Superb food, and service. All the staff worked very well, appeared a great team.
The Apple Inn – BamburghThe pub appears to have been recently renovated and is now smart but somewhat aseptic in feeling - not a traditional pub in feeling. Food was good however service was slow. Food is expensive - the two of us only had mains each + medium glasses of wine + coffee at £70. Certainly dog friendly.
The Apple Inn – BamburghHad a fabulous lunch here last week, celebrating my wifes birthday along with our grown up kids. The service was great, the young man looking after us (sorry, I didn't get your name) was very polite, obliging and attentive, taking our order and serving efficiently. The food was lovely, we had soup, chilli skins, fishcake and bruschetta for starters, would recommend all. Mains were steak and guinness pie - wonderful, tasty and tender, and felafel and sweet potato burger - equally nice. Good choice of beers and wine at reasonable prices. This was a great experience, booked easily online, and no complaints at all. Would thoroughly recommend. Looking forward to coming back soon.
The Apple Inn – BamburghLovely food, good service and great staff. When bookinģ for a meal you should be informed that dogs are allowed in the restaurant and perhaps be offered alternative eating area.
The Apple Inn – BamburghFirst time back at the Queens Head since it reopened. We had a very friendly warm welcome from the hosts, including our Flatcoat. The food we ordered was great, perfectly prepared and full of flavour. The service from the lads was exceptional with what was available and any issues with the food. Overall a very enjoyable night, we will certainly be returning.
The Queens Head – MatfenWe had two lovely meals at The Apple Inn and can really recommend the crusted salmon and the steak pie. Their signature Apple Dessert is both clever and very tasty making it one of the best desserts we've had in a very long time. Great and friendly service from some very busy but calm staff, good local beer, tasty local gin, dog-friendly and deservedly popular!
The Apple Inn – BamburghA lovely experience from start to finish and so easy to book online. Wonderful customer service - such a lovely friendly welcome, attentive but not too much! Nothing was a problem and so nice to be welcomed to somewhere with our fox red Labrador. (There are so many places that say they are dog friendly, but you have to keep them under the table, best behaviour etc., Our girl was very good, but it’s off putting to see that). The food was delicious and after a 4 hour drive, the nice cold Amstel went down a treat. Highly highly recommended! ⭐️
The Apple Inn – BamburghThe breakfast at the school house was fantastic. My wife and I used the School House for three consecutive mornings. We had different breakfasts on each day and we were not disappointed. The food quality was great. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant for early in the day. Plus our Labrador was welcome and even got a free sausage of her own from the wonderful staff.
The School House – BamburghBest breakfast ever! The kippers & eggs Royale were excellent - plentiful, beautifully presented & very tasty. Tea & latte were a little too weak for our tastes however (despite brewing tea in pot for some time!). Website & Sugarvine confusing as opening times/ meal offerings are different. It appears that breakfast is available but no lunch/afternoon tea?). The building, decor & layout is superb. It is spacious, light & airey where our dogs were welcomed to accompany us whilst we dined. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. As in the Apple Inn, the staff are not allowed to keep their tips given directly to them which is a shame when you want to treat the individual staff for their great service. Both the Schoolhouse & Apple Inn have provided the best food, service & surroundings on our holiday. We will return & do highly recommend both establishments.
The School House – BamburghOn holiday in nearby cottage and our first visit booked on line after reading previous reviews. Our visit did not disappoint ,the whole experience from welcome to paying was enjoyable to say the least. Friendly staff, varied menu and quality food delivered , can highly recommend the chicken supreme and pork loin which was our choice . Lovely atmosphere ,visiting dogs all well behaved , only adverse comment not aimed at staff was an annoying child playing a game on an iPhone on full volume , surely the parents could have had them playing it on mute. Maybe a polite notice on the tables to ask for consideration for other diners would be a good idea. Have recommended this venue in the visitors book at our rental. Thank you to all involved.
The Apple Inn – BamburghWe looked forward to Sunday lunch for a delayed father's day celebration. The atmosphere and staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. The food was enjoyable but not exceptional. Unfortunately it arrived 1.5 hours after we arrived, whilst service was not busy. In conclusion a mixed experience.
The Queens Head – MatfenLovely meal. Pleasant surroundings. Credit must be given to the staff, particularly to the young man who I think was called Cori. He was exceptionally attentive and well mannered. If only more places had staff like him. Would definitely eat here again.
The Apple Inn – BamburghFirst time at the Apple Inn for Sunday dinner. Booked easily on line for a party of 4. We were seated at a great table with space for our 2 large dogs to settle which was ideal. This a really smart pub with ample parking and a lovely setting inside and out. There is a varied & interesting menu which was a nice change but actual menu cards needed a quick wipe down. Mushrooms & pulled pork bao buns to start, roast dinners of large Yorkshire puddings with good sized slices of gammon, lamb & beef, & steak/ Guinness pie with fresh vegetables were all tasty & thoroughly enjoyable. The desserts of the signature apple and apple & cinnamon pie were superb. All of the staff were friendly yet polite & professional, especially the young man who served us. We really enjoyed our visit & would highly recommend the Apple Inn.
The Apple Inn – BamburghGreat food again. Service not so good as we enjoyed in the week. Great atmosphere
The Apple Inn – BamburghFabulous place to eat. Took two dogs every time we visited during our holiday and the staff were amazing. Food delicious and service top notch.
The Apple Inn – BamburghExcellent service and the food lived up to its reputation
