About Jorges Tasca

Housed in a beautiful glass-fronted building flooded with natural light and filled with lush green plants, Jorge's Tasca gives you the feeling of dining al fresco but with all the creature comforts of being inside. This most relaxed of dining experiences is hidden away in a private courtyard off Red Lion Street in the centre of Norwich. The food is inspired by the kind of street food you will find in authentic ‘tascas’ and all the dishes have links back the owners’ home country of Portugal. Food is served all day from 10am to 10pm Wednesday to Saturday and you can drop in for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner with reservations only needed for the evenings.

One of Norwich's best kept secrets: in addition to the fab Portuguese restaurant in Red Lion St there is also a tapas bar in the old kitchenware store space now beautifully revamped. The original Bifana sandwich is the best meat take away dish in the City. Ridiculously tasty. Go!

These guys, Manuel & Nuri, have perfected the art of a sandwich with pork. It's heaven. Why go to Five Guys for a 6/10 meat burger when you can stroll across the road for 10/10? Bifana Original & Fries.... Enjoy. And support a great local business

We visited on a Wednesday evening, finding the restaurant to be very quiet. Despite this we had a most enjoyable experience. The service was very good and we enjoyed an excellent meal. We are pescatarian but still had plenty of choice from the fish and veggie options. The menu includes a good selection of sides, also offering choices for our diet. We were recommended to choose around 3 dishes per person but were assured we could add options at any time. We opted for 2 fish and 2 veggie dishes accompanied by a refreshing salad, no limp lettuce leaves here. The portion sizes were generous and each dish was well presented and tasty. Whilst difficult to single out one dish I would have to opt for the Squid Taco, there were 2 generous sized Tacos, so we were able to have one each, it was packed full and the squid was cooked to perfection. We managed to leave a little room for desserts of which there are only 2 choices on the menu, Pastel de Nata which is a Portuguese Custard Tart, if you’ve never tried one it’s a must, and a Portuguese Trio, which we opted for and shared. This was made up of 3 small desserts, including egg yolk cheese straws (delicious, who would have thought egg yolks could taste this good), a luscious thick choc mousse and a small cake which was also delicious. We washed all this down with a glass of the Portuguese House Wine. Last and by no means least everything was priced reasonably, excellent value for money.

LOVED IT!! Awesome food. Great atmosphere. Great value for money. Friendly staff. What more can I say. A really really good venue & night out. Only downside is the closing at 10pm ish when really we could’ve sat & had after drinks or even make use of the area outside with a bar as I’d have happily stayed there all night

What a little gem of a restaurant, gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. My only criticism is that you can’t finish your meal off with a coffee after 5 pm which would seem easy to rectify. Aside from that everything else was near perfect.

Beautiful tapas and sharing board plus very friendly and efficient staff member. Lovely meal, pleasant surroundings. Visiting Norwich for a few days, but hope to return to this restaurant as it is quite special. Many thanks to chef, and member of staff who waited on us the evening of March 22nd.
