About 1176 Cardigan

Perched among the ancient walls and sun-dappled gardens of Cardigan Castle, 1176 Restaurant is a dining destination that pairs panoramic views of the River Teifi with thoughtful, season-driven cooking. It’s named after the year of Wales’ first recorded Eisteddfod, which took place within the castle walls, and the 70-seater restaurant is a contemporary slate structure with floor-to-ceiling windows and a sun terrace for the warmer months. The team behind Cardigan’s popular Copper Pot have recently taken over management here.

Meal excellent, service at table very good. Only disappointment was when I phoned to book I made a simple seating request based on my mother's disabilities, I was told this could be accommodated. No record was made of these requests, therefore we were seated without her needs being met. Would visit again but feel we need to book in person at the restaurant .

Had Sunday lunch here which was excellent. Staff very friendly and efficient and the food was very good. It was St David’s Day and our anniversary and when we mentioned it they did a special presentation for the dessert!

We visited 1176 for a team work breakfast and it was excellent. Great atmosphere and service and the food was absolutely delicious. We’d highly recommend the hash browns — they were a standout! We’ll definitely be back for sure. A perfect location as well!
