I had an absolutely awful time here. Not just because the karaoke room smelt very strongly of urine. The manager has no idea about the basics of customer service. I was charged £14 for a bottle of wine which was so bad that I couldnt even get other people to taste it cos it smelt that bad. It wasnt corked - it was just disgusting. When i asked politely for a free jug of soda or lemonade to make it bearable the manager told me no it was my fault that i'd ordered it and I have to put up with it, that he wasnt going to compromise and that he didnt care that he had a table of 26 unhappy customers and that we would tell other people about our bad experience. He said it was tough and I'd have to drink it because I'd paid for it and that was that. I couldnt beleive how appalling his attitude was that he was prepared to have such a large group of unhappy people for the sake of a bit of lemonade (which incidentally is flat because it comes from a 2 litre bottle which is left standing and then charge £1.60 for a glass of it when the whole bottle costs about £1.)

The Karaoke nights at china red 'THE DAVIDOKE SHOW' are absolutely amazing!!!!!! Karaoke and disco in the karaoke room is a wonderful night of LIVE entertainment. DAVIDOKE has a fantastic sense of humour and holds the crowd well with jokes games and great showmanship. I know many celebs visit the karaoke here as i have seen pictures and read about the restaurant in magazines and national papers. Kerry Katona and Man City are a few i know about. Restaurant looks great, extensive karaoke book (Bloody Massive!!) and great mix of music, along with video graphics and music videos. You can even email pictures and they put them up on the big screen for you ie birthdays and hen nights. TOP PLACE TOP FOOD TOP DJ 10/10 CHINA RED & THE DAVIDOKE EXPERIENCE

Having visited this restaurant twice, I felt I had to write a review so that it gets the publicity it deserves. This really is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the North West in my opinion. As the previous reviewer stated, the menu choice is outstanding and much more varied and complex than your standard Chinese restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the Fillet Steak Rolls as a starter - really meaty and tasty with a hint of coriander, which gave them a very prominent and unusual taste. We also had Duck and Pancakes both times we were there which were gorgeous, along with a variety of starters which were all lovely. You get plenty of meat on your ribs too which is always a bonus for me! For our main course, we have tried a variety of dishes, ranging from Fillet Steak in Black Pepper sauce on a hot plate to Chicken in Green Peppers and Black Bean sauce, and all of the dishes we tried were delicious. There is also a very wide variety of hot plate dishes to try which we were impressed with as these are our favourite dishes. All in all we have had a fantastic meal both times. The service can be a little slow (emphasis on the little) but this is to be expected, as it is always very busy! And you are too busy taking in the atmosphere to notice anyway - and I always prefer to have some time between courses to let your starter go down before having to battle the main course so this has never been a problem.

From the moment we arrived, you get an air of upper class dining; the wine list is extensive with some very good reds and interesting array of champagnes. The entire restaurant is set out with some beautiful Chinese style of classic furniture, and cunning use of mirrors, which at first glance make the place look enormous, without loosing any intimacy. Now the menu itself was a little bit more than your average Chinese restaurant. My wife and I eat out in Chinese restaurants a great deal and we were taken aback with dishes we had not come across before. The meals were a mixture of the usual Chinese fare with a few surprises, like Venison with Ginger and Spring Onion on a Hot Plate (which I could not leave without trying). Which was an awesome meal. My wife had a Baked Assorted Vegetables in Coconut Sauce (which was a vegetarian option although she is not a vegetarian). It was these two wonderful dishes really that prompted me to write a review. Although I leapt ahead, the starters were equally good, we had some duck and pancakes, which was very tasty, not too salty either, which i was pleased about. And some Steamed Scallops, which were perfectly done and deep-fried, crab claws. Desert was not needed, but I would have liked to have seen some sorbet on the menu. Or even some traditional Chinese desserts, but you can't have everything. We later found out that there was also an upstairs bar with a dance floor with disco but there was no noise at all from it. And an outdoor balcony area over looking Stockton Heath. Hopefully during the summer we will go back as there were one or two other dishes I should try. Whole boneless Sea Bass sounded interesting and Sliced Lamb Satay on Hot plate. Hopefully this review helps you find a great evening out, not so far from home as we usually have to travel. And not a smoky environment either which is a bonus for us non-smokers. Fantastic place definitely a place you'll revisit.
