Saw Gibbets Law whilst out at another restaurant, had a quick nosy in and thought why not try it - wasn't disappointed, had a slight problem with food, but was sorted straight away and very apologetic. Will definitely be going back - They can also cater for Coeliacs brilliant.

Went for an evening meal here with my wife and although slightly apprehensive at first, due to it being deemed a 'cafe/bar and not having it recommended by friends, we were soon put at ease by the delightful owner/host. We were given a choice of tables and we were waited on superbly by friendly polite staff, the food was equally enjoyable with a concise easy to fathom menu of which i can recommend the risotto, and more than adequate portions on all our food. Lovely atmosphere with a local artist singing in the background, not overbearing at all. All in all i would have no qualms in returning either for breakfast lunch or evening meal and if i had a niggling complaint it would be that the staff did come over quite alot to see if everything was'Ok' but i understand that they want the feedback to iron out any problems and also really being picky there were a few light fittings need sorting, sorry. All the best hope it takes off.

Ultra friendly service & top-notch food. I had pancakes with maple syrup and bacon - the bacon was cooked perfectly, no fatty bits! & my mum had scones with jam and the hugest pot of clotted cream I've seen!
But best of all, I took my son, who is toddler, with us and he was treated fabulously - I sometimes find that trendy places aren't very child-friendly, but we'll definitely be going back to Gibbets Law.

This morning marked the second day in a row I stopped off for breakfast. Great service with a friendly team and the local coffee is delicious

I visited the Gibbets Law yesterday for lunch with my mother, it was our first visit and I have to say the food was top notch, piping hot and quite a sizable plate-load. The prices are amazing too. The Gibbet Law Cafe will definitely become our regular weekly lunch "haunt", if it is this good and the building isn't quite finished just imagine how good it is going to be once it is. Many thanks and keep up the great work

Went a few Saturdays ago, on entrance it all seemed a little confusing as we didn't know if we had to find our own seat or if someone came and seated us.
The menu was nice, but having previously eaten at both La luna and Metro the menu seemed to come up short on what they had to offer. Also their menu is described as British, however the menu that we had was anything but British as every item on the menu and a foreign influence such as french and Italian.
Their was a live singer which would have been nice in a bigger room, as conversation was very hard to be held due to the volume of the singer.
Their prices are reasonable, but I feel that they need to offer a wider variety of choice to be able to compare to the 2 other bistros in Halifax.
The location isn't in the best of places, its on a very quiet street away from all the shops. Maybe a prime location in the center of the shopping district, along with cheaper prices and a less up market menu would help them succeed more. Theirs already two well established bistros in this small town with a high reputation, so competing with these maybe isn't a good idea in today's economy.

The four of us had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, lovely food, nothing was too much trouble, great hosts and great chef, will be even better when the decor has all been finished. We will be coming back for more, and more and more. We've got to try the Yorkshire tapas next time.

Beautiful inside with a relaxed but luxurious feel to it inside. The food was lovely & the service very good, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The best thing for us was we had our toddler with us and they went out of their way to accommodate her needs food wise, which was brilliant. We will definitely be going back on a regular basis and working our way through the delicious menu!

highly recommended cafe bar, the food was brilliant and both me and my daughter enjoyed pasta bolognese, my daughter can be a very fussy eater at times but she could not get enough of her meal, she even asked for some of mine, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and we will be going back again, and i will be letting friends and family know about gibbets law cafe Bar. Thank you for the lovely service xxx
