Could be bucking the trend here...Went to Akbars in Bradford twice, the first time we left straight away after being told it would be 40 minutes for a table and the bar was full of people who were a bit too worse for wear. Second time we went on a quiet midweek and got straight in. Food was average and the impression was that it came a lowly second to decor, lighting and gimicks. Last year I went to the one on Greek Street. Again, had to wait in a crowded bar (complete with floor sticky with spilled beer) but when we got a table it was far quieter and the food was better than the time before. Went to Eastgate just before Christmas. Had calamari starter (daft choice I know) and got 3 unspiced rings of frozen calmari with a very small soaking wet salad (water ran off the plate). The keema main was better but fairly bland. The gimmicky naan bread was actually nice. If you want to pay over the odds for very average food served amidst trendy/funky/kitsch decor then this is the place to go. The emperor's new clothes of restaurants?
