Fat Cat Cafe Bar – BangorThe best chips in the County!
Ellen’s Traditional Fish and Chip Shop – ArmaghThe best Fish & Chips in East Belfast if not Northern Ireland Well cooked chunky chips and Fish in the best batter you could taste iv,e tried a lots of chippys but i will not go anywhere else....Well done Smyths
Smyths Traditional Fish and Chips – BelfastThis place has been operating from what was the Marquis Of Down public house, for just over a year. It has now become the premier eatery in a area renowned for it's restaurants.
The Parson’s Nose – HillsboroughAfter our first visit to Phezulu we have to say that there is no other eating venue in Northern Ireland where you actually feel full and satisfied after the amazing starters available!! During the main course which was very special (& nice and hot like Africa!) the unique flavours transported you into the heart of South Africa. 10/10 Phezulu thanks for a great evening it was not "Boering" at all
Phezulu – BangorFish and chips are very good. But they close earlier than their advertised time!
Katies Plaice – Newtownardsi thought the service was good but the food was just about average a tad on the boring side .it has a lovely romantic atmosphere ,would recommend to loved up couples .
The Red Pepper Restaurant – CastledergWe run a B&B a couple of miles away and have sent hundreds of guests to the Vaynol over the years, without a complaint and many commendations. We also eat there ourselves. The traditional food is always freshly cooked and delicious, You might have to wait a while as it's NOT straight from the freezer and microwaved! Just have another pint of real ale at the adjacent real pub bar! The "Specials" board changes frequently. The vegetables are charged extra which is unusual but well worth it. This is a real local pub with real locals, and interesting old pictures from the nearby slate quarries.
Vaynol Arms – Bangorthis one of the best restaurants Ive ever eaten at....the food is fresh and staff are very friendly....I always eat at Oysters when in strabane....
Oysters in Strabane – StrabaneGreat to have a decent Indian in the center of Bangor. Very good accommodating service - managed to cater for a large group of us arriving sporadically. The menu is wide ranging but not to the extent that it becomes hard to decide what to have. Food was really good quality - great flavours and better meat than a lot of Indian restaurants use. Not expensive and they do student discount. Hopefully as this place becomes more popular it will start to fill up, because it really is a very good eatery indeed.
Spicy Vujon Indian Restaurant – BangorWhat an abysmal and nightmarish 3 days. I was in the unrenovated annex building, top floor. Christ, what a technicolour pile of sick the room was, hadn't been decorated in at least 25 years. The toilet hadn't been cleaned, the bed squeaked every time you moved, the cabinets where chipped MFI 70's jobs with bits missing, the pillows flat as they come, the carpet worn and dirty, the wallpaper some faded Laura Ashley stuff marked and damp / peeling under the window. The room was top floor and upon arrival I had to wait for the guy working there to offer a hand with my bags. Eventually we slogged up the 3 flights in the dark and depressing 'Rising Damp' like annex. Oh and the 'resturant' - oh my, what a thing to behold! 3 days running the music, a singular Tamala Motown CD was too loud (3 other people as well as myself repeatdly ask for it to be turned down) and intrusive. On the second night one of the staff apologised and said the owner thought it was a 'banging' CD to play. Maybe so, but he ain't got to listen to it repeatdly while trying to have his dinner. The food, is over cook and over priced. The cutlery and china again old and worn. The tables.....what happened to using table cloths????? The vniyl 'table cloths' a la transport cafe are not removed, they simply spray them (the tops that is) with anti bac. The sides go (from the stains) go unwashed. The bar area (there is no reception, your at the mercy of getting help from the bar) is again circa 1968 - 75, drab and unwelcoming. The staff are there to represent the Hotel, they need new new uniforms ones that fit and arn't stained, give them a bit of pride. For the most part, the younger members of staff are a bit clueless or there as it's a job, the older staff are polite and helpful and the ones in the middle smile as they treat you an annoyance. It's a real shame, the views across the Menai are stunning. This grand old place needs a new owner, one to give it some love, sort the rest of the rooms, the bar and resturant out. Bottom line - booked for 6 nights, left on day 3 - couldn't face staying.
Eryl Mor Hotel – BangorNoodle One is one of those places that you drop in to for a quick supper on the move, before a night out or something. It's really relaxed, bench seated and simplistic, with big screen tellies silently playing anime and non-invasive music on. The staff are always really friendly and the prices are reasonable. The menu is fairly basic, three options for mains, noodle soup, curry or yaki udon/sorba and there a varieties of each options. There's a range of starters, deserts and drinks available, so you can always put together a decent meal. Last time I was there I was disappointed that my starters were really cold when they came out and to be honest I'm a little bored of the menu after several visits, but it's worth popping in to.
Noodle One – BangorSunday Lunch, £18.95. Served 1pm-3pm.
