Love Gaucho, our party of 6 had a fab time. Food to die for and great service!
Food Lover
Took my wife last night , was very pleased with the steak I had but the sauce I ordered mushroom was gravy with 2 tiny pieces of mushroom. My wife ordered pepper sauce which was gravy again which does not compliment a good steak. I am a chef and I know what pepper sauce should be like and what a mushroom sauce should be like.

I have dined in Gaucho Grillo n several occasions and I have to say it's always hit and miss. My partner and I went on Saturday night and after our experience, shall not be returning any time soon. Having already made the decision to book a later table (whenever we have eaten between the times of 7.45 and 9.15 it's been awful) we were annoyed to have to wait nearly an hour longer to be sat (no apology was given - I believe that the mismanagement of the reception resulted in them having forgotten us) When we eventually sat the service was 'ok'. The wine recommendation did not come naturally, however the one we eventually chose was delicious (not topped up once by our waiter however). The starter of Carpaccio was absolutely delicious, the steak we had for main were awful! Tough and flavourless, I found it hard to believe they had been marinaded for 24hrs! Needless to say that after this, we did not feel in the mood for dessert nor coffee. We asked for the bill and got charged £115 for the experience!! I have to say I am upset as when you have a good experience in Gaucho, you have a bloody good time and don't mind paying at all! Unfortunately though, we shan't be returning!

Last night I dined alone at the Manchester Branch of this Argentinean steak house. After being seated and having to wait over 10 minutes for the sommelier to arrive, stinking of cigarettes, I sat back and waited for my meal to arrive. As a lover of meat, I had a waitress trying to tell me I should have my steak cooked on the side of well done. My over salted fillet arrived with a limp salad, soggy and tasteless chips and an overpowering sauce. With the manageress was unable to offer any type of service recovery, and I left £106 lighter and with half my meal still on the table. If you truly love your meat, think again. Go somewhere else!

Big Name big expectations, average experience. Well on a wet Sunday afternoon at 6.15pm nipped in to the Gaucho, the place had around 20-25 diners, seemed understaffed as the service was dreadfully slow. Saw the service pick up after observing the team brief at 7pm. Soft shell Crab 4 pieces, £17, was ok, like a light tempura batter with the 1/2 lemon and alioli, was not greasy, nothing much to shout about. The waiter mixed up the order for the seafood platter, we ordered the main course but arrived the starter cold portion; we did not say anything as we were in a hurry! Rib Eye was cooked to perfection, and was a good quality matured steak. The waiter forgot the salad to go with this. however the mangeress on duty was I think the star of the show, alert and hovering the tables talking to all tables and guests. She took immediate action to organise the salad. Bill £74, for bottle of still, 500ml of rose (served in a cheap water jug.............come on Gaucho find a better carafe!!)and 2 starters and 1 main course. Yes the place is visually stunning, chairs and most of the restaurant seemed to be covered with a sort of black and white cow patches, did not dare to as if this was from the real cow! Great bar and seating area around it. Sloppy service at these prices is not expected. the place when we left at 7.40 had in total around 35-40 diners, around 1/3 full, Dread to see what the service is like when they are packed to capacity.

Took my girlfriend there for her birthday on the recommendations given by this website, and was completely impressed from start to finish. From the friendly and helpful staff, to the excellent food. I couldn't fault any part of it. Starters (sea food platter) was superb, steak was amazing and chocolate truffle cake was the best I've ever had. I'd give this place 10/10 and definitely go back.

VERY DISAPPOINTING! On arriving there was no one on the front desk so we were left to wait for ten minutes before being seated. We ordered some water whilst looking at the menu, I think they sent someone to Buxton to get it judging by the time it took for the waitress to bring it to the table. We ordered and then watched our food sit on the side for ten minutes before the waiter noticed it. The order when it eventually arrived was wrong, I ordered the CHURRASCO but got a plain sirloin instead. On sending it back I watched the chef butterfly the steak, dip it in the marinade and put it back on the griddle! On pointing this out to the waiter he assured me that a fresh steak had been cooked. Utter rubbish, the staff seem to forget that there is a lovely open kitchen at Gaucho. We did complain to the Maitradee who did not charge us for the steak. I have eaten at Gaucho twice before and I thought the service and food were excellent. This time the service was insultingly bad. The new decor looks tacky, the black and white furry fake cow skin seat covers really do look appallingly bad. The treatment of customers is way below the standards of the restaurant Gaucho used to be. The food was average and overall experience very disappointing. I have recommended Gaucho to friends before, this time I will be warning them, a lack of basic service ruined a birthday celebration. Never again.

Went to Gaucho for a special birthday - was left disappointed. The food was nothing spectacular, the staff were distant and the seating plan catered for the masses. For the food and service, it is grossly overpriced and there are much better restaurants in Manchester

I had a fantastic fillet steak here last night. If you are in Manchester and want to gorge on red meat then you must go here. Only problem last night was that it's undergoing a refurb. Why dont they just close the place, do the job and then re-open?

My husband took me here for my birthday... i've heard about Gaucho many times, but with so many restaurants to pick from when you live in Manchester, the prices on the online menus for Gaucho always caused me too chose others before it. Big mistake! As soon as we walked in, i was impressed. The place is visually gorgeous, and the front of house staff were very polite and, for a change in Manchester nowadays, smiling! Our waitress was undoubtedly the friendliest, most knowledgable waitress i have ever encountered. There's nothing this woman did not know, nor was there anything that was too much trouble! She really made us feel important. I noticed that all the waitresses for other parts of the floor, were the same. As for the food, the table bread and oil 'dip were out of this world.. so much so that i got the ingredients for the dip from the waitress, and will try to recreate at home... i could've gladly just eaten that for the night! The starter of Argentinian Sausage and mashed potato were lovely (although miniscule for the hefty price tag... but who cares!) The fillet stake was melt in your mouth, and for such a quality piece of meat, was excellent value for money. I had the 225g (smallest) cut, and was left uncharacteristically unable to have a desert, due to being full! The 'fat' chips were gorgeous too... not really chips, more like big roast potatoes! Cocktail menu was extensive and very fancy... the one i picked in the end was more like a desert in a glass, but having a sweet tooth, that suited me fine, and i really enjoyed it. The meal for 2 came to just under £60.. not bad for 1 starter, 2 fillet steak mains (one larger than the other), 2 or 3 argentinian largers, and a hefty cocktail. Also, refreshingly nowadays, gratuity wasn't automatically added onto the bill (how do places get away with this anyway!) and we were glad to hear that any tip given for the excellent service, goes straight to those who have provided it! Overall, the food was really nice, but the service we received made it 100 times better. i will be returning in a flash!
