The Last Inn – NewportGreat food. Good atmosphere and good service.
The Last Inn – NewportWe were holidaying in the area, chose The Last Inn for our last 'holiday' meal and what a good choice it was! Loved the decor, the food was delicious and the menu provided enough choice to cater for our table of five. The Last Inn was welcoming and friendly and if we're in the area again, we will definitely be back!
The Last Inn – NewportI booked lunch at The Last Inn for a group of thirteen after walking in the Lilleshall area recently. The original 2pm lunchtime had to be changed not once but twice over the telephone as unforseen events disrupted the walk schedule. Nevertheless Zofia was very accommodating and we all sat down together to enjoy a lovely lunch even though it was later than planned. There was a good selection to choose from the Lunch / Main Menus and the food served was very good and vfm. If we visit the area again I would definitely return.
The Last Inn – NewportGood selection on the menu. Service excellent. Price fair for the quality. All dishes chosen were good, but needed a little more sauce on the pasta.
The Last Inn – NewportWent for Sunday lunch and had roast beef which was excellent. We did have a starter of chorizo bits which I wasn’t too keen on. They should have been crispy in my opinion. Other than that it was a good Sunday lunch
The Last Inn – NewportWe tried this place for the first time yesterday and we're really looking forward to it as Google reviews looked promising! We both had a pork roast dinner. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as other places we've been. The veg was hard, I think we both had only one or two florets of cauliflower cheese and the pork was sparse! On the menu, it said the pork came with crackling, sausage, stuffing. So we both presumed there would be a sausage on the plate as well (as there was a comma between the items listed). I asked and they said it was in the stuffing but the menu read as if it was an individual item. This should maybe be changed. Also, my partner has to ask for the crackling. To top it off (I know this was just unfortunate) but there was a dead daddy long legs inside my yorkshire pud!!! Which you had to pay £2.50 extra for!! It was replaced but still. Really sad to say but we won't be returning. We'd normally stay somewhere for a pudding but we just didn't feel the main was good enough to warrant spending extra money on dessert too!
The Last Inn – NewportI’m a tough critic, but I love that I stumbled across this place! Been here a couple of times now but I need to leave a review because the last time we came we weren’t exactly the easiest of guests… let me explain. My grandparents can’t eat a lot due to health reasons and I know sometimes restaurants / pubs are funny about adults ordering off the kids menu. The Last Inn and their staff accommodated our party so well and made my grandparents feel normal. My Nan actually suffers with high anxiety and struggles to get out the house, but the team gave us a quiet table in one of the booths away from a large party which was kind. We also had the dog with us and they’re so good with dogs here and yet the restaurant is kept so clean and has lovely decor. It’s not for everyone, but we asked if it was okay if my little Cockapoo sat in the booth next to us (on her blanket) and the lady serving us said of course. To top off the whole experience, the food was exceptional. Best we’ve had for a long long time. Thank you, we will definitely be back (if you’ll have us!) x
The Last Inn – NewportSunday lunch, too many rosemary bits, lacking vegetables, only 1 piece of carot parsnip and broccoli, the cauli cheese was the Size of a 10p piece. Not as wholesome as it was in the past.
The Last Inn – Newportgood food and service
The Last Inn – NewportSo sad i love this place normally but wow bad staff today !!!
The Last Inn – NewportFood was absolutely lovely and will definitely return. Just two issues we had was a few items on the menu were not available. The service was very slow which is no reflect on the waitress as she was lovely and helpful but it was severely understaffed. She was the only member of staff we saw so can only presume she was there on her own. We visited a Thursday lunchtime so it wasn’t very busy at all but more staff are definitely needed.
