The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterRE: Debbie’s Do Charity BallI am organising a charity ball in October in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice and the Payback Foundation and I write to you on behalf of these charities. I have held this event three times in the past in memory of my mother Debbie who passed away 8 years ago, after suffering for four years with cancer. The support from St Gemma’s Hospice really helped my family and I before, during and after her passing so we began raising money so others could benefit from their services too. The Payback Foundation support Children who have physical, emotional or learning difficulties. They provide grants for specialist items including car seats, sensory equipment, and wheelchairs. Both charities make a huge difference to the lives of people who are suffering, as well as their families. The ball has previously received local press coverage (links to articles below) and was attended by 250 people, some of which were corporate guests. This year we have a much larger venue and we hope to double the amount of attendees. Historically the raffle and auction have proven to be the most successful way to raise money at this event, so I am contacting you to ask if your company can donate a gift or prize in any way.Since both organisations rely heavily on the generosity of the public, and companies like yours all donations will be greatly appreciated. I understand you may get a lot of Charity requests, so thank you in advance for your time.Kindest RegardsEmily Mills Mills.emily1989@hotmail.co.uk07568 551 897 http://eastleedsmag.net/003/d-mills.htmlhttp://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/latest-news/top-stories/brave-mum-s-gift-of-hope-1-2101647
The Howden Arms – Tadcaster£70 for a two course meal for 3 is double the price of good pub food. Bad points: Veg were raw, sent back and they returned after 3 mins in microwave, dishes were conceived and cooked in blissful ignorance, for example Sole rolled with (too much) smoked Salmon destroyed it and Brandy snap was actually Amaretti biscuit. Food was all bland with almost no exceptions at all. This restaurant is full of "atmosphere" however, or noise as I prefer to call it, couldn't have a conversation properly. Very, very disappointing after reading many good reviews.
Singers Restaurant – TadcasterHad a very disappointing below average overpriced sunday lunch. Dinner was swimming in gravy, cauliflower was raw not 'al dente' as the chef said, others had also left theirs. staff unfriendly. Not a good experience will not be back!
The Crooked Billet – Tadcasterafter being told about the crooked billet by my daughter my wife and i were on our way back from a day out in york and thought we would end the day with a nice meal .so we set of from york to find the crooked billet when at last we found it we met who we think was probably the chef in the car park who told us that they stop service at six o clock . WHY?we were left very disappointed and hungry...

Singers Restaurant – TadcasterWas looking for somewhere to eat this evening when driving home from Leeds and happened upon the Crooked Billet. I was really happy we found it! My mam had a lovely lamb shoulder that fell apart and my duck dish was beautiful. Grassington breast that was perfectly cooked, a confit duck leg I could live on and fresh duck liver pate, with veg and a tasty gravy. Fantastic meal, great staff and comfortable atmosphere.Too expensive (but very reasonable for the quality) for a couple of times a week - unfortunately - but I'll definitely be going back soon.

The Crooked Billet – TadcasterWe took some visitors (2 Danes and 1 Icelander) last night in order for them to experience a British pub, they were very impressed with the food, the surroundings and atmosphere. Well done Ryther Arms for proving that British food is fresh, well prepared and served. The only problem is they now think that all pubs are like this!
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterI would not recommend this restaurant as the manger/owner is extremely rude. He started shouting at my wife as she had a discount card for his restaurant. We contacted the card issuers who said this wasn't the only complaint about the owner and they removed them from their website. The card issuer was Tastecard, so if you have used it in the past it won't be accepted here anymore.
Sonali Restaurant – TadcasterWe called in to Sonali restaurant tonight to book a table for three people whilst across the road having a drink. I wanted to check that they were taking the taste card because it does say to mention this when booking. I was told that they 'didn't like' the taste card but I could use it tonight on this one occasion. I said that they shouldn't be falsely advertising if they weren't prepared to honour our taste card. The restaurant was completely empty when I called in, not one other person eating. We booked for 7.15pm and were the first people there. The meal was okay, lamb very chewy but made no complaints and asked for the bill after we had finished eating. After looking at the bill, only £12.35 had been deducted not 50%, in fact we should have had £20 off the bill. When I questioned this, I was met with hostility and told "I knew I shouldn't have let you in tonight". I said again that they should not be advertising 50% off the total food bill if they weren't prepared to honour it. I was told that it was down to the managers discretion what he took off the bill, again I said you are misleading people by advertising 50% off then. He was angry, raising his voice whilst I stayed calm and just asked him to take 50% off the food bill. He angrily changed the bill and I gave him my debit card, he said he only took cash, I didn't have any, he wasn't happy about taking the debit card and told me he didn't want to see us in the restaurant again. This was all because I wanted what they were advertising and he had obviously gone off the idea of it...........quite happy to get the restaurant advertised though. Sonali is still advertising on this website, I want everyone to be aware that they may also be met with the same hostility, from not a very nice manager at Sonali. Go somewhere else, Aagrah a few miles away is a lovely Indian restaurant, they don't take the taste card but nice people and better value for money.
Sonali Restaurant – Tadcasterwow, what a find, steaks to die for, will be returning time and time again, if the waist line allows
The Rythre Arms Steakhouse – TadcasterVisited this pub 14 August and we were not disappointed, infact quite the opposite, we were pleased with our new find. Location was gorgeous, staff could not have been more pleasant and the food was excellent. Not a massive range but ample choice and all was cooked perfectly and very well presented. The pub offered comfortable surroundings and the menu offered fresh and tasty options for everyone. Good choice of wine and real ales to accompany the meal. Worth visiting again and again.
