Dined here with my girlfriend on Sunday afternoon and I have to say that this is a brilliant restaurant. It has a great location by the canal (Castle Quay) and a great display of varying awards you can have a nosey at. They have a few awards for their wine list and the wines are on display in temperature controlled rooms by the bar which is interesting. The food was fantastic; I had the chicken liver and black pudding salad to start followed by fresh sea bream with risotto and the assiette of puddings which consisted of trifle, eton mess, creme brulee and jam & cream scone, all were delicious. I have to give a special mention about the service which is the best I have seen, the staff here are brilliant; when you don't need them they are not there and when you need something they appear as if by magic, I don't know how they do it, very professional. They take an automatic 10% service charge just so as you know. Had some great cocktails afterwards, a gem of a restaurant, try it!!!!

First visit to this restaurant and thought it was really really nice. Lovely atmosphere - classy but not snotty and the staff were really friendly. Set looking over the Castlefield canals, it was so peaceful, especially as the weather was nice for a change. The food was amazing and although we didn't have any wine because my wife was pregnant, it looked like an amazing selection. We'll definitely be going back soon.

Do yourself a favour..... 1) Find out when Jennifer Sawden is playing at choice next. 2) BOOK A TABLE!!!!! Took my wife there on our anniversary. The food was top class and being able to sit at the piano after dinner drinking cocktails listening to Jennifer play was a privilege.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Classy without being snooty. Friendly staff, comfortable surroundings and a fabulous menu. All the food was fantastic but the pineapple cheesecake is worth a special mention. We will be returning as although it is a little pricey, it is very elegant.

Thoroughly enjoyable food, wine and atmosphere. You pay for quality and this places serves it up a treat. The piano player at the bar makes the evening sparkle. The food is well cooked and presented, the service friendly and efficient and the wine list is sublime. Recommend this place for any special occasion or just if you want a good night out

We thought we'd give Choice a go as it's in our Hi-Life directory and i'd heard good things about the place. I thought the food and service were excellent and the variety of unique dishes on the menu was very appealing. I started with bacon and eggs which isn't quite what it sounds. It's actually a duck egg that's mixed and put back in the egg with tasty bacon rashers as the soldiers. Lovely creamy taste and different from the usual run of the mill starters. Even more satisfying was the main course of seared duck with chili ice cream. It sounds like it would never work but it's a perfect combination of flavours and highly recommended if want something more daring from your food. My partner had a chicken dish that was also cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is one of the most pleasant in Manchester and the decor is well done. Most importantly the service and food are both top quality and i'll definitely be visiting again.

October 2007 Sadly, our last visit to Choice was a huge disappointment. The black pudding starter was tasteless; the duck main-course was overcooked. The place lacked atmosphere and the service should have been better. I've eaten at Choice before and thoroughly enjoyed it - hence my trip back - but standards seem to be slipping. Hopefully, it'll get back on track soon.

Very disappointed - menu was not as good as the one on website. Ordered sirloin steak which needed a steak knife but was told they didn't have any! Only consolation was the wine was great. Not sure whether the owner/ manager was present but this should not make a difference.

I'm a regular at Choice because the food is consistently of a high standard and the restaurant is in a very pleasant location. My only complaint, and this niggles me every time I go there, the staff are lacking in personality and dynamism. They do their job Ok but it would be nice if they showed some sign of appearing to enjoy their work.
