Anne (alex's Mum)

Lovely food, lovely service - nothing is too much trouble for the staff there. My Mum, my sister and myself go regularly and it is always an enjoyable experience. My Mum doesn't like Chinese food, so she always has fish and chips which she really enjoys. Not only that, but they have a business man's lunch menu, which is three courses for under £6.00 - don't know how they do it, and they serve it until 5 or 6 pm. Thanks, guys for always making us feel so welcome...

Good quality local restaurant with very friendly staff. I've eaten twice there in the last two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The prices are extremely reasonable, and personally I enjoyed it more than the meal I had at the more upmarket Indian restaurant nearby.

The new menus glitz and pomp set the food up for a fall, didn't deliver what it promised but the waitress more than made up for the disappointment and her Irish charm convinced us to give it another go this week and we were thrilled that things were much better. Would highly recommend the hot pot!!

I recently visited the New York cafe bar, i ordered the salmon bagel when it arrived it was so hard i couldn’t even cut it in half and was scared of breaking a tooth on it i sent it back but after the time we waited for that didn’t bother to order anything else, my father ordered a steak baguette the meat was so burned he never even touched it, the managers attitude to my complaint was terrible in the middle of our discussion he answered the phone and turned his back on me, wouldn’t recommend you to take your worst enemy there maybe that’s why we were the only people in there.

I was introduced to Lefteris' Taverna during a recent visit to Liverpool to catch up with old friends. I must say this was one of the highlights of the weekend! I am no expert, but I know a thing or two when it comes to Greek Cuisine. (During my student days I traveled and spent a fair amount of time in Greece.) The restaurant interior is excellent, very inviting and comfortable. I found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful and the service was spot on. The food (The most important part!) brought back memories of eating out in Athens. I enjoyed some tasty calimari for starters, followed by a very generous portion of mousaka, accompanied with fries and rice. This was then washed down with an ice cold Mythos, a crisp, refreshing greek lager. The menu has a top selection of dishes which includes plenty of choices for Vegetarians. I am back in Liverpool over the Summer and look forward to returning to the Taverna once again. Totally recommended! 10/10. Ryan, Norwich UK

I visited this restaurant last week and although the food was ok it was fiercely expensive. although we were in a group and paid in excess of £600 for a meal they refused to give our deposit cheque back as 6 people hadn't turned up ( although they did give that table away anyway) then complained as the tip we gave wasn't enough apparently IN future ill stick to woolton.......much much better

Used to be a big fan of this great little restaurant, but it seems to have lost its way a little. Not sure whats happening here, I hope they regain their drive that they used to have but when I dined there last week I found the food quite bland and a strangely dull atmosphere. Give it a try because hopefully, it will return to it's former glory, but for the time being I'm afraid I won't be in a rush to return. Sorry.

I was looking forward to dining at Lefteris, however although the restaurant was not busy the service was poor... We were left for too long to look at the menu and had to ask for a drink only to be told by the waitress that she was 'busy'! When our food finally arrived it was tasty albeit expensive, unfortunately when my friend got home that evening he was sick! Was it the food??

I have dined here three times within the last year or so. The staff are fairly pleasant and the place is modern and with a quiet clientele. We had two courses each and a bottle of house wine which came to £70 - it seems Greek food doesn't come cheap on Allerton Road. The side portions could be bigger.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday last Tuesday and dined at the Lefteris. We have been away for a while but think the new decor is great and the food as usual superb. The waitress looked after us very well and the price we paid at the end of the evening was very reasonable. I would recommend the Lefteris to anyone. Thanks for a lovely evening. Fantastic restaurant, easily better than that over-trumped one next door. Freshly cooked food, excellent papadoms and chutneys every time, cheap wine by the glass and free water, friendly staff, and a civilised, down to earth atmosphere. Beware of large starters which fill you up! Pub over the road is okay for a quiet pint after too. Parking usually okay right outside or on the side street.

I found the staff here very rude and abrupt. The service is appalling and far too slow. Although the restaurant itself inside, is not so bad, the food we ordered arrived late and cold. I would not recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a good Greek place with good food. We did not enjoy our meal and certainly would never eat there again.

What a great little restaurant. Food is just fantastic and we only found it by chance, its tucked away on Aigburth Road close to the cricket club. Great atmosphere, close to all amenities, very relaxed and food was best we have tasted, will be returning and telling our friends about it. Highly recommended.

Oh what can I say? The flavours in the curry come alive. This has to be one of my all time favourite Indian restaurants! The staff are friendly, you never have to wait long. I can't wait to return to try another dish. (I am working my way through the menu).

Myself and a friend decided to try out the Early Bird Menu (2 courses for £7.95) at the new revamped New York Cafe Bar last night. Although our voucher said 7.30pm, when we arrived the waitress told us the menus said 7.00pm. She checked with the Manager and we were ok to choose from the Early Bird Menu. For starters I chose the Chicken & Noodle Soup, my pal chose the Duck and Pancakes. When the food came I was surprised at the size of the portions, as they were pretty big for the price. Food tasted delicious and you weren't being rushed, so we had plenty of time to savour our meals. For our mains, I chose Southern fried chicken strips, which came with potato wedges, rocket with a lovely sweet dressing on and proper coleslaw. My mate chose Spaghetti and meatballs, which would have fed the 2 of us! - again, food was freshly prepared and very tasty. An added bonus was that we were sitting in one of the newly fitted booths, which are fitted with their own TV's - the Belarus v England game was on, so it was great sitting in comfort, watching the footy! The waitress who served us was very good at her job, checking that our food was ok and not rushing us out. If you are a smoker there is good undercover area out front. The toilets were clean, although they had run out of handtowels! I will certainly be visiting again and would highly recommend a visit!

Hurray....a bar with warm friendly staff and customers. Stylish and comfortable, definitely has the edge. Love the food, upstairs is very boutique feeling. And the music is excellent. Thank you a venue to feel 100% easy, and great value too.

We visited the newly refurbished New York Cafe Bar and bought drinks and went upstairs to the new dining area after looking at wine menu whilst sat in the waiting area which was empty as was most of the restaurant (only 6 persons dining on two separate tables). We were approached by a person who we perceived to be a manager. Before we could ask to peruse the main menu, he asked in a demanding way whether we were dining. We informed him that we were not at this time. He said: “You are not allowed to bring drinks upstairs!” He then demanded that we go downstairs with our drinks. I asked him whether there were any signs stating that we should not be up in this area. He said: “We don't need a sign!” We were allowed upstairs by passing a door person who seemed quite happy to let us upstairs with our drinks. The manager then demanded that we go downstairs and take our drinks with us. We finished our drinks and left the premises. Not a good reception and we will not be dining here at all. We are aggrieved that we were treated so discourteously and rudely. We did note that one of the couples dining had to request the waitress at least twice to correct her order when delivered to the table. The manager in the meantime pulled up a chair at the other table with 4 people on it and joined their company.
