We have been here numerous times before and always loved the food - telling our friend they must try it! The service can be a little hit and miss and despite the website boasting of a roaring fire it is usually cold. But the food usually more than makes up for this. We did once visit and found the landlord really going at it with a customer, being very aggressive - because they were unhappy with their meal - ending with the police being called! And once a friend found a piece of plastic in their food- which the waitress didn't seem to care about at all. We recently visited The Kings Arms for Sunday Lunch. We arrived to a very limited menu (1 soup starter and 4 mains to choose from). And then once seated we were told that all but 2 draft beers were not available. Not the best start to a meal! The soup was lovely - a similar quality to what it usually is. But then the roast dinners came - and they were shocking! Clearly it was all ready made products that had been re-heated - somewhat unsuccessfully as most of it was stone cold. Obviously, we told the waitress this - and got the reply "I'll tell the chef." We guessed that the chef must have quit or not shown up and the landlord must have popped down to Asda and stocked up on Aunt Bessie's products and was reheating them himself! We've never paid so much for a cold ready meal! We won't be going back!
