The Last Inn – NewportDelicious food, staff very attentive. We will be there again.
The Last Inn – NewportWent for Sunday lunch last weekend with Mum. Food great & a smaller portion a available for Mum who has a smaller appetite (at 92). Refurbished interior is very pleasant. Puddings good too. In leaving we discovered that the ladies was up some circular stairs that would have been unsafe for Mum to access so asked where the accessible toilet was. Was told that there was a Disabled toilet in the gents which Mum could use. On the way out we went to this toilet as Mum needed the convenience. It turned out to be a toilet with a door that we had to walk past the urinals to get to. Not Disabled compliant. Not acceptable. I emailed the pub the following day to ask if it was going to be dond as the rest of the pub refurbished via the contact form on website but no reply forthcoming. Now reported to Telford & Wrekin.
The Last Inn – NewportWe had afternoon tea at The Last Inn recently and we cannot fault the service or the food. The food was fresh, tasty and well presented and we were looked after well with great service. We would visit again!
The Last Inn – NewportGreat food but slow service when there was no one else in there.
The Last Inn – NewportWe had booked an afternoon tea at the Bull at Roddington but we were notified that they had ceased trading so offered us an alternative at The Aston instead. I’m so glad that we went as it was a beautiful afternoon tea with Prosecco & ale & was excellent value for money at £23.95. The savouries were a nice added bonus. Cakes & scones were so light & fresh. Service was very welcoming by Will. Just a shame it was so quiet in the restaurant for a bank holiday weekend but we can highly recommend.
The Last Inn – NewportLike Anne Corfield, we were offered afternoon tea at The Last Inn after The Bull at Rodington closed, thanks to the help and consideration shown by the Area Manager. I am pleased to say that, unlike Anne Corfield, the food we enjoyed was very good quality. It appeared that The Last Inn had been asked to step in at the last minute for a few bookings and was trying to manage the extra demand. I am pleased to say that the sandwiches were fresh and tasty, filled with pork and apple, cheese and onion and ham. There was no problem with the fillings and there was a choice of brown and white breads. Two people next to us received salmon sandwiches, so they were clearly varying the fillings. The sausage rolls, pork pies and small scotch eggs were all presented in bite sizes. The garnish of salad added to the presentation. The scones were large, warm and precut, with a large helping of jam and cream. The cakes consisted of caramel torte slices and large chocolate brownies, surrounded with raspberries and halved strawberries. Our choice was to have the food with pots of tea, in which there were up to 3 cups. The staff were helpful and friendly.
The Last Inn – NewportI had booked afternoon tea as a deal from Groupon to be taken at The Bull at Roddington. Unfortunately The Bull ceased trading on the previous Thursday so we were offered a place at The Last inn at Newport, which we accepted. The service was reasonable and one member of staff agreed to me having a latte instead of tea. The food came quickly but was a disappointment. For 1 person we got a half round of Sandwiches cut into 3 fingers which were soggy and limp, especially the tuna ones, way too much mustard on the ham ones and what looked like a Greggs sausage roll cut in half. The pastries were so small they were barely a mouthful , and were no more than an inch cube, 1 each , a minute chocolate eclair and a small chocolate cake between us and a scone with jam and cream. !!!!!! The original cost was £29.90 for 2 people so I expected to get £29.90’s worth of food as it was a half price deal, we barely had £8 worth of food. I would not recommend booking for afternoon tea , I cannot comment on the other menus.
The Last Inn – NewportGreat Sunday lunch as per usual, great friendly service and good value
The Last Inn – NewportI went last night with 23 gymnasts after a long day of competing and Georgina and her team were amazing! The food was amazing and came out promptly so we were not too hungry, on top of that they were able to deal with all the extra drink and desert requests with no issue! We had an amazing time and will be going back!!
