A visit to the Komal is a delicious experience. It has a great atmosphere which is complimented by friendly and courteous staff. As for the food ... simply put, nowhere comes remotely close to the scintillating flavour sensations. Excellent menu, full of choice for vegetarians and carnivores alike!

Excellent and inexpensive food set in a clean and well appointed restaurant with friendly and courteous staff - it doesn't get any better than this!

Went for a birthday treat with family. 6 adults and 2 children. Children didn't want spicy food so we asked if there was anything else. Waiter said they could do fried chicken and chips and we agreed that would be very nice. We didn't ask the price (more fools us) and they didn't say. When we got the bill we found that most of the dishes were between £5-£7 but the children's meals were £9.95 EACH. Their meal consisted of about 5 or 6 pieces of chicken about the size of a 50p piece each, chips, peas and a bit of salad garnish. We all thought this was outrageous and they have lost some regulars through this.

Have been going to Komal for several years. Food is always very good. Used to be a cheap and cheerful balti house with prices to match but recently the prices have crept up to equal those of other restaurants. However whereas other restaurants have immaculately laid out tables, Komal is still bare tables and cutlery wrapped in a napkin. It can be noisy too, so if you want to eat in a place that's buzzing head for Komal, if you want a quiet meal look elsewhere.

Simply the best curry in Newcastle, plus it's unlicensed so take your own booze. used to be scruffy but very posh and modern now, their food simply isn't bettered in the north east.
Komal Balti House
I loved the Balti Saag Paneer, a vegetarian delight with fresh ginger, chilli and coriander served in a sizzling Balti dish. Order a 'special naan'- they will do any variety (peshwari goes well with a Balti). The special part is the size- you can dispense with a table cloth! They also serve great mango lassi and locally made kulfi for desert. I have been eating here since I was a student and it keeps dragging me back to Newcastle!
