The Hanaan is situated on what is called the curry mile in Rusholme. I’ve eaten there with my family on a number of occasions and always found the staff to be pleasant. The restaurant itself has quite a modern décor with a round bar area in the centre. The food has always been enjoyable and reasonably priced, which of course it has to be in this location, due to the stiff competition nearby. The portions don’t appear to be as big as they used to be, but this can be said of a number of Indian restaurants nowadays. Overall, I would certainly recommend the Hanaan for a pleasant evening, good Indian food at a reasonable price in pleasant surroundings. And because of its location, it’s nice to have a little wander after the meal and sample the atmosphere of this vibrant area of Manchester.

We finally paid a visit to this place after it catching our eye for a few years, as its without a doubt one of the less tacky and less typically 'Asian Curry House' looking place on the curry mile, with quite a classy image as opposed to bright neon lights all over the front of house.
Anyway, we were promised 15% off the bill before entering, whilst looking at the menu outside, as one of the waiters seemed keen to get us in, without realising that we were going to come in anyway!
Starters were fine, but nothing special, albeit a little pricey at 5.10 for the fish tikka. It was a bit overcooked aswell, but again, perfectly decent and enjoyable.
My mixed tandoori was fine too, and both came served on a hot plate.
The main courses were however, very disappointing and bland. My jalfrazi wasn't very hot at all with only 1 whole chilli to be found in it, and the portion was pretty small too, leaving loads of rice left over after the sauce was gone. My girlfriend's biriyani was more like a Paella from a Spanish restaurant, in that it was a little soggy, and both our rices were made from long grain rice, not basmati, so not very Asian at all really.
On the whole, the whole meal was like something you could cook at home, from bottled curry and packet rice.
To top it off, the bill arrived, and we had been charged £3.20 extra for ordering a samba sauce with the biryani, instead of the regular hot, medium or mild choice, whereas most restaurants let you have any sauce you like with a biryani! Also, our 15% discount wasnt taken off, and finally, the card machine was faulty, so I had to walk down the road to get some cash before paying the bill! I wouldnt mind, but they should point the extra sauce charge out, aswell as the card machine issue, before or as you order!
It wasnt awful, and we had a good time despite its flaws, but we wont be going back, because theres so much choice on the curry mile, so why would you go to a place that isnt all that good?
4/10 - Nothing to shout about, in an area where standards should all be high due to the massive local competition.

A very nice but not easy to find gem in the heart of Manchester. The service is excellent as it should be as it wasn? busy. The food was very tasty and well presented with the cost making this an excellent value for money meal. Worth a visit and I?l be returning.

I thought that the service was excellent. There was a great variety of dishes to choose from and the pricing was very reasonable. it was a comfortable atmosphere and i've recommened the restaurant to everyone.
