Before going I had heard mixed things about the service not being great but I wanted to see for myself. The restaurant has a nice interior. We were given a £4.99 bottle of Prosecco from Aldi and charged £30 for it. We had a 40 minute wait for the food (there was only 4 other tables in) when the food did arrive there was no apology. The food was nice but it didn’t blow me away and I’ve had much nicer tapas in Macclesfield and Bollington. I emailed the restaurant to let them know how disappointed I was and I’ve heard nothing back. I will not be going back and I would not recommend.

We had heard great things about this restaurant but it exceeded our expectations. Friendly & attentive service, lovely ambiance, stylish but relaxed and excellent food. The quality of all food served was fabulous. It is also nice to find fine dining with good portions. A real treat evening, we will be back. Thank you

Lovely evening spent with my partner. Booked an evening table for 7pm. Had a nice cosy corner in the restaurant area. Table service was pretty quick and all the staff were very friendly. The food choices available were plentiful and portion sizes were more than adequate to share between 2 people. Have to say the food was lovely......we didn't leave a thing which is usually a good sign. The only criticism about the evening was the menu itself. It was the green lettering on a black background. With the low lighting it made it difficult to see and we had to use our phones to illuminate them. Apart from that we haven't got a bad thing to say about Lilac at The Chestergate. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and we will certainly be back sometime soon.

Food is very good but unfortunately there were not enough staff on duty and they were clearly very stressed and chaotic. Not their fault and they did their best. Would be better to hold guests downstairs in the bar and take them up to the restaurant when the table is ready and stagger the bookings more.

I thought a few year ago the food wasn’t as good so I stopped going. However I have been twice in the last month with family and friends and everyone has loved it. The food has improved a lot, though sometimes they don’t have certain items . It’s definitely improved and I will be going more often now. thanks

Honestly some of the best tapas we’ve ever had, we love going out for food 3/4x a week and this was amazing the staff were super friendly, informative and a laugh. The atmosphere was great the drinks great! (Even if they didn’t get to have the blueberry daiquiri) food great! everything! We cannot complain and would not about a single thing we are coming back every week!!

Have visited on many occasions and always amazing. Took my parents for my mother’s 60th and it’s the first time they’ve been and they were thrilled with the whole experience and food. Food is fantastic, service is second to none and fantastically priced. Cannot speak highly enough of Bacchus and the team

Consistently excellent

Visited The Cock Inn for lunch, their staff greeted us on arrival and showed us to our table. Excellent menu options and a specials board too. There were 5 in our party and we all chose different meals. Each dish arrived at the same time and was both delicious and hot. Five clean plates went back in to the kitchen. Couldn’t fault the service and food plus reasonably priced too.

We visit Prestbury quite often and usually eat in Coast, decided to try Lilac Cottage for a change, have eaten there once or twice over the years and always had a nice experience. Quite disappointed in the service this time, a dark haired waitress approached us upon our arrival asking my husband if his name was Bill ?? Even though he had already given his name to her (as our booking name)… (not Bill) spoke only to my husband only and completely ignored myself. A more professional and polite waitress then arrived at our table and efficiently took our food and drinks order, the original waitress returned to our table with our drinks again asking my husband’s name, this time she asked if he was called Andy….. Again completely ignored myself. Totally inappropriate service from said waitress. Staff on the whole were ok as was the food, price was ok but have eaten better for less money. Will not be going back any time soon. Think some staff need up skilling in the customer service department. Quite a random experience from a random waitress….
