My boyfriend took me to Chaophraya for my birthday in August. The restaurant itself was absolutely beautiful, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere was great and it was the best food we have ever eaten. We will definitely be going there again next time we are in Leeds.

The food taste good but have had food poisoning from there twice so will not be returning. Since telling other people have discovered I'm one of many that has suffered the same fate.

Bibis is a lovely restauarant and the staff are great but the food is not a s good as people say. If this place was dull and had not had millions of pounds spent on it, it would never last as a top restaurant in my opinion. Food needs improvement big time.

The food was great. But for some reason the staff felt the need to put on some in house entertainment. One dressed up as a fat santa, the other as a pig with breasts and they danced up and down the bar, play fighting with brooms and hitting each other with a string of sausages - all to the musical stylings of the crazy frog at top volume. (No I'm deadly serious here) They then repeated this four times. It really frightned us and totally ruined the meal! I'm still at a loss as to understand what the hell was going on!!! Please never do this again!

Could be bucking the trend here...Went to Akbars in Bradford twice, the first time we left straight away after being told it would be 40 minutes for a table and the bar was full of people who were a bit too worse for wear. Second time we went on a quiet midweek and got straight in. Food was average and the impression was that it came a lowly second to decor, lighting and gimicks. Last year I went to the one on Greek Street. Again, had to wait in a crowded bar (complete with floor sticky with spilled beer) but when we got a table it was far quieter and the food was better than the time before. Went to Eastgate just before Christmas. Had calamari starter (daft choice I know) and got 3 unspiced rings of frozen calmari with a very small soaking wet salad (water ran off the plate). The keema main was better but fairly bland. The gimmicky naan bread was actually nice. If you want to pay over the odds for very average food served amidst trendy/funky/kitsch decor then this is the place to go. The emperor's new clothes of restaurants?

Went to the CR in the Light after the theatre a couple of nights ago. We really enjoyed it. It was late on a Sunday night and quiet. Service was fine. Really good wine available by the glass, an excellent steak frites, excellent tarte tatin, good coffee and good quality ice creams for the kids. Ok, its a chain of ersatz French cafés but, at least on this occasion it felt and tasted pretty authentic. Except for the gren beans I ordered, which were good but I'd expected them to have been finished in a little garlic and buter in the true gallic manner. Will certainly go back.

Took the family here for lunch today, and it was ok. The manager was on hand and was extremely friendly and helpful. The decor was good and the place clean. The food itself was more mixed. We had tortillas, gambas and piri piri as starters to share for £12 and all were ok, with the gambas being the pick of the lot. For mains we had chicken enchilladas that seemed a bit dry/stale, ximxin which was ok but nowhere near as flavoursome as it's billing and a chilli con carne which was very good. It served a purpose for us today and wasn't bad but its not somewhere we'll be rushing back to.

I was looking forward to eating here after hearing positive reviews. Due to circumstances I had to cancel our reservation for two people. My second attempt to call I got through to Phil, who I believe is the owner. I mentioned I had already tried calling as I wanted to give as much notice that we would not be attending. Phil said he had answered the phone since 8am that day and that I can't have tried calling. We then said good bye and Phil thought I had hung up and went on to say 'My name - I answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week you F**king Sl*g.' Upset and disgusted I called back and Phil completely denied what he said, and informed me he was 'talking to his mates in his car about last night.' And a Happy Christmas to you to Phil.

Had a 21st here for our daughter as a party of 8. Food was the best Chinese we have had with all dishes being excellent and plentiful. The Duck for starters was brilliant. We had some reservations when reading other reviews about the service, but we could not have asked for better. Friendly and helpful at all times. A fantastic evening out making this a special occasion. Well recommended and we will definitely be back.

we have eaten in the new Bibi's a few times now, and think it is a 'cut above the rest' when it comes to restaurants in Leeds. The decor is amazing, very Vegas-y & showtime and what more could you want on the weekend that you savour so much, is to sip champagne or cocktails in a packed bar with friends! food is excellent every time, never just a one-off (unlike certain city square venues) and the staff are always attentive. we love it, and can certainly see what all the fuss is about!

I am shocked to see such high reviews for this place that dares to call itself a restaurant! I have just spent a most unpleasant lunchtime in there - anywhere else on a monday lunchtime in town you would expect to be served with a smile, in a timely manner and treated with some degres of respect as after all you are the paying customer. Problems started when there was one person taking food orders and running the bar. The queue was five long and needless to say the service was slow. Once we had eventually placed our food order along with two carbonated drinks by the time we got back to our table we were told there was no bread as they were waiting on a delivery so had to pick something else. We opted for the fish finger sandwiches for which we were told they had bread rolls so could serve them. We had a sip of our drink to find the in both the lemonade and coke the syrup had run out so we called the one waitress over to ask if we could have replacements only to be told we had to join the back of the queue for the bar if we wanted new drinks which was now 10 long and showed no signs of moving. Our food came and to say i was disappointed is an understatement. The quality of the fish fingers were that of Lidl (hnestly Icelands are better) and hardly cooked (fried hard but practically raw inside) and the apparent seasame bun resembled a squashed warbertons roll that you can get for 6 for a £1. The chips were also deep fried to within an inch of their lives as well. They had the cheek to charge £5.95 for this apparent culinary delight. I was all for complaining and demanding an explanation but finding an appropriate person to complain to was hard enough and as my lunch hour was almost up after all the queuing that was required i walked out thoroughly disappointed and very angry. I say to anyone who is even marginally tempted to have a "light bite" in this "restaurant" to think again and go spend your hard earned money elsewhere! Absolutely shocking and if Gordon Ramsey had a grave he would most certainly be turning in it!

Visited with high expectations after all the press but the restaurant didn't live up to the hype unfortunately. The music was so low that I could only hear the nearby waiting staff talking socially. My fish was cooked well but was disappointed with the garnish. The best thing about it was the decor although it still looked remarkably like the old Leodis. Sorry, i didnt like the paper table cloths either!!!
