We've eaten here regularly, since it opened. The standard is as good as ever, and although we travel a lot around the UK we rarely find anywhere to equal the Salt Bar .

Great food. Lovely secret garden. Reasonable prices. What more can you ask for? Definitely going back again.

Lovely food and amazing service from all the staff- very friendly and helpful.

First of all… food was brilliant- no issues at all (apart from the belly pork not being available) but unfortunately the service wasn’t great. We ordered one drink each the whole night, no one came to the table - I tried to get the servers attention but with no luck, that being said, I fully appreciate you were busy. We had to ask for a desert menu but by the time the servers came back to the table we had to go so just asked for the bill. That being said, we acknowledge that by the sounds of it, this isn’t the norm.

We had a lovely evening, food and service were fantastic. The candle lit tables made it feel very authentic. Will definitely be back.

We visited for my Wife's Birthday meal, whilst staying at Shrigley Hall. We loved the garden, atmosphere and service. Credit to the team for a brilliant experience. Food was outstanding and we will return when in the area.

Excellent food once again. Extremely pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy a meal. Wonderful personable service, a nod to Josh our young waiter who was particularly affable. A great evening.

Had a delicious meal at the Salt bar last night. We had the £18 2 course. The tomato on sourdough was really tasty. I followed it with the meatballs which are always very good. Finally I was tempted by the apple and cinnamon dessert and wasn't disappointed. A lovely,relaxed evening with good service. I was looking for a tasty, inexpensive meal out in an informal but comfortable atmosphere and that was what we got.

The best food, staff and atmosphere!

After visiting Lilac Cottage on several occasions over the years and loving the food and everything about the place, we were extremely disappointed with the food and drink last night.... after waiting to be seated it took nearly 50 minutes and 5 reminders from the point of ordering our drinks to receiving them. After also being told that nearly every soft drink on the menu was unavailable along with elements needed for cocktails as well. Working in the hospitality trade myself I can only imagine the supplies order had been omissed this week. May I also point out that although the front of house staff were extremely apologetic and helpful, they explained profusely that they were overwhelmed with the amount of diners and lack of management available on what is normally one of the busiest nights in the hospitality trade. Which then caused issues in their delivery of food items resulting in our chicken a la crema tasting more like fish than chicken (a massive no no in relation to seafood allergies and how dangerous they can be) our creamy mussels and ribs being sent to the wrong table who then sent them back to the kitchen, when it was discovered that was our food it was then duly delivered to our table but the ribs were cold in the middle and the mussels quite obviously had been reheated. We were quite rightly not charged for the initial round of drinks or the cold ribs which we appreciated, and the offer of a free bottle of prosecco was also appreciated greatly. We also would like to commend the young members of staff having to deal with so many problems from all aspects last night, the lack of drinks stock, the kitchen mix ups and the absolutely overwhelming number of clientèle that no young members of staff should be left to deal with without any management seeming to be present to help. We would like to reiterate that we have had so many good experiences at Lilac Cottage before and that would be the only reason why we would like to return at a time when these issues have been resolved by management. Had this have been our first visit to yourselves we probably wouldn't have been returning ever again after last night's fiasco! Needless to say we commend the waiters and waitresses trying their best and hope this was just a one off due to management being away on holiday.

Booked online for a table for 4 at 8 o'clock in the restaurant. Arrived just before eight to be seated in the garden room (marque outside) There were heaters but not pointing our way. I asked why seated here as booked restaurant to be told the online booking doesn't define where you sit (Mmmmmm, I doubt that is the case as the booking system asked which part of the restaurant you want to be seated, restaurant, garden room etc???) Food was tasty though and I know its tapas but the dishes did take some time to all come out. Some finished before all served.

Came here a few days ago for tapas with friends. Super nice atmosphere, friendly service, and amazing food. There was a live music performance as well, which was a nice addition (although it was a bit loud because we were sitting close)!
