I had lunch at MC Cafe Bar today (3rd May 2008). I ordered a posh sounding burger for myself, and my daughter the rump steak sandwich. Both meals (save the chips) were cold, and my daughter's steak was medium at one end (as ordered) and overcooked at the other. Salad was (literally) one small lettuce leaf and a (thin) slice of tomato and a tiny onion ring. My burger turned out to be a thin, rubbery patty which tasted of nothing. The garlic bread was a greasy confection devoid of flavour. In short, this place with its snail paced service is rubbish and overpriced

Well worth a lunchtime visit. A medium plate of farfalle with chicken & pancetta is cheaper than the equivalent at nearby chain establishments but not so small you'll leave feeling hungry, and the flavours are a distinct cut above the herd. It's also more welcoming and informal than I'd expected. Children aren't just tolerated but really welcomed - under 5's eat for free -while the waitresses strike just the right balance between efficiency and friendliness, though it probably helps if you have a cute toddler for them to coo over!
