Awful, awful place - given it one star on the basis my steak was edible and I can't work how to give no stars! Went with friends last night (party of 13) - when you have to ask twice just to see a menu you know things are not going to be top rate. When we asked for the table d'hote menu as per the website we were told that they didn't do that any more. Some of our party were offered a smaller "all day" menu as well as the a la carte. Others were only shown the a la carte menu (and we had to share as they were "running out" - there was us and a party of 6 or 7 in!!) We gave up with the idea of starters and went straight for the main course. Table booked for 8pm - we eventually got our meal at 9.30pm. When we asked why it was taking so long we were told it was because we were a large party. As we had booked the table 3 weeks previously it can hardly have come as a surprise to them that we were there. The meal was mediocre at best - scampi and tartar sauce - but without the tartar sauce (they had run out), fatty & soggy chips, bullet peas, a pie crust you could tile a roof with, beef gravy to go with chicken pie - just some of the highlights. We declined dessert on the basis life was too short. Some ordered coffees - then we were told the cappuccino machine was broken. Drinks were extortionately priced and slow in coming (20 minutes to be served 3 drinks). They had run out of bottle beer and coke. They ran out of toilet roll in the ladies loos and the hand dryer didn't work. We asked to see the manager - he didn't come immediately. Said he would look at the bill - after 20 mins he gave us 30% off (via the waiter not in person). Our group go out about once a month in Hull and East Yorks and have done for 9 or so years and this is the first time we have had to complain like this. Needless to say we will NOT be going back!!
