The Codfather – NorthwichA real gem obviously run by people who really care about the food they serve and sell. As local Northwich residents we are lucky to have such an excellent establishment on our doorstep.
The Codfather – NorthwichWe have been having Fish and Chips at the Seafarer since the 1970's . Even though we now live in Liverpool we still go to Northwich as we love the Town and always enjoy the Fish and Chips at the Seafarer afterwards. . They are always freshly cooked and the fish is in a very light batter and the chips are first rate to. And don't forget the mushy peas as well. Hope you enjoy them as much as we have all these years.
The Seafarer – Northwichoverall this was a good experience. The food was above average, if not slightly overpriced. We would go back but don't like it as much as the Brunning and price pubs, the frozen mop and the bears Paw. I think the attention to detail here falls short in several areas and this establishment has a muddled identity. The staff were very friendly and attentive and service was of a high standard. I can recommend the lamb but don't expect large portions. The wine list has some quality wines to choose from. Don't let the excess of olive green paint get you down !! I would give this place 7 1/2 / 10. In summary, room for improvement but a cut above the norm, if money does not matter.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichRobert and Anita, the hosts at the Spinner, should be rightly proud of this superb hostelry. We have always enjoyed meals at this comfortable and welcoming pub. Food is generally locally sourced and imaginatively cooked, delicious and large portions with a wine list for all tastes and pockets. This is the best food in the area at very economical prices, eg. main courses at approx £9 -16.
Spinner and Bergamot – NorthwichThis is a fantastic place if you are looking for non pretentious, good old fashioned pub food with substantial sized portions. Real chips! Real food! A favourite with the locals, which is a good sign too . We are grateful we luckily came across this pace, and will be back sooner than later
Maypole Inn – NorthwichI had a meal with my wife and another couple on the evening of Saturday 24th October and I'm afraid to say it was a hugely disappointing experience. Our last visit was prior to the Mooney's acquisition of the restaurant. My wife and I both had the Black pudding starter, which (according to the menu would be accompanied by home-made curried apple chutney. The black puddings were tasteless, the potato was also tasteless and cold and the apple sauce was clearly out of a jar with not the merest hint of curry or chutney. For main course I had Sea Bream, which arrived (a single, small fillet) with four 'dabs' of what was supposed to be a type of ratatouille - pathetic at £13.95! After the meal we asked which malt whiskies were available. There was Glenmorangie and Glenfroaig - the waitress also told us that they had Grants and Bells - so clearly she didn't understand what a 'malt whisky' was. We declined and asked for Port instead. The waitress returned to advise that they didn't have any. I raised my dissatisfactions, privately and discretely with the manager - Stuart. He advised that there was no demand for malts or port? When we received the bill (which was in excess of £160 for the 4 of us) he had taken a total of £7.50 from it. I wouldn't recommend the Duke of Portland to anybody.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichWe love this chinese buffet its very cheap and cheerful. Very Polite staff including the manager You can have what ever you want from the buffet for just 9.00 per head ( Not Including Drinks) i highly recommend Mr Fu`s restaurant if your a great chinese lover like ourselves
Mr Fus Restaurant – Northwichi have been to this traditional fish and chip shop on more than a couple of occasions everytime i ve always been served by helpful energetic staff only to willing to help you and most of all you are greeted on your arrival wouldn't go anywhere else . This is the place to be on a Friday tea time
The Codfather – NorthwichHave been a regular customer at this restaurant since it opened 14 years ago.Food is excellent and of a consistently high quality.Michael and his staff make each visit a pleasure.Numerous people we have taken agree, its a lovely restaurant, well priced food in lovely surroundings. Will be there tomorrow night 19/02/09 with the family.Keep going back even though we now live in Carlisle.
Emperors Court – NorthwichLovely food, although not very warm. Service was absolutely terrible. We waited an hour for starter. Management didn't think this was a problem. We also had to go to the bar to get drinks as waiters didn't come to table.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichVery pleasant visit the other Sunday. The slow cooked lamb was delicious and I certainly don't mind paying slightly more if I'm to receive food of this quality! The live band - Three Point Turn - kept everyone entertained with their jigs and reels. Strongly recommend this place.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichJust had the Set Sunday Lunch Menu. 4 courses for £9.50. Soup, Appetisers, Choice of Main and Ice cream to follow. Excellent Value. The food and service was very good. Will definitely visit again.
Jade Buddha Chinese Restaurant – NorthwichI have eaten here on a few separate occasions and I've always enjoyed my meal. I took my wife for Tea last night and we both opted for the Game Pie. I asked the waitress twice if it came with veg and Chips as the menu was unclear which she said yes. The Pie was 16 pound a head and when it was delivered there were a couple of Crisps a pie but no veg. So we waited and waited eventually someone realised something was wrong and they came over they said the veg was in the pie so they brought us some more over. There wasn't veg in the pie only a hair which fortunately was in my dinner and not my wife's who felt physically sick. The manager came over and I explained about the quality of the food and service I wasn't even kicking off I was merely explaining to assist them in future. They knocked the Veg and bowl of chips off the bill. I will never eat here again especially when there are other restaurants like the Plough and the Blue Cap who even when they don't provide quality food always provide excellent service
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichI found this place to be average to good on all counts except service which was disorganised at best.
Duke Of Portland – NorthwichThe Crystal Restaurant is open to non-residents. The menu is modern english/ european with strong french influences. The food was outstanding. The restaurant obviously sources high quality and fresh produce, and then prepares it to the highest standards. We had the Sea Bass, which was just perfect. And the fillet of beef, which has got to be one of the best fillets of beef we have ever tasted. The presentation is a little over-fussy, but not surprising as they are proud of their food. The service was very attentive and the courses perfectly timed. The Victorian Hall is in a beautiful setting, and the decor reeks of genuine old luxury, with wood panelling and paintings on every side. The gardens are beautiful, and if your table is by a window you have a lovely view. -This must be a dream location for wedding receptions! However, with a dress code (-no jeans!) and slightly snooty staff, the atmosphere is a trifle stuffy and formal. We found to difficult to relax, and found ourselves heading off for more soothing surroundings without any spoken debate. But we're glad we tried it, if only for the food which would not be out of place on the table of a gourmet restaurant in Paris.
Nunsmere Hall Hotel – NorthwichA warm and inviting atmosphere, the Kingfisher is a pleasant evening out. The restaurant blends in well with the rest of the floor-plan, The meals are well presented, tasty and filling. The specials menu proves to be popular, but I chose from the standard menu myself, of which has an excellent selection. My meal was presented hot, and with a smile. The waitress attended to my every need without hovering over me. All in all, a very pleasant and comfortable evening out at a reasonable price.
Kingfisher The – NorthwichThis is a Hot Buffet restaurant every day of the week. Me and my grown up children are regular visitors. There is plenty of food, starters, mains and sweets. The menu is varied frequently which is great for regular customers. The price is average but the quality and variety of food is great. Regular customers build up a rapport with the staff and are welcomed by their first names.