The Last Inn – NewportWe booked to celebrate a wedding anniversary and previously co texted the last inn to inform then of two vegan and one also gluten free - however there was only one meal on the menu that was both vegan and gluten free ! We arrived to what was apparently clear - shirt staff and stressed staff who didn’t have the time to greet customers when they arrived other than to say quite abruptly “ be with you in minute” it was 8 minutes before we got to place the drink order at the bar . Then showed to our table but drinks didn’t arrive due 10 minutes - each drink firmly ‘banged down on the table ‘ we ordered food and made it very clear that the vegan gluten free dish must be exactly that and waitress assured us it would be . Three meals arrived after 35 minutes but not the vegan gluten free one ! We asked after 5 minutes where it was because we couldn’t wait any longer as food getting cold. We were told the chef didn’t do gluten free pasta in original dish so was making g it again - when it arrived ( after asking ) we had all eaten out meals ! It arrived and the pasta was not cooked ! It was sent back and 20 minutes later we received the meal which was as ordered and cooked - however she then ate alone as we we were all finished ages ago - so awkward especially as it was a wedding anniversary and the couple didn’t even eat together - so embarrassing as they were our guests and we recomended the Last Inn ! The waitress came past the table and said “taken the pasta off the bill “ well that was the very least they could do after three attempts to serve a meal . Extremely disappointed- staff were stressed and had attitude which was not the atmosphere or customer service we hoped for . The singer that was on that night was very good but very loud which made it very difficult to talk or be heard Sadly left feeling very sad that our guests experienced that service on their anniversary
The Last Inn – NewportFab food!! Beautiful decor and lovely ambience
The Last Inn – NewportThis was our first visit. We thought we'd give it a try for one of our regular nights out. We had prebooked a table but on arrival had to wait for it to be ready. Not too long so not really an issue but given we were expected & there were empty tables would have expected it to have been ready. The service overall was quite poor. The server started to reel off the menu options before we had sat down so most of us missed what was said. Our drinks arrived quickly enough & when we ordered we were told a large order had been placed so we'd have to wait a little while for our food. Happy with that. The rest of the service though was poor. We had to wait ages for our empty plates to be cleared. We gave up waiting for the dessert menus & fetched them ourselves. We then had to chase them to take our dessert order. The server was unable to describe what the desserts were like when asked. Then we had to chas3 again for the bill. The food was excellent & we all enjoyed what we had. There weren't enough staff for the number of customers & this sadly impacted on what was a good night. Unless the service improves we are unlikely to return which is a great shame as the food really was good.
The Last Inn – NewportOverall our meals were good. The kebabs were tasty and another in our party ordered fish and chips and the fish was huge. The chips looked hand cut but they were a bit hard. A pint of shandy costs the same as a pint of lager. It was quiet but it was a Wednesday evening. I will try it again in the future
The Last Inn – NewportThe staff were pleasant on our recent visit, however, for a Friday night there was practically no atmosphere and was deathly quiet. As a family of five, not one of us enjoyed it completely. The fried food (fish &onion rings ) couldn’t have been cooked at the right temperature as they were so anaemic and sodden with oil there was no crunch whatsoever ever on the batter and wasn’t really edible. TAKE THE RISOTTO OFF THE MENU what a massive disappointment. The description on the menu is that of a bounty of fresh green veg on what sounded like a flavoursome hearty risotto- which is was the complete opposite, about 5 peas, 3 slices of asparagus stem that were the size of 5 pence pieces, no spinach to my knowledge that I could find and the Risotto was an over cheesed, stodgy, bland porridge. Paying an extra £8 for the fish finger sized piece of Salmon topped it off as the worst meal I’d had. Don’t think we’ll be going back any time soon especially as the bill worked out at about £25 a head, We’ve had 100% better quality dishes in the heart of London for less!!!!
The Last Inn – NewportExtremely disappointed. Out with family and when mail meal came, my husband had ordered fillet steak. It didn’t look like a fillet steak and was tail end that had been butterflied. On speaking to the waitress to say we weren’t happy with the standard of the steak. she took the meal back only to bring it back with information from the chef to say it had been butterflied to enable it it cook quicker! !! My husband asked for another as it did not look good and due to cost £29, he wanted what he ordered and cooked in they was expected. The message from the chef was that would take 20 minutes of which, we felt he said because he wasn’t happy with having it sent back. We payed for our started and drinks and left. Then had an outstanding meal at the Fox. The front of house staff were lovely and the manager appeared to understand why we weren’t happy. We won’t be back!
The Last Inn – Newport2 courses for £24.
