Went Sunday evening. Disappointed that there was only the Sunday Lunch menu available. Wouldn’t have booked if we had known that. Considering they were only serving roasts, it took a long time for the food to arrive. However, once they did arrive, the roast dinners were very nice and generous portions. Couldn’t fault the food. Desserts were also good. The dessert sharing board is a very good idea. Again, the desserts did take a long time to arrive though.

The empty dining room should have been a warning. I ordered the kebab and my partner the pie. Two pieces of pork, burnt chorizo and a rock hard flat bread. The amount I left should have raised the question was everything ok with your meal. My partners meal wasn’t much better with a hard crust on the pie. Staff were friendly but seemed inexperienced. We ordered a dessert of Eton mess, this can only be described as yoghurt in a wine glass, not a berry in sight. This will be my first and last time in the Last Inn.

Been here several times, great place, warm welcome, super service, food is fabulous. Will definitely keep returning.

Mixed review. Booked for Sunday evening but unaware only Sunday lunch (roasts) available. Very cold, I sat with my coat on throughout the visit. Nearly fell off my chair seeing them charge £2.50 for a Yorkshire pudding if chosing the pork or large roast (beef and pork). And portion of cauliflower cheese for three was only sufficiently sized for 2 and contained one stalk as well as three florets. But on a more positive note the roasts were delicious, very tender pork and medium rare beef, well cooked green veg and carrots, nice roasties and delicious stuffing. Very reasonably priced. But unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives so we won't be back on a Sunday evening for now.

We have visited the Last a lot over the past few years but were left disappointed when we went recently. There was a lack of atmosphere and we felt as though we were being forced out after our main course despite wanting a dessert, the food was very mediocre considering the price and overall it has left us not wanting to return anytime soon.

Very disappointed with our Sunday roasts on 19th November. Food took around 45 minutes to be served and when it finally came out it was barely warm. The beef was almost inedible as was that well cooked and there were hardly any veggies, we also did not receive a serving of cauliflower cheese but this was taken into account on the bill. It's a shame as it's a lovely place and we have had many nice meals at the Last Inn but this has put us off coming back any time soon. On a positive note the waiting staff were very polite and apologetic and I heard them getting brunt of many other complaints.

Visited on 19/11. The food was absolutely lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. Two of us had the sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly and one of us had the steak and ale pie which they said was beautiful. One of my favourite places to come for food in Newport.

Sunday lunch for 2 - 19th November 2023. Sharing plate Dessert was superb. For mains, I had roast chicken - it was good: Nice size, veggies lovely especially the cauliflower cheese served in separate dish. However, my husband had roast beef. He's had it many many times in the past and it's always been succulent and tender. This time, it was like cardboard. Over cooked, dry, uniform thin slices. I tried it and it tasted like a processed product you might expect to find on a supermarket deli shelf (reheated). Hard, dry and chewy. Such a disappointment. My husband informed the manager who didn't offer an explanation (eg new supplier) but apologised and said he would speak with chef. We were aware that other diners had issues with the beef. I suspect the Last Inn are no longer using that brilliant meat & pie supplier from near Market Drayton. What a shame. We will go again though to see if the problem has been rectified.

Enjoyed our latest visit , the food was really good , staff were pleasant and helpful . Improved menu is good selection with some favourites still on board .

Lovely menu to choose from , all the food we had was beautiful. Will definitely be back soon !

Visited here yesterday for a Sunday roast and was quite disappointed. No roaring fire lit like previous visits. lots of tables empty and the room at the back was cold. No ambiance like berore. The food was ok but seemed like it had been kept warm for a long time even though we ate for around 2pm. Staff were helpful.

Lovely pub. Great meals. Had a nice time and will be back again soon

visited 11/23 a little wary as previous visit not great. Pleased to say much better. Good service, food tasty and plentiful (although a little more gravy with the pie wouldn’t have gone amiss) Live music added atmosphere but I have to say the conservatory area feels a little cold and unwelcoming. Nothing a change to lighting couldn’t improve though. Will be back.

We have visited The Last Inn previously a number of times but due to relocating out of Shropshire we have not visited for 18 months. We chose to travel back for a family meal due to how good our previous experiences had been. Unfortunately it was not as good as we remembered at all the food quality has significantly reduced my husbands meal was not served complete, my burger was supposed to be served with Monterey cheese, I received two slices of plastic cheese not as expected! My mother in laws veg was unpleasant and she was really disappointed with the “home made” pie that we advised her to have as we had both had it before and it was clearly brought in and not homemade at all! Service was also very poor and extremely slow it took 2.5 hours for us to complete the meal. Guests who came after us were served before we were it was very disorganised. Staff were not around to speak to we were not asked if the food was ok and after being served our mains we asked for more drinks then never saw another staff member. 2 drinks were forgotten because the staff did not know if they had Guiness they went to check and gif not return??. Overall very disappointing compared to our previous visits. We will not be returning and would definitely not recommend.
