Perched among the ancient walls and sun-dappled gardens of Cardigan Castle, 1176 Restaurant is a dining destination that pairs panoramic views of the River Teifi with thoughtful, season-driven cooking. It’s named after the year of Wales’ first recorded Eisteddfod, which took place within the castle walls, and the 70-seater restaurant is a contemporary slate structure with floor-to-ceiling windows and a sun terrace for the warmer months. The team behind Cardigan’s popular Copper Pot have recently taken over management here.

Sunday lunch was so delicious, we were a table of 6, each had the roast and was so good. Desserts were very good priced, and tasty. Food was cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely will come again when next in Cardigan .

Excellent Sunday lunch, as usual. Just disappointed that the Eton Mess was not available as the cream was not whipping as it should! Seemed a little odd.

We both had the veggie Sunday roast. It was sadly very disappointing. The nut roast was bland and hard to get through, yorkshires were overcooked, the roast potatoes weren’t great. It wasn’t terrible/all terrible and the dauphinoise potatoes were really good but it was overpriced for what it was. To be fair, they did offer us a drink on the house…but we were more interested in finding good food which we unfortunately didn’t

Very friendly welcome followed by excellent service. The food was excellent as welland if I had to be picky it would only be to say that a 10/10 was not quite reached due to the roast potatoes being what seemed to be deep fried instead of actual roasties. We will certainly go regularly as the overall food and service combination was the best we've had in the whole of the Cardigan bay area.

Great meal and excellent service. Need more variation which is not bread / carb heavy. A fish option and some options without flatbread would be an enhancement to the menu. Hash Browns were amazing

Sampled a Saturday breakfast here. Staff were extremely welcoming and food was delicious. My husband was particularly impressed by the authentic shakshuka.
