Party of 5 (2 x vege's and 1 x vegan). Food was amazing and as far to say, probably the best roast dinner we've had out in a while. Highly recommend. Little on the pricey side but it was wonderful! Would have liked a few more options (or even one more) for vege and great that we liked that particular option.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the usual good experience here. The main course took over an hour after starters to arrive, no one informed us or apologised for the delay. The main meal was over cooked, the fish and chips were dry and crispy. We did not complain, but decided against a tip. When we paid, the lady behind the bar who took our payment muttered loudly and grumpily ‘no tip then, thanks’ which is very very inappropriate. We left not wanting to return, sadly as previously we have had good experiences here.

We arrived for New Year’s Eve dinner. We were greeted quickly on arrival. The venue was quite busy as expected. We were seated at a table by the door however asked to be moved into the main restaurant which was promptly dealt with. We had to ask for a drinks menu and they took a while to turn up and by then the starters arrived. The food quality and presentation was excellent. Would definitely go back. Nice experience.

Went for a Sunday roast as recommended by a friend. Limited options (beef or chicken) but it was utterly wonderful. Had every element you would want on a roast. Kids roast also very good too - it’s quite expensive but I’d happily pay when the food is this good than pay less for a substandard roast. Would return again to try the weekday/evening menu. Small point, the tables are quite close together which then doesn’t allow for a lot of privacy.

Amazing! We had a beautiful beef roast dinner on New Year’s Day, the beef, veg and yorkies were amazing and they were really generous with the gravy which was great for me. We were so full we couldn’t manage a desert but they looked lovely too. Really friendly and helpful staff made it all the more enjoyable.

We recently ate at the QA on New Year's Day. The service is always polite and attentive and the food never disappoints. We enjoyed a range of food from kids menu, to roasts, to specials and puds. The roasts were great and packed with veg, reflecting the price you pay. The kids portion was slightly small for the child it served. (I wonder if the age of child gets shared with the kitchen?) We had to share our roasts with the child to make up the smaller portion. The reduced menu was able to please all and we appreciated the specials options too. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The cut out space is a little less modernised than the main part of the pub but still pleasant. Thank you QA. We will be back.

The food and service was excellent as usual. I had the pork loin and my husband had the blade of beef both were delicious and so were the desserts.

New Years Eve, group of 6 friends - total success. What a fabulous way to celebrate our "early evening" ; our visit was exceptional, we managed nearly 3 hours at the table! 6 wonderful meals, one dairy free, all meals were close to perfection accompanied by reasonably priced wine. Our waitress was so attentive, friendly and helpful this was the icing on the cake. Without doubt the best restaurant in the area. Well done to the HH team, long may this continue and thank you.

We recently had our Christmas Day lunch at the Hopping Hare. We have eaten there before and had birthday celebrations there too. We normally enjoy our visits. Unfortunately for us the service on this occasion fell short. When we arrived we were left standing in the doorway with several members of staff passing us numerous times without acknowledgement - no one greeted us or gave a “Merry Christmas'. We were eventually told our table would be 5-10 minutes which is not a problem, however we were given no direction to go through to the bar or move from the entrance way we were just left standing there, so we made the decision to get a drink at the bar which was also quite a wait although we were the only ones waiting. The food was nice and probably at the same standard that it normally is - which we do enjoy. The service at the table was mostly fine albeit slow but our dessert plates were left for over 40 mins when finished, we eventually caught someone's attention and asked for them to be cleared and if we were going to be getting the final course of mince pies which they then brought over. We were then not returned to again and had to go up to pay our bill. It felt like we’d be forgotten. Also, the table next to us arrived after us but were gone sooner, it also appeared that somehow they had access to additional menu items that were not available to us. We absolutely appreciate that it was Christmas Day and it was busy, but given the price we were paying and normal friendly attitude of staff, all we were really hoping for was some Christmas cheer and to be spoken to when we arrived. We wouldn’t have Christmas Day lunch there again.

We came on New Year's Eve day for Sunday lunch. We've been to the HH quite a few times, including for our wedding "breakfast" and the high quality is consistent, no matter what day or what time we've been. The majority of the staff have been there since we started coming here about 3 years ago and that seems to me to be a good sign. They are friendly and professional. But it's the food that keeps us coming back, imaginative, good quality and very well cooked. Our meal included starters of smoked salmon and goats cheese panna cotta, mains of turkey and roast beef, desserts of clementine panna cotta and chocolate and caramel bread and butter pudding. I'm not going into details of all the accompaniments that made each course special, but each course was delicious. It makes me happy to come here.

My family and I (6 of us) had lunch yesterday, New Year’s Eve and for all of us it was the best and finest food we have eaten in a very long time. We all felt that The Hopping Hare deserves at least 1 Michelin Star; beautifully presented, beautifully cooked and the service was excellent. Evie was very good remembering all our drinks and our names and the waitress serving our food was equally good, both very professional. It is not cheap to eat there but it was worth every penny. Thank you Hopping Hare.
