I came to The Charnwood on Tuesday for lunch with family, and the food was delicious. I would recommend the hot beef and onion sandwich..My 2 kids then had sticky toffee pudding and that was yummy...I only wished i'd ordered some !!! Will definitely go again.

We ate Sunday lunch at this restaurant. We were late - the last diners of the afternoon in fact. But we paid as much as all the earlier diners, so in my view should expect quality and value. The meals were good in quantity - my wife had pork and I had pan-fried duck. The duck was delicious but far too rare. Both meals had roasted parsnips, that were impossible to cut with a knife let alone chew. The service was just sufficient, no more. Several times the lady owner passed our table but judiciously looked the other way. If I had been her, and faced with two new customers, I'd have made them feel welcome and checked whether everything was alright at the very least. An opportunity missed. The table was sticky - very sticky, a pet hate of mine, and so easy to avoid. The atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant were bleak. The place is run down. An experience not to be repeated.

I saw the positive reviews and gave it a try after buying bargains at the nearby Tog 24 factory shop.. Brilliant! Excellent food, all piping hot, friendly service, very reasonably prices. Will definitely come again

We have visited the New Charnwood several times & always had a warm & friendly welcome. There is always different beers & good wine. The food is always well cooked & tasty Vegetables are cooked properly not over cooked . The staff have a good sense of humour to make the evening memorable not just going out for a meal.

We are regulars here as the home made, gorgeous food is so enjoyable we can't stay away!!
Our favourites are - Lamb Henry (on the Sunday lunch menu), the lamb has been cooked for so long, it is so tender it just fall apart, absolutely delicious!!!!Not to be missed!!!! Also the deep fried brie & cranberry starter is the best I've ever tasted, anywhere!!!!
My husband always goes for the pie of the day on the specials board, usually either chicken, ham & leek or beef & mushroom
All the staff are very friendly too & the place has a good atmosphere

The restaurant is a friendly place, with the best food i have ever tasted. It is cosy and warm especially with these winter months coming in. I would recommend it to anyone.

The food was plentiful, cooked to perfection, with the service second to none. You can sit in the Dining Room or outside in the well kept garden. I will definitely be coming back and have recommended to others.
