Bar Vinyl – Camden TownI came across this venue last week. Brilliant food! I had the Wild mushroom risotto and my friend had the Seabass... both were delicious! Next time your in Camden, make sure you go there!
Solo – Camden TownWant a cocktail bar/restaurant in Camden? Go to Inverness Street! Friendly staff, great food and a cosy, laid back atmosphere. If you aren't going there for food, the definitely try the 'Mango Tree' cocktail...amazing!
Zensai – Camden TownThis restaurant? A massive NO! NO! NO! I came in with a friend to try it out and noticed we were the only people and so I asked ' Hello! Are you guys open?' The lady whom I believe is the owner, simply barked us back 'Why, does it say close at the door?' Woah, we were simply taken aback by her upfront-ness rude behavior. Then we gave her the benefit of the doubt and stayed and sat as she came towards us placing two sticky and dirty menus. With an accompanied massive sigh. As if to say she's doing us a favor. Then we felt it was really unpleasant and she is quite unfriendly. And so we changed our mind. We stood up as my friend said 'Sorry we changed our minds.' She then again barked us back 'You always change your mind!' By the way this is a woman whom we never met and the place we never been once before. And so I replied to her by saying 'Because you're very friendly.' And guess how she replied to me? Simply an agressive 'F*** Y**!' We were shocked and I came back from the opened door saying 'What did you just say?' Again, she simply replied and repeated 'F*** Y**!' I then replied to her 'Who are you to talk to me like that?' She replied by trying to give me the reason why she swore at me by saying: 'Because you always change your mind!' Which obviously is not a good reason at all for swearing at someone you don't know. Then realised I was talking to a mad person. Although, I was really shocked and upset by her rudness. We were laughing of shock and disbelief outside, whilst a family was reading their menu by the window. Surely, the kids heard her saying those profanity words to us. How delightful. Strange it's still running though. If only people would know. By the way, by saying 'barking', I really mean it, as if she was answering someone back in the middle of an argument. P.S. The dialogue here is the exact dialogue exchanged and delivered during the entire situation.
Cafe 209 – South Londonthis is by far the best Camden has to offer, fantastic authentic malay cuisine, great decor and atmosphere and both classic and contemporary cocktails, shaken to perfection.really friendly service too, which is a rarity these days
Zensai – Camden Townfantastic food and great cocktails and great service, later at night a dj starts and the place becomes a bit more funky, its a great place to start and finish the night
Zensai – Camden TownThe restaurant is close to the tube so is easy to find and is fairly priced for London. The food is excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly, I spent a month in Japan and the sushi here is very good for a restaurant outside of Japan. The large seaweed rolls filled with salmon are one of my favourites and very filling. If you like other noodle bars you won't be disappointed by there hot food either and you get to choose the type of noodles you want, which isn't always the case in other restaurants. I love the duck noodles. I've recommended the restaurant to friends and work colleagues and everyone who has been has loved it too.
Me Love Sushi – North LondonMy favourite Caribbean restaurant. The Saltfish fritters are just magnificent and the Goat Curry fantastic. this is a must if you are in this part of town
Cottons EC1 – Citythe staff is so unorganized.. only 1 or two people work and the rest are useless
Ariana – Bayswater and PaddingtonThe sushi at Me Love Sushi is very good, there is a wide variety of types and fillings to choose from, all reasonably priced. You can also choose filling rice and noodle bowls and they also give you the choice of thick or thin noodles. I would recommend the beef noodles and for people feeling hungry the mixed tempura is excellent.
Me Love Sushi – North Londonfantastic restaurant, lovely food and very quirky!!
Buona Sera Jam – Chelsea and West BromptonSmall but cosy restaurant. Ideal for after-shopping binge on some delicious real home-cooked Caribbean food. Decor makes you feel like you're in the Caribbean with it's bamboo and painted palm trees. Excellent service. Ackee and saltfish washed down with delicious rum punch is to die for!
