The Ashoka now at the Harpers Inn: The new owners have followed previous tennants from the Bull and Butcher in Burnley to the harpers Inn in fence, A nice atmostphere awaits in the pub/restaurant and the food is of a high standard. The team also offer a take away service which is proving very popular with the village locals. your made welcome to pop in just for a pint which at £2.50 for Carling is the cheapest in the area.

The thai orchid restaurant is an excellent place to eat, offering a wide variety of food and drink set in lovely surroundings. It is a breath of fresh air for Fence. Keep up the good work!

I would recommend the Thai Orchid to anyone wanting to try a great tasting authentic menu. It was our first visit so I can only say that what we had was excellent (I won't recommend a particular dish, but would advise anyone trying chicken wrapped in pandan leaves not to try eating the leaves!). The pricing is pretty average, but not value for money when you consider portion size - I know that Thai food is delicate, but if you're thinking of sharing with friends, make sure you order enough sundries to go round! The waitresses are lovely, but the service was quite slow. However, it was a Friday night and the restaurant was very busy, but even though we had booked a table we waited a long time to be seated and almost an hour between courses. Still, we will no doubt go again. The special that is offered on a Monday night looks really reasonable. See You there?!

Very busy on the Saturday night that we were there so I recommend reserving a table. We booked for Bunthip but had to move because of closure. If anything the food and ambiance are better and the place is certainly worth a visit. A delicate starter with minced prawn and chicken in tiny baskets was superb and beautifully presented. My old favourite of Chicken Mussaman was as good as ever. Brilliant prices too!
