About Annies Restaurant

Annies is owned by Coronation Street actress Jennie Mcalpine and her husband Chris Farr and opened in 2012. It's located just off St. Ann's Square in Manchester's iconic Royal Exchange building, tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Annies is the perfect setting to eat good old fashioned food and relax in comfort and style. With its wooden panelling, comfy armchairs and warm, friendly service Annies is designed to make you feel, not as if you are dining in one of the city's hectic restaurants but, as Jennie & Chris put it, 'like you are visiting your favourite Auntie.' For a business lunch, pre-theatre meal or leisurely evening dinner Annies is the place for you. More than just a restaurant, they are a family and everyone who visits becomes part of the unique place that they call home. Generations visit Annies together and create memories of special times sharing great food, in great company.

Enjoyed our meal there on Sunday, the food was good ,prices fair, the service was very good , the building is beautiful, the only thing that you could add for me is disabled access , I did manage all the steps, and step into restaurant, but some people can not. Do not know if there is disabled toilets on other floors . We did love it and have recommended to friends.

My husband and I had dinner on Saturday 30th March. It was a little tricky to get to as we'd decided to take the car, so for the benefit of future visitors we would suggest parking at the Arndale NCP and take a cab to the top of Old Bank Street. This is a superb venue, when you first arrive through the door you are greeted by friendly staff in the lounge. It felt so warming and informal in the way it is furnished. We were then led downstairs to be greeted by head waiter who gave such a pleasant greeting. The service really is superb, there was always someone attending to your every need, but without being intrusive. The place was bustling with people, with tables of two to larger parties, you could hear the humorous banter and chatter and the background music was just perfect. The menu was my problem, I wanted everything, I even joked could you do me a buffet of taster options ha ha....full credit to the chef as they really have considered their options. We had to start Bury Black Pudding Spring Rolls....oh they were so good, light crispy batter and the black pudding was a soft texture. I've never seen black pudding served like tat before. Mains were steak, trimmed and cooked perfectly in fact my husband said it was the best steak he'd ever had; whist I opted for Vegetable Cobbler with Cheese Scones and enjoyed very bit. It's rare that I get to dessert but found room for Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard - very moist sponge and the toffee sauce finished it well. Jenny came around and spoke to everyone which I thought was rather a nice personal touch. The decoration is quite informal but you get a mix of dress, so you wouldn't be out of place in a nice dress or jeans. Jenny and Chris your staff have really done you proud, thank you for making our 'date night' very memorable - needless to say we shall be coming again soon with friends and family.

We had my Wife's Birthday meal Friday evening. Great atmosphere, good food, and a real buzz in the place. A minor hiccup during service was recovered with support from the senior management, and we left late, having had a great time and would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a really good time , with good quality food at reasonable prices.

Went for lunch with my father and stepmother and it was a perfect afternoon. Service was perfect and food was exceptional. We all had the 3 course lunch menu and everything was perfection on a plate, the 3 cheese pie was exceptional and a must try! All in all a very enjoyable afternoon, perfect food and relaxing surroundings. Will be trying the evening selection soon!

Went for lunch here on saturday. We were greeted very warmly and even though the signage said they stopped serving lunch at 2pm we were accomodated with no fuss at all just after. The decor is very cosy and because the main dining area is downstairs we almost felt like it was evening. The food was very good, tasty and well portioned. We had home made pies for the main course, one was 3 cheese and onion and the other Chicken, leek and black pudding. Both were very good, warm filling and just the right size for lunch. The only slight criticism could be that we were often left alone in the dining room with no staff on hand for more drinks, to take dessert orders, or get the bill for us. It was very relaxed and in the evening this would have been great but for a lunchtime it was just a bit too relaxed as we had other things to do for the rest of the day. Overall this was a great experience and I would recommend everyone to try it out. The food was great and the welcome we received was second to none! I hope this place does well though as the owners were so nice!! Good luck Chris and Jenny!!