Bamboula Caribbean Restaurant – BrixtonNice location and perfect for a pre-theatre dinner. Got served quite quickly, had delicious Moroccan food and the whole family was happy. Very child friendly and they also do a lot of vegetarian food. We'll go there again!
Maison Touareg – SohoTo start with i would like to compliment Mr Jay Nambiar for a cosy Malabari place in the city. After the first experience of mediocre service but truly authentic food i decided to return back to Shilpa for the latter with some colleagues. We went in and were greeted by a smiling young man who escorted us to our table. We ordered two big bottles of beer and then a presentable elderly gentleman brought drinks to the table. He served one of them and went on the other end of the table with the second and as we had just begun to tell him that the beer was not for him but for somebody else, he just flew off the handle and started screaming that we ordered two beers and we were supposed to open our mouths and speak clearly. Could there have been a more welcoming way to start our lunch!!!! We ordered some food. The mussels were the most elastic things i had ever seen in my life,,,,,,,but i thought it happens and tried to inform the grumpy waiter to which he promptly replied that it was their style of cooking. That was not all ,we had to change our main course thrice because apparently their suppliers did not turn up. By this time we were really scared to complain as the looks we got from the senior waiter were quite frightening. Finally we ordered some payasam , only to hear that it was over and mind you we were the only table in the restaurant. Well i must compliment the services of the young waiter (whenever he had a chance to come to the table) and the food quality. Finally i must say to all you foodies that although the food is good, i would never dare to take anybody there for an outright insult.
Shilpa Restaurant – HammersmithVery Disapointed with this restaurant. The Web site promised great things and delivered nothing. Service was poor and the food was cold. The Menu did not feature anything as described on the website The only redeeming feature was the signiture chocolate pudding which was cooked to order and turned up exactly how it was described.
Bermondsey Kitchen – South LondonWe had a very memorable day/night at the Engineer. Right from the off it was spot on. On ordering that fine beer Erdinger the bar lady cooled our glasses. The restaurant was full but then a table was found for us. The service was quirky and friendly with great advice on food a wine choices, particularly Lydia. I had a seabass with Miso sauce, ginger and mash. I dont believe Ive ever had a better fish dish. We got back on the Erdinger after dinner and enjoyed the buzz of a busy and cool Primrose Hill pub. Seek it out!
The Engineer – Camden TownI enjoyed my dinner out at Feng Sushi. The quality of fish was nice, and the sushi was of a good quality - although slightly unremarkable. The location in Fulham was very small but clean and orderly. The staff was busy, mostly with take-away orders, but polite. It had a feeling of being not traditionally japanese and the staff and chef were unfamiliar with basic sushi. For example they had scallop sushi, so I asked for a scallop handroll. This seemed rather perplexing to them, and I worried when the sushi chef came out to ask if I would like teriyaki sauce on it. I explained how it was usually made (light japanese mayo, roe, and a little spice) you can also have fresh cucumber. The chef made them very well and I appreciated his time and effort. Higher quality than Yo Sushi, less expensive than Nobu, and overall very good, yet I am not rushing to go back. Dinner for two: sushi, tempura, sake: around GBP 70
Feng Sushi – South LondonGreat local Thai place. The picnic style tables make for a casual and fun atmosphere. The best value for a meal out in London. The starters are great, especially the dumplings and the mains delicious. Make sure to check out their daily specials. They also have nice vegetarian meals as well as curries and usual Thai dishes. A meal for two: starters, mains, wine - around GBP 30! Amazing. The wines are nothing offensive, but also not fabulous. This is a no frills place, but with easy location, fast/helpful service, good food, great value and an easy way to have a meal out. Don't be intimidated if the line is long (and even out the door). It generally moves quickly and often you can order a beer while you wait. If you are taking a date or lady there, two things to keep in mind: it can be loud, so this is not an intimate dinner. The other thing is that you sit on long benches. If she is in a skirt (especially a short one) this can prove difficult/revealing/humorous while trying to sit down for the meal.
