Ning – Northern QuarterWe went out this weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. The best surprise was when they gave a beautiful birthday cake to my friend. We ordered the banquet and it was delicious and tasty. I was so full after the meal. The service was top notch and also very friendly. Loved the restaurant it's got such a good atmosphere. I'll be back. Thank you
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterThe atmosphere (from the decor, to the friendly staff) & the food is great, nice portions, good value for money. Also, I'm Muslim so the Halal meat is a big PLUS!!
Ning – Northern QuarterWe were in Manchester on August bank holiday Monday and used sugarvine to print out a selection of offers for city centre restaurants. After much deliberation we opted for Ning for dinner, We loved it. We took up the offer of 3 coures for £10!!! Fab food, massive portions and great staff. Deserves to succeed
Ning – Northern QuarterLove this place , been around for ages and is still amazing , CHEESECAKE is AWESOME yum yum
Simple Bar and Kitchen – Northern QuarterMy wife and I went to try the Beijing Taster menu. It was a brilliant dining experience as we learnt about the regional food and the pairing of the wines. Each course was delicious and the service was outstanding. I will be returning with more friends and also booking for Christmas at Sweet Mandarin. Thank you for a wonderful night out.
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterWe were recommended the restaurant by my work colleagues. We tried the banquet B and loved the platter (the best salt and pepper ribs i've ever tasted). There was so much food for 2 people we couldn't eat it all. The waiter was kind enough to encourage us to doggy bag. The food was very tasty, fresh and plenty of it. I loved the decor of the restaurant - so trendy and modern. I will be coming back for their Taste of China evenings. Also their wine was really good too. Thanks for a brilliant night.
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterLocal, nice atmosphere, good spacing of tables, excellent service
Ning – Northern QuarterI went there recently with my family. Within 3 hours we were all suffering symptoms of food poisoning. We were all violently sick and had crippling diarrhea. Standards are disgusting, look for yourself, look at the carpets. No Chinese people go there anymore. We all know how bad the food is!
Glamorous – Northern QuarterI have visited Sweet Mandarin many times and the food is delicious and the service friendly and efficient. I brought some friends from London to the restaurant and had a brilliant time. I've just bought their book too and can't wait to read it. If you've not tried Sweet Mandarin you must! Also northern quarter is a great spot now - buzzing and cool.
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterWe were recommended Sweet Mandarin by many work colleagues and decided to go try the restaurant. I decided to try their new cocktail Mandarin Jazz and i wasn't disappointed. The food was tasty and plentiful. I certainly was impressed with the service and food. I will be recommending Sweet Mandarin to many more work colleagues.
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterFantastic restaurant! Food is really yummy with some really authentic Malay dishes that I haven't seen in other Malay restaurants in the UK. There are always specials along with the main menu. Loads of options for veggies and all reasonably priced compared to elsewhere in the city. Restaurant also has full disabled access. Service is great, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Nice touches such as the waiting staff ask if you're ready for your next course. The owners are usually around and always take the time to talk to you/ask if you've enjoyed your meal. Decor is beautiful and modern but not pretentious. This restaurant is great for any event, whether it be a romantic meal for 2 or a group night out. It's the only restaurant in Manchester that has ever inspired me to write a review!
Ning – Northern QuarterUnderstated sophistication!
Ning – Northern QuarterThe food was excellent, as was the service. All of my friends agreed that Ning was top notch and I'm sure many of us will return in the future.
Ning – Northern QuarterAlthough this has been one of my favourites for some years now, after my recent visit today (28th March 2008) I will not be returning in a hurry; not only has my old favourite the beer battered fish, chips and mushy peas crept up some £2 or £3, but the food myself and girlfriend chose was not too pleasing. Firstly we ordered the fish finger sandwich and the chicken ciabatta with lemon and thyme, we also ordered a side of skinny fries which the waitress neglected to tell us also came with the 2 meals we ordered so we had a surplus of skinny fries. The chicken ciabatta had onion and sage stuffing in which was not described anywhere in the menu and my Girlfriend did not enjoy at all; despite my complaining to the waiter who cleared the table, and then again at the bar where I paid for the bill, there was no offer of refund for the unpleasant sandwich which would at the least have taken the bitter sting out of the bill let alone the taste of the sandwich.
Bluu – Northern QuarterNot a place to go if you want choice, service or atmosphere! Choice - Not a lot for a veggie Sevice - Seriously, its like having my mum pester around me! Atmosphere - never been to a restaurant with so few people in it (prob because of the price and the fact it isn't in chinatown)
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterI thought the £10 2-course menu was good value. For my starter I chose the Chicken Murtabak (pancake consisting of chicken, onion, potation, egg and herb), which I thought was yummy. My main meal was the Masak Merah (chicken in chilli tomato and onion sauce) accompanied by jasmine rice, which was also delicious. I hear that in March 2008 they have introduced 20% off for takeouts (call and collect). I’ll definitely be visiting again.
Ning – Northern Quarterthe food is out of this world... best food in town
