Sorry guys! I recommended this place last year but it has had a change of ownership. Still very pleasant people but the service and the food aren't half as outstanding as they used to be. The menu seems more expensive and whilst the food is still tasty, it lacks the wow factor. Gurkha beer at £6 plus for a large bottle is too expensive. Having said that, the restaurant was packed last saturday night so they must be doing something right; sugget you ring up and book in advance if you fancy it...

It's always nice to find a restaurant which exceeds your expectations and with The Gurkha Thali, Huddersfield, you will find delicious Nepalese food served in remarkably comfortable and casually sophisticated surroundings. Simple, unfussy and informal décor and lighting add a touch of subtlety without overshadowing the main features of this place, that being the fresh and authentic food, whilst the outstanding friendly service only adds to it's appeal.

We have visited this restaurant four times in the past couple of months and have not once been disappointed! The restaurant is up opposite the Nawaab Indian Restaurant, about three minutes walk from the train station. The exterior looks slightly run down and the ventian blinds make it look gloomy, almost closed...but inside is airy and clean with a mirrored wall along one side and white tableclothed tables. The staff are delightful, really charming and helpful. We enjoy the ghurka nepalese beer (large bottles!) and the food is exceptional in value, presentation and taste. Everything looks and tastes fresh, and the cooking style is lighter than your average curry house. I recommend you give them a try, this restaurant deserves support! You'll be back!

Very good meal - fresh flavours, not as "heavy" as most Indian restaurants. Good service - will return.
