Excellent service and great food by the new waiting staff, Manager should be proud of this team. They look like they need few more staff to help out, but everyone has got to remember is everywhere that staff are required, but hard to find decent honest people. Definitely return next year.

We were all looking forward to our fish n chips, unfortunately they were sold out! We had tikka masala. When it finally arrived we sent it back as it was cold. Waited ages for our drinks and 30 mins for ice cream which wasn’t chocolate. Service poor, maybe short staffed. Certainly missing a trick being closed Tuesday and Thursday as this is the only place to eat in the evening at this venue. Would l return? Maybe not!

Poor service, food ok at best, waitress friendly. Wouldn’t go back again.

We really enjoyed our early evening meal here on our first night at Retallak. My husband had scampi and chips and I had a small fish and chips which arrived very quickly and were very good. The waitress and other staff were all really friendly. They had had a lot of no shows recently which is really disappointing for them as they were having to turn people away. We had just drinks the next evening and again, the staff were lovely and efficient.

We were a group of 7 and all enjoyed our meal. Food hot and tasty. Service was very good, helpful, polite staff. Setting was clean and comfortable. Thank you

Booked a table for our first night for group of 7 and booked again for next night as food was excellent. Fish and chips were very good and the special for sirloin steak on 2nd night was delicious. Was very busy but staff were very friendly.

Nothing special, poor short menu, no pizza, slownservice - rowdy drunk idiots - and pretty sure the cod wasn't cod - shame, we thought this might be decent - just disappointed to have to leave site to eat.

We booked a table for the last night of our holiday (tried to book for earlier in holiday but was either booked or closed), and it made for a great end to the holiday. Service was really good and staff attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, good portion sizes and cooked really well. We had the fish / burger / curry - the curry was amazingly tasty.

I would not recommend eating here. We had booked a table but they were clearly understaffed. I don’t mind if you’re told at the start of a meal that they’re short of staff that day but the greed of overbooking and then not closing the takeout service just means everyone receives a degraded service. We thought we’d eat on site for our wedding anniversary but it was like an episode of Fawlty Towers watching the same gentleman who checked our booking in, serve at the bay and show us to our table. We gave up waiting for someone to come to our table in the restaurant for a drinks order and instead collected in person at the bar. We could see every table around us looking very frustrated and angry even before we ordered. It’s the first restaurant where mains came before starters. Completely understaffed and wrecked our anniversary celebrations. There’s an M&S at the local BP garage. You’ll get a better microwave meal from there than eating at the Lookout bar & eatery.

Unfortunately our family evening meal was disappointing as the service was very slow, mainly due to staffing levels being low. Staff tried hard however the stress on the staff eventually told on the service provided..

The food was very nice but the service was very poor, not enough staff we had to ask to be served and for the bill as it took ages!

We arrived on time and were shown straight to our table. The menu is already very limited and we were told there was no pizza nor something else which I can't remember. Service was leisurely no doubt because they are short staffed, and that did not bother us too much. The food was good but it is quite expensive for what it is. We have had cheaper and better meals in the general area. The main problem we encountered was yapping dogs which did have an impact on the enjoyment of our meal. Dogs should be banned from the main restaurant area. Would we go again - very unlikely.

Lovely restaurant, great service and ideal for families. Service was super fast. The restaurant accommodated us as they were fully booked.

We arrived slightly early so the bar lady said for us to take a seat in the bar area which we duly did with our drinks. Within 5 minutes we were shown through to our table. The waitress apologised for the wait but I explained it hadn’t been long. Our drinks order was taken and we had them within 5 minutes. There were four of us in total, we chose 2 starters to share and then 3 pizzas and a beef chilli. The nachos were delicious so to was the bruschetta. We did wait a good 40 minutes for the main courses but we weren’t in a hurry and it was nice to have a bit of space in between starter and main. I did mention to the waitress she had seemed very busy and she said they were short staffed but at all times she was very apologetic and friendly. I’m sorry people have not given them good reviews but it’s the Managements fault not the waiter and waitresses. We had lovely food and great service so thank you.

Little point in doing a review as most of the comments here say it all but you clearly do nothing to address them. Poor menu, overpriced and much nicer places to eat.

Unfortunately, we didn’t even stay for a meal! We received a phone call about 2.5 hours before we were due at the restaurant with an apology to say that their pizza oven was not working. I specifically asked whether they had other options and was told ‘oh yes, there are plenty of other options’, so we decided to still go. When we arrived, on time, there were only 2 staff working there and they were running around trying to keep everyone happy. The lad behind the bar politely shouted over and asked us to bear with him. We stood at the entrance for a good 10 minutes before his colleague approached us. Again, he as very polite and apologised for the delay and he took us to our table. We were given one creased up, dirty paper menu to share between 3 of us. With pizzas off the menu, it was very limited, we struggled to find something for each of us, but eventually opted for our choices. We then waited again for a further 20 minutes, before I had to go and find one of the waiters and ask him if he would take our order. Again, he apologised, and came straight over. The first of our party started to order, and the waiter then interrupted to say that their option was not available, he then went in to tell us 3 other items on the menu that were not available! Why he couldn’t have told us that 20 minutes prior, when he gave us the menu, I do not know! This is no exaggeration to say that there were only 2 main course options left, and not a single vegetarian option. Bearing in mind our table was booked for 7pm, hardly a late sitting, so it does seem unbelievable that they had ran out of so many things! We asked for a second to reconsider and it soon became clear that we could not select anything from the options available. Very disappointingly, we sadly decided to leave without eating or drinking. I cannot comment on the food, but to be honest I felt sorry for the 2 young lads working there. They were so busy and very polite, but the place was clearly under-staffed, lacking leadership and obviously lacking food!

Limited menu which was made even more difficult when half of the dishes were not available. Staff worked hard but needed more support as service was slow. Plenty of other places to eat in Cornwall so give them a go first before eating here. Expensive for what was essentially burger and chips.
