Dining in A Disco I was invited to celebrate my sisters 60th birthday at CDJ Riverside. It was a private party of around 30 guests and I remain gobsmacked at the experience and put it down to: poor management, lack of consideration, ignorance, inexperience. Parallel to the Birthday celebration, the restaurant had organised a 70s revival night. The DJ was set up next to the dining area. We were a party of older and younger family members who wanted to chat and catch up with one another. Instead we were subjected to “Stayin' Alive, Dancing Queen and The Locomotion” at full blast during our 3 course meal. I can confirm that The Bee Gees and Sticky Toffee Pudding are not a good mix. Amazingly the 70s revival night was happening in the car park behind the restaurant so we were the only guests in the restaurant. We sat at the table in our casual smart gear shouting at each other between mouthfuls, DJ Danny Zuko keeping the energy high whilst Björn, Benny, Agnetha & Frida wandered past in their gold lamé jumpsuits down to the car park. Surely, it should have been crystal clear that hosting a 60th birthday celebration alongside a 70s revival night would be contradictory and incompatible? Even after the host and several guests asked for the volume be lowered, this didn't happen. The food was great, the service good but the evening was simply ruined by the noise level. If you are planning your Birthday party at CDJ Riverside be prepared for a Basil Fawlty experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, party of six, all with various tastes/food choices. We tried the tapas and had 3 plates each, this was more than enough to satisfy our appetites. The experience offered excellent value for money. This was a first visit, but will definitely not be our last. Definitely worth a visit.

We went for bottomless brunch and the drinks were free flowing. The quality of the food is exceptional and we had a great time. Dan is a wonderful chef. Thank you to Dan & all his staff. A wonderful afternoon.

Six weeks ago, I personally visited the restaurant to book a table for a 30th birthday celebration. I wanted to have a face-to-face discussion with the owner to go over specific details, including our preferred table location and room. This was crucial because we had previously experienced a less-than-ideal dining situation in the bar area previously. Despite that, some members of our group were eager to celebrate at this restaurant, and I was willing to give them another chance based on my prior experience. During my conversation with the owner, he was engaging and seemed genuinely committed to making our 30th birthday party a success. FAST FORWARD 6 WEEKS on the day of the celebration, I arrived at the venue with balloons and cake one hour before our booking slot, only to be told that we wouldn’t be seated in the agreed-upon area. Instead, they had taken another booking (a baby shower) that was deemed more financially beneficial, despite my reservation being made weeks earlier. I had not been notified of this by anyone from CDJ despite the time and effort I had put in with the owner to make sure all the detail was covered. Disappointingly, CDJ's approach was we would just be sat anywhere when we our party turned up… The response I received was disappointing: I was told, “You can all sit here,” pointedly in the bar area that I had specifically requested to avoid due to my past experience. After advocating for our case, I was met with indifference—“there’s nothing we can do about it.” Fortunately, we quickly found a new venue, The Retreat Bromley Cross, where we had a fantastic experience. The Sunday dinner platter was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, all at half the price of what we would have spent at CDJ for the very same food... I’m grateful to CDJ for inadvertently leading us to discover The Retreat. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Retreat (Bromley Cross) it as a modern, trendy food haven—a perfect spot for socialising and enjoying a meal.

Great food , Service was great apart from the waiter forgetting to bring the dessert menus .until reminded. It was quite noisy in the restraunt and echos alot. Where we were sat the sun was coming through the roof lantern and you couldn't see due to being blinded , perhaps some window blinds might help .

Visited for the first time on Sunday the 1st for our anniversary. Was very happy with the services, and the food was delicious. Will definitely be returning at some point and would recommend to others to try.
