The School House – BamburghCame here on holiday for my husband’s birthday. We were shown to a table in the corner out of the way. Food was lovely but we were not visited after the food was put down -I would have asked for extra gravy. We couldn’t attract anyone’s attention due to the corner positioning. We would have asked for more drinks but again no way of attracting more attention. A shame. We had to go up to the bar to pay the end of our time here as again no one around and no apology. Nice food but somewhat lacking in hospitality.
The Apple Inn – BamburghLovely pub with really good food. We ate twice there whilst on holiday in Lucker and enjoyed our meals very much.
The Apple Inn – BamburghEnjoyed our evening. Food good, staff friendly and efficient. However everything was rushed. We no sooner finished our starter than the main course turned up. We felt that they would like us to get our dinner and leave ASAP. It was 9.40pm when we did leave.
The Apple Inn – BamburghWe had our first meal here on Tuesday 22nd June which was excellent, some have booked to come back on 3 more occasions during our stay at Lucker Hall. Best gastro pub we have been to in a long time
The Apple Inn – BamburghStayed in the cottages in Lucker and had breakfast here twice. All day breakfast was great! Local produce, well cooked and nice surroundings. Beats cooking your own!
The School House – Bamburghgreat service from the staff just disappointed with the look and presentation of the mains .Lamb over cooked and very small portions.
The Apple Inn – BamburghFour of us had breakfast at the Schoolhouse. Two people had the full cooked, and two of us had the salmon Royale. Sadly the meals were served on cold plates and some of the food items were cool on eating. The service we felt was slow considering the venue was not busy. The building itself and the decor were superb. Early days I know and a few tweaks will make all the difference.
The School House – BamburghGreat food and friendly attentive service
The School House – BamburghWe visited The Apple Inn on Saturday night and had a truly delicious meal. The atmosphere in the pub is lovely, the service from everyone was extremely friendly and professional and the food was cooked to perfection . We enjoyed every minute we spent there and would highly recommend it.
The Apple Inn – BamburghWe ate here twice whilst on holiday in Seahouses from 12th to 19th June ( the Monday and the Thursday)as we had enjoyed the food previous years. It is a great menu and great service fully complying with all the Covid regulations. The menu is varied and the service polite and very efficient. The waitress remembered us on the Thursday always a sign of interest when the staff do that.Good helpings. also. Would definitely come again when we are in the area which won't be till next year unfortunately..Definitely need to book. Don't understand the bad review below. Sounds like a completely different place.
The Apple Inn – BamburghFood and service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend the muscles and the fish and chips both amazing.
The Apple Inn – BamburghWe managed to secure a booking on a Saturday evening - no mean feat as it turned out. At 7pm the place was buzzing, but sensible Covid measures were in place. We intended to have a main course and a sweet, but the Rack of Lamb (for me) and the halibut (for her) were too filling to contemplate a second course. We will have to try again. Service was spot-on, as were the drinks. Lucker is lucky to have such a great pub in the heart of the village.
The Apple Inn – BamburghArriving at the venue, it promised so much. The Schoolhouse is a very inviting restaurant with a super menu, however unfortunately a sequence of matters let it down. The restaurant was empty when we arrived for our 11.30am brunch. We simply wanted some tomato ketchup with our full English breakfast, but alas we were told there was none. Fortunately for future diners it was due to be delivered soon. The two ladies in the party chose eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce had separated and was cold. Perhaps the cold glass plate, inappropriately small for this dish may have exacerbated this. The muffin was typical of a frozen , slightly tough bread bun revived in the microwave and not in keeping with the venue or prices. All in all the eggs Benedict was a poor failure. The full breakfast menu promised us ‘homemade’ beans. Sadly they were homemade by Heinz. I did enquire as to this but no explanation could be given. The meals were more than half eaten when I finally cracked and asked for the toast, also promised on the menu. This despite the venue being virtually empty. Having canvassed the party the consensus is 5 out of 10. I would be extremely concerned regarding this if I was the owner or manager of The Schoolhouse
The School House – BamburghGroup of 5. Excellent food and service. Staff friendly and helpful.
The Apple Inn – BamburghAs we had a nice evening drink here, we booked for a mid week meal and looked forward to a pleasant evening. The food was nice, but the service was non existent. Having been asked 3 times (twice by the same person) what we wanted to drink, they took a while to arrive. When we ordered another round, the wrong wine came, although we’d said what it was we wanted. They did bring the correct wine after we told them again. After we had finished our mains, we finished our drinks and assumed we would be asked if we wanted more drinks/desert/coffee/the bill. We sat for at least half an hour with empty glasses with staff serving other tables but not once asking if our meal was ok, or if we wanted anything else. Although we had planned on a dessert, we got fed up waiting and decided to pay and leave. Such a shame! We eat out a lot and expected a bit more as reviews were so good. Won’t come again.
The Apple Inn – BamburghLovely setting, super service and delicious food.
