaviour. You scores below are artificially high for food and value for money, as we didn’t eat or spend any money, but it wouldn’t be right to score them as a 1, so please ignore the 5/5 as I couldn’t possibly know.
Bedford Street Bar – Leamington SpaI came here with a small group of friends for a birthday but from the moment we arrived we were disappointed. Half of us arrived a bit later (I did mention this in the booking requests which were also not acknowledged whatsoever) and when we did join the back of the queue our friends told us through the window to come round which seemed appropriate as we had booked a table. But at the door we were met with absolute rudeness from the bouncer who wouldn't let us in even though we could see our friends at our table. He was so rude and patronising which started off our night on a disappointing tone. When we finally got in, the drinks were ridiculously overpriced and we waited over 45 mins for them after which we promptly drank then and left so we could go somewhere else that didn't have music so loud you can't even hear yourself think. Overall I used to like Bedford Street but now I don't think me or my friends will be returning ever again.
