i have today (18th april 2010) visited the pity me with 3 of my friends to have a carvery for lunch unfortunately the beef was not cooked it still had blood running out when it was carved the alternative meats were pork and lamb both of which i don't like my friends had theirs and i had to sit and watch them eat as there were no alternative menu my friends said the potatoes were cold and there was not enough gravy on the plate therefore the food was very dry there were children helping to serve up the carvery which didn't appeal to me at all and i thought children under 14 were not allowed at the bar needless to say we were all disappointed and will not be returning to the pity me

Really fantastic, beautifully cooked fresh food, at reasonable prices. We ate here by accident one night and came back a second. Between us we had Hake, fish and chips, and steak, all terrific. Puddings also good, crumble crisp and fruit underneath still recognisable rather than usual mush
Only slight detraction very cold weather this week and we could have done with the heating up a tad... otherwise great.

Quite excellent! Thank heavens that it's been taken over by the former chef of "The Alternative" restaurant in Rock. The food is as expected by Ben, fantastic and thankfully no ridiculous Rock prices. Really welcoming and friendly this is going to take off and hopefully keep it's locals coming in too!
My Scallops and my partners Curry were just superb and at proper pub prices. (None of this silly nonsense Jus of this and that)

Ate here several times over our fortnight's stay in nearby Polzeath. The place was always busy, but service was equally quick, efficient and friendly. My husband is in a wheel chair and whilst the ramp into the building is temporary and much like the rest of the area (steep),once you have negotiated this it's easy going. The food is general fare but well prepared, presented and delicious. The rib-eye steak was outstanding! Superb, hearty meals at very reasonable cost and excellent service to boot. Suck it and see!
